As a Warriors fan: Andris Biedrins. At 22 years old, averaged 30MPG, 11RPG, 1.5BPG, and 11.9PPG in a contract year. Seemed like a rising center in a time when the league was thin on centers (ex: Chris Kaman was named an all-star center the very next season). The Warriors signed him to a 6-year contract at $9M a year. May not seem like a lot now but the salary cap then was at $55M. When adjusted for today's salary cap which is almost $110M, that is like taking up $18M a year of your salary cap! After signing that contract, Biedrins never averaged more than 5 PPG and all his stats declined every year. He was also a 24% FT shooter throughout that entire contract!
Turner was drafted by the Sixers in 2010. His teams made the playoffs his first 2 years. He played meaningful minutes for a team that went to the 2nd round of the playoffs in 2012. Hinkie wasn't hired until 2013. He only played for one partial season on a Sixers team that was devoid of NBA talent.
Erick Dampier in the 03-04 season comes to mind. Averaged 12 pts and 12 reb, never averaged double figures in either category again. Was pretty terrible beforehand as well.
So many people either forgot or are too young to remember about Bobby Simmons and his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks contract. It was not as much as these contracts mentioned in the video, but the salary cap was much lower back then but he still ate up a lot of their cap
Marcus Morris has no business being on this list. He's their third best Forward and still puts up great numbers for a 3rd or 4th option. Batum has been an awesome role player for my Clippers this year, but wow that contract the Hornets gave him was insane. Even the Hornets announcer would have a hard time getting excited over that.
I think the clippers have a real shot at winning a title this year. They have a very deep rotation and we’re just able to close out the jazz in game 6 even without kawhi. If the clippers can get kawhi back early in this upcoming conference finals against the suns they have a good chance at winning and moving on to the finals and if they can do that I honestly believe they’re better than any of the teams left in the east, especially since the Brooklyn nets just got eliminated by the bucks after injuries destroyed them

Hi Andy, look into Michael “yogi”Stewart from about 20 years ago. The Raptors signed him to a 4 yr deal and he virtually sat on the bench for the length of the contract.
De Aaron fox, Buddy hield, Bradley Beal, Zach Lavine, Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Demar Derosen all of these wonderful players but don't have impact on winning as their numbers and names may suggest, it's not easy to be star or a super star in the NBA
John wall got 44 million last year to sit on the bench healthy and is getting another 47 mil this year healthy to be told to sit on the bench. Now THAT is the life haha!
Two things about Buddy Hield: 1) He doesn't create contact like other 3pt shooters. He could draw SO many fouls and put up better numbers if he did 2) Hield is much more well-rounded this season despite not shooting well. He's had numerous games of no points or like 4 points, but he's doing a bit of everything. And with Fox & Haliburton out, he's even been running the offense lately.
I think a lot of these contracts can be attributed to teams that just don’t get a lot of star players in free agency. So these teams have to overpay unproved but budding players

2 phenomenon at work here. 1 it's easier to look like an outstanding player on a bad team, than it is to look like an outstanding player on a good team, or to take that bad team to the next level. The heightened expectations, and getting in your own head to try to take that team to the next level, can make you look real ordinary. You kind of notice a theme with some of the organizations in these videos lol 2 when you get that big next contract, you now are comparing spending your off time in the gym to spending your off time with all the things you spending that money on...... takes a certain kind of dude to stay committed.
I know this was posted a year ago but Aaron Gordon has become a great defender for the nuggets while providing an athletic slashing power on offense. He is now a key part for the nuggets future. Atleast Gordon and Batum have step up tbh. Gordon is really good in Denver, and Batum does not have interesting stats but contributed in the clippers this season

Hey Nick, I'm also from philly and followed the process out of shear curiosity to see how you purposely lose games without getting caught even though the whole world knew what you were doing🤔 I also felt the sixer fans pain, for I am a Spurs fan and having to watch them fill the void of the "Admirals" injury with Will Purdue was painful to say the least but in the end you couldn't of written a better script for the end of Robinson's career and the birth of the original "Big 3"!!!!

