I wish they had kept in the deleted scene between Thranduil and Gandalf when Gandalf reminds him that Legolas is more important that the white jewels. It was a nice scene and nicely set up the farewell scene between Legolas and Thranduil
You and me both! That scene is about 20 seconds possibly 30. They could have added THAT 30 seconds to the Extended edition! It would have fit in nicely. What I do when I watch the Five Armies Extended Edition I cue of the bit of Thranduil lore part 2 from You tube where they show that scene and when it comes up in the film I pause the film and then watch that snippet from You tube and then resume watching the film. It works decently well. Crazy....perhaps but at least I see the scene! :-)
whyareyousofab ?: Legolas will one day be a king. I think for all the love that Thrand has for his son, he cannot afford for Legolas to become soft so that's why he comes off as callous and cold. As much as he loves the kid, he's determined to see to it that Legolas is ready when the time comes.
Cretinous Jester Legolas never takes over rule in his father's realm. Legolas later resides in Ithillian after the war helping to rebuild it. Then he and Gimli eventually sail west in the fourth age after Aragorn's passing.

This song is one of the most wonderful I heard. And connected to Thranduil and Legolas's background history it is absolutely bringing me to tears every time I hear it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. And your voice on it is absolutely fitting and amazing! I love it!

Thranduil's is a backstory I would actually like to see; the life he had with his wife and to discover what happened to her and when Legolas came into their lives. Whatever made him the cold dude we all meet in the beginning has to do with her.
Thank you. I came here for Thranduil and found this superb song that made me cry. Now I want to know more about Vienna Teng. I did not know this existed, shame on me...
Lovely even 3 years later. Hated how the Hobbit movie was done with Leggy and Thranduil at odds and that preposterous love triangle. Would have been so much more positive had they been fighting together.
What a beautiful and touching video. I'm a little late in discovering it. It shows a side of Thranduil I wish the movies would have shown more of. I caught the picture of tribute to the movie The Fall.

Adam Welton, who told you Legolas' mother was one of the Vanyar? Well, she could be half or quarter Noldorin, but never Vayarin. They don't even dwell in Middle-earth. And why did you mentioned Gandalf, or Olorin, if you want to use that name? He has got not much to do with Thranduil or his silvan kin.
You obviously don't pay attention and read between the lines... Thranduil is the way he is for a reason, he is around 6500 yrs old... could you imagine all the things he has seen and been through? He has lost his father, and last but not least his wife, he has been through a lot of crap, and the loss of his wife left him totally heart broken, The necklace he wanted so badly belonged to his wife. The Dwarves did not make anything better, and shame on them Dwarves for taunting him with her necklace and slamming that box shut on him... even still Thranduil tried to work out a deal with them, but it was the last chance he was gonna give them to make a deal without bloodshed. The Dwarves were nothing but greedy bullies to Thranduil, even after all that they did to Thranduil he was still some what civil and treated them with some sort of kindness that they honestly didn't deserve one bit, in the end, the Dwarves died, and they deserved it.
@@That-Wanderer exactly my thinking. I percieved that too and i haven't even seen the hobbit, i've watched just parts but i have to. I'm reading the LOTR and then i'm planning reading all the series and then watch the movies 😍😍😍

