- I actually never had Sakura Gelly Roll’s as a kid, so I was excited to test the first ever gel pen!
Well… I guess I should be glad that it doesn’t last long, otherwise making this video would have been even more frustrating.
Most reviews write a word, a sentence, good luck if they actually do a paragraph.. Well I test pens fully, from full to zero. Write text for hours, you know… something you might be doing during an exam… Nothing worse than finding out that it breaks mid way and your replacement also breaks, but hey, now the executives got a new car or plane.
The test subject: Classic 0.6 mm in black
Other “lines” might have different formulas of ink and balls, but if 3 out of 3 show issues, this makes me rather concerned.

They're honestly great with art, specifically sketches. I can prove this 100%
Oh yeah, they are pretty and the selection of colors is crazy, problems start when one of the hundred just dies on you :D
I'm just recently getting into gel pens for the first time myself, as they were not common when I was in high school and I didn't use pens very much after that, so thank you for your reviews. And always wishing the best for your country and all of its lovely and talented people.
I was mostly using old Soviet fountain pens, and than affordable japanese ones back in school, but I must say that gel pens are very convenient and due to the variety and no maintenance - fun to use.
I will have a dozen more gel pen reviews, when I get free time on my hands to finish them 😅
If your looking for pens to use in work or school just go for a good ballpoint or pilot pen. If your doing art, these gelly roll pens work perfectly fine from personal experience. I have 20+ art pieces to prove this

Hopefully, if nothing drastic changes there will be reviews on the Muji gel pen (I assume the older style, they changed the refill to work for both click and cap styles), Pilot G2 (I have both the 0.5 and 0.7, was thinking of seeing how long each lasts), Pentel Energel (oh god feels like heaven after the Sakura), Fisher Space Pen (I actually killed one of them, ouch, expensive for my country)...
And *drum roll* Flair Writo-meter jumbo the “Longest writing pen 'Writes upto 12500 meters” which, if true, would be equivalent to SEVENTY FIVE Sakura’s Gelly Rolls!
My Gelly Roll pens are way too fluidy after I write for a bit also. It’s frustrating. Our dollar store gel pens here in the US (10-pack for $1.25) work so much better. Generally very consistent. Solid. Bright. They work on white or black paper and almost never skip unless they start to dry out, but then you can fix it with the typical cleaning process.
Yeah, was disappointed in their quality, even worse if you get one of those huuuuge sets. :(
I am testing dozens of gel pens right now, but mostly black, so far none acted as poorly as Gellyrolls
