I have among others, an FF 12 that’s purple label in an Apparent 1.5 CGC, I bought it because they only asked $300. I don’t care about it’s restoration, I’m just happy that it’s in my collection and I didn’t pay that much for it.

Bro colors of labels c'mon we have to be better as a society, I personally don't see color I see the comic itself if it's something insane like a ff#1 or ff#2 u better believe the color shouldn't matter there won't be any period after so long so u just keep leaving beautiful purp label comics out there I'll be sure to snatch em up I may be kinda partial lol I have a purp ff#2 6.5 love it!!!!!!

Mcfarlane has an impressive purple label collection...
He's just too cheap to pay for an unrestored copy I look at his collection and think it's pretty sad all that money and you can't have some really nice unrestored Comics graded

I’ll take a purple label of a grail anyday of the week, especially if the restoration is miniscule and noted as such 🤷🏻♂ no big deal.
I have bought several books that were restored while I had no idea they had that until I got them back from CGC. I loved the books but hated that and felt ripped off since that wasn’t disclosed.
I should also state that I don’t mind purple labels if I know in advance. I also love the fact we have someone in the industry filling that restoration space!
Same happen to me with an X-men #101 I got for Christmas. The seller didn't disclose that to my wife that it had touch ups. If I had known,I would of just kept it raw. ( Didn't send it in until about a year later) They even told my wife it was about a 9.4 quality and it came back a 7.5. Was pretty shocked since it was my first graded comics I submitted and planned to send more in, but after that I would just rather buy them slabbed now.
Anyone know what a 7.5 restored X-men #101 is estimated at?
I’m a casual collector with a few great blue label and some sig series by McFarlane, Claremont , Bagley, and Zeck. I do have friendships with a few experts(one owns and operates a comic shop) and none of them will ever do business on a purple CGC. I trust their judgment
I have a purple Silver Surfer 4. The label actually blends with the book & makes it pop. Always look on the bright side
I always felt like restored books are undervalued now in an era of graded books.

Got my FF 1 back with the PLOD. Small amount of glue on spine going to have these guys look at it.
I'm fine with the purple label, it's the green that I'm curious about. I see pre2001 signed books, or books signed at an event that CGC wasn't at, with the green and I feel that this is CGC's way of throwing shade on anything that's not Signature Series. I'd love to hear your crews opinion on this. Thanks
I've been selling a lot of my comics from the 90s I got signed as a kid at conventions that have a green label. There's a market there. I know people say it has a stigma but that may be overblown relative to the amount people that simply don't care and know what X person's signature looks like. Example: Jeff Smith's signature on a Bone book with a sketch of bone next to it.
I have a couple of raw blank sketch cover books. One was done by Phil Hester and the other by a local artist. I have thought about going with CBCS for the Hester book and debating on the one from the local artist. Since I can't verify the local artist, I may go CGC green label as a way to separate those books as local artist sketches.
Agreed. As long as the book is not damaged and the signature is not destroying the art, I’ll take it. But hey, I’m a collector. Not a seller.

I’m never gonna be a fan of any restored collectibles but anyone can collect how they like. I prefer an well aged untampered book rather than a 9.0+ with practically every part of the book is foreign, you might as well just print out a new cover and marry it to the book. I’d probably just buy a facsimile

Personally I don't mind the purple label. I did a whole series on the topic and looked at them from an investment view where I would actually recommend them.

I think I'd rather have the purple resto label than the green "Qualified" 🤷 I have a Qualified Marvel Premiere #15, totally annoying, but it's... Better than not having the book at all.

THOR #25 Joe Romita Jr Gold Cover. Isnt worth a damn thing but to me its worth everything. One of the first books i was able to buy with my own money and i went with my old man.

I still hate the purple label, I have bought before if the book doesn’t have that chemically cleaned look to it. Usually I’ll crack and display in my PC.

I likeum raw and unrestored as nice as I can findum. Don't pressum leaveum be. Goes for everything collectable EVERYTHING.
16 to 24 months? That’s still faster than CGC can press and grade an Economy comic
I got my 1st appearance of Swamp Thing back as restored. I was devasted. I not trying to resell but it just feels like a ghost book now. One that's there but not there.

I would consider a Purple label when a Blue label is out of my price range, and only for Golden & Silver Age books. I've seen Purple labels on Modern books, but those books aren't for me.
I have always been for it-cause lets face it, comics werent meant to last-they WILL have to be looked after in the future-the far future I mean, not 20 yrs from now. And it needs to be NOW, not later, cause by then it will be too late for a lot of books. I mean seriously some of the most famous art and documents in the world needs care or they are gone, same things needs to be done to comics. 'Nuff said :)
The main reason not to get purple label. The resale value will be crushed.

Why would you try to raise the value of your book if you don't have plans to sell it?
Dunno how these guys can causally say only $20,000 with $5,000 to restore a book- HELL I wish I could make that kinds of money.

I copy of the Amazing Spider-Man Man #10 first enforcers one of my teachers from early childhood who taught me how to Read Gave me it's missing the top part of the cover I want to have it Restored
I would rather have a lower grade than a higher purple label.

In 2018, I chose to go with CGC because of their stellar reputation to have Batman #251 certified. Took five weeks and they certified it 7.0 and restored!
This comic has been in the family since the late 1970’s. Was purchased for less than $10 back then, maybe even as low as $1.
I filed a complaint with CGC about the certification explaining the history of this comic and assuring them that there was no way it had ever been restored. And, just putting the bogus statement of “restored” on this comic makes it completely worthless.
They could not explain to me why it was marked as restored.
They told me that I could send it back in to have it re-graded, for another fee, of course. I didn’t choose that option. Why should I pay them again to the job they didn’t do in the first place?
So, I busted the CGC case open, removed the comic, and sent it to CBCS for another opinion. They took only two weeks and gave it a 7.5 with no mention of it being restored.
My opinion is that Certified Collectibles (CGC) cannot be trusted to do the professional job, and should be avoided, always.

Not my cup of tea.. can't stand to have a purple level. I Own about 50 slabs comics all blue chip. I have an AF 15 at 1.5 blue level and will not ever traded for a 7 0 restored. Just my opinion.
The purple label blows. The only era that it's acceptable is in golden age when restoration was considered ok to have tape and glue on books. Outside of that anything newer than golden age you're talking atleast a 40% loss on FMV compared to unrestored

Restoration is often frowned upon across numerous collecting landscapes. Don't take an antique gun and re blue the barrel or sand off rust, don't refinish an antique piece of furniture, don't clean your vintage coins, etc. Original is better unless the book is literally disintegrating and truly needs it ( brittle books ). Purple = ugly!
There's a purple label FF #1 on eBay now... part of the "restoration" is that the book is trimmed on all three open sides! How is that restoration?