Those are some good fanarts! XD. There are some references to other shows/movies in them too. The song fits the pictures perfectly! Also, I think I loved the adult-Legolas and Thranduil better, :).
Wow, I didn't know anyone would make a video of Legolas with this song. One of the scenes in my fanfic (with Legolas ;) of course) was inspired by this song!
Thank you so much for this beautiful song! I am in love with it, have played it at least a hundred times. It really feels elvish to me. Magical awesome voices!
I honestly hate crying but i cant help but cry and smile at the same time once i hear this song. its so beautiful and touching, if i have a child i want to sing this to them
One of the beautiful songs I've ever heard, seriously, I love it. ♡ And the pictures on this video matches with the song in my opinion, good job and like. I love alot elf looking people, just beautiful.. Woah.
I know this is a bunch of years ago and all that, but I'd rather have seen more of Thranduil and Legolas in the Hobbit than Thorin. I seriously disliked his character in the movie, and I'm not sure if that was just the fault of the actor playing him, but he was a real asshole. There was so much they could have done between this father and son, and I love to still see fanart of them everywhere. Then again I'd watch six hours of Lee Pace just being Thranduil. He's just the most beautiful elf in Middle Earth, and nobody can change my mind. The man is a marvel.
Someone please find me an other song to listen to before I break the replay button please. By the I love this. Oh no aaaand my replay button is broken Great. Well I'm gonna go cry myself to sleep now.
I wish I had such attitudes with MY father and especially with my mother, as Legolas had with his father.....((((((((( *bitterly cry* Unfortunately I have never had good ,warm and friendly attitudes with my parents (they were toxic and their fucking "brinning up" only injured my psychic and emotional health forever) ...... *CRY* I even don't know will I ever meet a person who will love me and who will not demand from me anything in exchange for his love........???(((( *CRY...CRY...*
K so like yes this is cute and I’m crying cause I can But..... Tbh I honestly believe that after Thranduils wife dies and what not, I think that he was like sorta cold and serious towards Legolas but also had a kind heart but just never showed it because he was so broken. And with Gandalf when he did the whole speech in the BotFA UGH OML its just so SADDDDDD love this idea though ;))

"Lullabye For A Stormy Night"
Little child, be not afraid
The rain pounds harsh against the glass
Like an unwanted stranger
There is no danger
I am here tonight
Little child
Be not afraid
Though thunder explodes
And lightning flash
Illuminates your tearstained face
I am here tonight
And someday you'll know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you see
In the morning
Little child
Be not afraid
The storm clouds mask your beloved moon
And its candlelight beams
Still keep pleasant dreams
I am here tonight
Little child
Be not afraid
The wind makes creatures of our trees
And the branches to hands
They're not real, understand
And I am here tonight
And someday you'll know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forest and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you see
In the morning
For you know, once even I
Was a little child
And I was afraid
But a gentle someone always came
To dry all my tears
Trade sweet sleep the fears
And to give a kiss goodnight
Well, now I am grown
And these years have shown
Rain's a part of how life goes
But it's dark and it's late
So I'll hold you and wait
'til your frightened eyes do close
And I hope that you'll know
That nature is so
This same rain that draws you near me
Falls on rivers and land
And forests and sand
Makes the beautiful world that you see
In the morning
Everything's fine in the morning
The rain will be gone in the morning
But I'll still be here in the morning

Mirkwood unfortunately ended up being vulnerable in that attack as well, but not for lack of warriors or their bravery but as Legolas said from “over kindliness” in letting Gollum out for fresh air in an attempt to rehabilitate him.
Which brings us to another characteristic of Mirkwood--the idea that Gollum could be rehabilitated. That kindliness towards a creature of the dark was not in vain. This is not a realm “"fighting the long defeat” as Galadriel says in Lothlorien. This is a realm that is fighting to maintain and overcome. A realm that has hope. Where guards feel pity for a twisted, pathetic creature that has been put in their care and consider kindness as a way to reach him. They have not given up, even though the odds may be against them.
It takes a very powerful person to maintain that level of motivation and dedication in his people, despite the circumstances. That Thranduil was able to do that on his own, with no Ring, is a testament to his character as a leader.

