I have never been able to get over that this entire movie is literally a rock band selling their souls to commit copyright infringement

That's quite an accurate description of the film 😆

@@TheNotoriousKAZ86 It says something that the idea they want you to believe Niccolo Paganini wrote a song that sounds exactly like an ELO song from 1981 is only the second most audacious thing in it

Haha, yeah... it's a weird movie overall. If the "Twilight" ripoff wasn't funny enough, there's another song that ripped off Bon Jovi. And we have Donald Pleasence of all people playing the Devil 😆

@@TheNotoriousKAZ86 The Bon Jovi ripoff was actually what brought it to my attention in the first place. That was just funny, but this song and the absolute insanity surrounding its purpose in the story are on a whole other level.
But on the whole, I'm someone who enjoys bad movies and this one is bizarrely compelling to watch, lol. Like, that poster promises SO much, and makes this movie look so awesome, and then you watch it and it's just a regular old slasher movie with a killer who looks like Tommy Wiseau wearing a costume from Spirit Halloween. It's the little things - the absurdity of the entire premise that Paganini wrote "Twilight," the shameless copyright infringement, Paganini's awful costume design, Donald Pleasence's utterly daffy performance - that made it memorable to me.
The funny part is, the basic idea of a notable composer or other such figure returning as a demonic spirit because greedy modern performers stole his work seems like something that could work if you really embraced the absurdity of it. Donald Pleasance's part as the puppeteer could easily be played by Eric Roberts today. Amusingly enough, if you think about it, this was meant to be a sort of mockbuster itself (piggybacking off of Klaus Kinski's "Paganini") but if it happened today The Asylum would likely mockbuster it right back. I'm picturing a movie about William Shakespeare hunting and killing a college theater club who butchered one of his plays lmao

@@illustriousrocket4476 haha welcome to the 80s. Movie posters, like videogame box art always sold lies to compensate for the product. And Italy filled the gaps between American blockbusters. Only film critics were serious about the quality of movies. We didn't care, we never took entertainment that seriously. Movies that are considered real bad, or so bad it's good today were actually enjoyed for what they were back then. They were optimistic and less cynical times.
The only thing surprises me with Paganini horror was that it was released as that and given a sequel title to a more popular film series it isn't related to by western distributors. Which was pretty common back then.

One of my favourite films. Yes, it's a bit crap, but there's so much to love about it. The music video sequences of ELO and Bon Jovi rip offs being top tier 😂👌
