I have been using Cinema 4D for almost a decade now, and find it robust, easy to use and amazingly flexible. The guys at Adobe have a lot to learn from the simple interface and customization of palettes. With After Effects alongside, I have a complete toolset and streamlined workflow that Im proud of.
One of the biggest things that made me choose Cinema 4D over the others is the pace of development. Maxon has been pushing out revolutionary features with every release. That and the workflow is soooo intuitive.
Are you working with it professionally or just as a hobby? Right now I use Blender because it's free and very powerful for home animation. Do you think it's worth it to pay $2000 for software?
It can be boring learning the basics at first but when you're progressing, meaning you can pretty much model quite a lot of things then you'll get into it
Im a beginner at using blender but i puchased this cinema 4d .....is it even easier to use than blender?pls answer someone it would be nice if some1 can. :)
It is a computer aided software that originated on the Amiga computer in its hey days. It aids one to creat three dimensional objects and animate the scene if need be. Your imagination is your limitation. That is what the software programers say. I guess my imagination is not that big. ;- I couldn't creat a square box. :-
if you can't get anyone to teach you privately, then am sure the only way is by downloading beginners tutorial on it like i do. it's going great gradually
You need to hard study about lighting and shading. Learn PBR texturing and what all different maps means.. Then use something better rendering engine inside cinema, like Vray. Thank me later :)
And if you have trouble in terms of modeling side, then learn different modelling techniques. Then learn about polygons and topology. Then learn all modelling tools inside c4d. Then try try try and you got the idea. At some point you can model everything that you want wihout thinking.
Zach Hamilton i didn't say math is hard but i ment pointless and math is all about rules that you just have to learn and that it and editing is all about being creative
+asdsaksa It isn't pointless, it's meant to teach you how to follow steps, and discipline. If you aren't disciplined in something simple like math you can never be able to work with complex things like cinema 4d.
Zach Hamilton will i hate math and i think im doing a pretty good job working with "complex" things like cinema 4d and after effects so i dont know where your coming from with "you can never be able".
The video say's it all. Cinema 4d is the most artist friendly, world class, 3d application out there. Its tight integration with After Effects makes C4D a superior solution for broadcast production. I love it a little more each time I use it.
Maya and 3ds max are programs that are designed to be extremely expandable. It will take a wile to learn to use them but they are very powerful applications that are used for tackling extremely tough challenges. In the transformers movie, special scripts had to be written to rig the characters well. C4D Is awesome because you can learn it quickly, anything you dont know is literally a right click away. It lets anyone do lighting, animation and more. Not to mention great compatibility with AE!
I LOVE Cinema 4D. While it is easier to use than Maya and 3DS Max, not everyone would be willing to put in the effort to learn this beast of a software. I am taking online classes for it and it's awesome.
I master both (10 years of experience), Maya and C4D and I think you can do almost everything with C4D out of the box that you could do with Maya out of the box. AND there is lots of stuff in C4D that doesn't exists in Maya. And I dont mean Mograph tools. With some scripting and coding knowledge sky is the limit. So I think you are sooo wrong.
Maya has scripting too. Can't speak from experience on how good it is but it does have it. The biggest grumble I had with Cinema 4D in the past was with Bevel Mitering. The bevel tool in the past was very limited and never seemed to work right. Not anymore though. Modo is a fascinating tool and definitely has some hardsurface modeling benefits that I haven't seen in any other 3D program. Only huge problem is the awkward workplane shifting when moving the viewport that as best as I can tell... can't be turned off.
You need a lot of time for this and good learning srategy, dont waste your time on amateurs kids tutorials on youtube and go to school. PS: You need also big balls for it ! :D

I agree with the sentiment that it's vastly expensive. I mean, If you're going to sell software at over £2,000 for the full thing, Perhaps you guys should add a finance option where your licence is intact and valid until payment is complete, If the user stops paying the installments.. You can just deactivate their licence. As of right now, I don't think anybody can justify spending that kind of cash outright for software they will only use occasionally.