I remember him blocking Steph's shot in the opening game for 2016-2017 season. He got a lot of hype.
Oh shit what happened to that guy
Aaron Gordon having a career season rn
Philly fans fr were like "Evan stop trying to win"
You should do anther video about this, starting with Randle
Barón Davis and Andris Biedrins came to my mind at first
Ben Gordon was a great player with the bulls and got a big contract with the Pistons in 2010 and fell off when he signed with them
Buddy still got time I believe.. Luke don’t know what he doing lol
Walton is the worst coach in the league, maybe worst of his generation.
@@kevinwillette5161 fair but hield has regressed
@@kaiskajani5305 I don't know how old you are, but ESPN tried to get us all hype on Walton when he was at Arizona. Literally nothing about his game stood out at all and he was statistically crappy even by college standards. They wanted us to believe he was good because he passed the ball. Not And1 passing, YMCA passing. Its amazing he made a career off of that.
@@kevinwillette5161 I agree he’s been horrible and deserves to lose his job but idk man buddy wasn’t this good till Dave’s last year and his defense is even worse
@@kaiskajani5305 which leads me to my next point, Vlade is a terrible GM. Why the hell would they fire Dave in the first place? Look at the roster he was getting success out of. And replace him with Walton?! Just terrible.
2 phenomenon at work here.
1 it's easier to look like an outstanding player on a bad team, than it is to look like an outstanding player on a good team, or to take that bad team to the next level. The heightened expectations, and getting in your own head to try to take that team to the next level, can make you look real ordinary. You kind of notice a theme with some of the organizations in these videos lol
2 when you get that big next contract, you now are comparing spending your off time in the gym to spending your off time with all the things you spending that money on...... takes a certain kind of dude to stay committed.
James Johnson
Dion Waiters
Hassan Whiteside
Coming from a heat fan
Justice winslow coming from a man that lives in Hialeah
@@M3333_ he was decent before he got injured
Tyler Johnson, Myers Leonard and Kelly Olynyk
I know this was posted a year ago but Aaron Gordon has become a great defender for the nuggets while providing an athletic slashing power on offense. He is now a key part for the nuggets future. Gary Harris certainly had trouble with injuries but could still be a solid contributor. Hopefully he gets out of Orlando and lands on a contender
In defense of Noah, he suffered a series of devastating injuries. When healthy, he always gave his all on the court.
Atleast Gordon and Batum have step up tbh. Gordon is really good in Denver, and Batum does not have interesting stats but contributed in the clippers this season
Davis bertans is close to being on this list
This series against the Mavs just proved that the contract was worth it. Kawhi could very well leave this offseason so he's definitely a backup, as well.
Luke Kennard secured the bag for no reason
Kyle Kuzma too
And Davis Bertans
Watching Batum act as a solid piece for LAC this year was nearly rage inducing
Buddy Hield, Aaron Gordon and Marcus Morris have still been solid tho
But Did These Guys lived up to it?
@@sacramentokingswillrise7525 no but theyre not awful contracts like the others
@@drezz8k They're still Bad
@@sacramentokingswillrise7525 i wouldnt call them bad contacts, just a little overpaid
Sixers did not start tanking until Evan Turner's 4th year on the team. They actually made the playoffs in 2012 and took Boston to 7 games in the second round.
Ya boi Timofey Mozgov
And Luol Deng
@@anarky305 ^^^^^this^^^^
Even without the injuries Parsons was never good enough for a $94 million contract. He was a very useful role player at best.
i didn’t even start watching yet, but if hassan whiteside ain’t on this list, i’m rioting…
LET'S RIOT
Whiteside sucks
@@metalsadman after he got that contract, he didn’t care. before that, he was a legit top 5 center in the league
@@yshevdyc I remember I uses to laugh at people that used to say Hassan Whiteside was like a top 5 center people uses to actually say he was better than Joel embiid lmao.
@@pp3k3jamail he was. he was borderline unstoppable when he was on. 2014-2016 whiteside is so underrated
Prayers up to chandler parsons didn’t know that happened to him, shout out to him for getting that bag, idc if he deserved it or didn’t he got it so respect to him, never hate on someone else’s pockets.
Chandler Parsons is one of the greatest contract thieves in sports history!
More like the dumbest front office ever. Why'd you even pay a injury prone guy that absurd amount money.Does that organization have no scouts and Doctors to intervene?lol it wasn't even Parson's fault,if you were him u would take the bag too
Man you missed the biggest one!! Jerome James!!!! :D
Aaron gordon is 25 I feel like he'll be a late bloomer
His stats are getting worst that’s the problem if he was averaging like 20 a game I’d say he’s a solid player
Wouldn't call that deal with Morris "falling off" yet.. He has been beasting in the playoffs atm
Your never overpaid, your paid exactly what your worth because someone decided you were worth that much
-said some guy I forget
Noah finished 4th in mvp voting like 2 years before getting paid 😂 "didn't have a contract year"
My first thought was Bonzi Wells after the great playoff run.
As a blazer fan no one I talked to liked Evan Turner during his stay in Portland
Hey Andy, I’m from philly. I have a process too. It goes from being a huge fan and than watching them try to suck as much as possible and totally losing interest in my team. All these teams that intentionally tank trying to get a franchise player is painful to watch. A franchise player like lebron or Shaq or Tim Duncan is once in a generation. Orlando and Cleveland didn’t tank they just sucked and San Antonio got the luckiest horrible injury riddled season you can hope for at the best time.
Marcus Morris has been a big part of the clippers success in this postseason
You should do controversial contracts/extensions that players actually lived up to, like Jaylen Brown (at least so far, and before injury)
I remember wanting Boston to resign turner cause he was playing really well for his role. I was shocked when he got that offer from the blazers