Some of those pics are just so sweet... others are even poetic... and with this music... just the perfect match. Thank you!
That artwork is amazing especially where grown Leggy and thranduil stand in the dark hands together. I felt that
This song is one of the most wonderful I heard. And connected to Thranduil and Legolas's background history it is absolutely bringing me to tears every time I hear it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. And your voice on it is absolutely fitting and amazing! I love it!
Ever wondered why Lorien needed a ring of power to endure, how did Thranduil maintain his realm without a ring of power? With sheer strength of will, the unwavering loyalty of his subjects and a fierce determination to keep as much of his realm from corruption as he could. He didn't have the benefit of a Ring, which enhanced the realms of Lothlorien and Rivendell. Those realms had a somewhat protected existence, being peaceful havens (although Rivendell had been besieged in the past, I believe that was before the Ring passed to Elrond from Ereinion Gil-Galad).
Thranduil’s realm may have been modeled on Doriath but it had none of the protection Doriath had and likely not the numbers of inhabitants either. It survived and succeeded because of Thranduil and his priorities during his reign. The Mirkwood kingdom appears to have been a strong collaboration between the Sindar and Silvan elements of the population. The armies of Mirkwood were vigilant and likely continually engaged in the scouting and defense of their realm from encroachment by the Necromancer. I think Thranduil realized he could not bring an all-out assault on Dol Guldur--the power residing there being darker and more powerful than others realized. But the fact that they kept going, fighting that darkness, aware and watchful for many, many years is a testament to his dedication to his land and his people.
It might have been easier with a Ring but a Ring of Power so close to Sauron (and then later Nazgûl) in Dol Guldur could have been an utter disaster.
He was a disciplined King, with skilled and disciplined warriors who were fiercely loyal to him. It is worth noting that Gandalf brought Gollum to Thranduil’s halls for safe keeping. Not Rivendell or Lothlorien or the Havens. Perhaps bringing Gollum to Lothlorien or Rivendell would have drawn Sauron’s attention and brought the risk of attack (as happened in Mirkwood with the Orc raid that liberated Gollum) on realms that were more vulnerable to outright assault.
Anyway just my jumbled, random thoughts on Thranduil and Mirkwood. He is definitely one character I wish Tolkien had explored further and written about more. That’s how great Thranduil is meanwhile it’s not shown too well in the films but in other aspects they did him great!
Thranduil's is a backstory I would actually like to see; the life he had with his wife and to discover what happened to her and when Legolas came into their lives. Whatever made him the cold dude we all meet in the beginning has to do with her.
Gonna sing this for my child when I have one.
葬儀屋 same 😊. I wouldn't do it justice but meh.
Same
gonna sing this to my future husb which is legolas
Flixey hope you don't mind sharing him with several thousand other fangirls 😂
Yeah, me too. :)
Thranduil looks like a wonderful father....I wish I were his wife and watch Legolas grow
Ngayalmu terlalu tinggi mbak ngak usah ngimpii
1:53 picture is so beautiful...so real,
Love them both.
Your mother loved you Legolas. More than anything. More than life.
Watched this like ten times since I found it at the beginning of the month, beautiful
What a such beautiful song! The pictures are amazing!
I caught the picture of tribute to the movie The Fall.
beautiful Legolas With Tranduil 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Thranduil acts as a tyrant but he is kind to Legolas as a little kid. Wow :O
Why would you think that Thranduil was a tyrant????
I truly adore this song, and the incredibly beautiful voice singing it! I come back time and again and love it more every time I hear it!
Thranduil with Legolas is so cute 😍😍😍😭😭😭
I don't know who has drawn these pictures... They are so great and close to my heart. I wish I could get an fully illustrated version of The Lord of the Rings books where each page will be decorated with these beautiful pictures.

So moving certainly brought tears to my eyes
I have mad respect for any elf that lived through the first age
Oh oh this us so precious. The art clips and the song❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beauty of elves are really majestic.
Those are some good fanarts! XD. There are some references to other shows/movies in them too. The song fits the pictures perfectly! Also, I think I loved the adult-Legolas and Thranduil better, :).
Beautiful but very painful for those of us whose Fathers died when we were small children so that we never really knew them.
Ithila but you have a heavenly Father that loves you..
One of the most beautiful lullabies I have ever heard in all my 45 years!
Wow, I didn't know anyone would make a video of Legolas with this song. One of the scenes in my fanfic (with Legolas ;) of course) was inspired by this song!
Snow White That’s cool 😄
ohh😢😢the song makes me cry😢😢
Thank you so much for this beautiful song! I am in love with it, have played it at least a hundred times. It really feels elvish to me. Magical awesome voices!

You really have a magical voice! Beautiful song. Well done about a million times
jennifer McDonald Its not me singing
The lyrics are very beautiful ...
why am I crying..this is so beautiful
This was...... beautiful 💘 I'm not crying! You're crying 😭
This is rather beautiful.
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL I CRIED.
Beautiful song with fantastic pictures to go with it.
This helped me with my headache from listening to all that rock music all day
This song makes me so happy
I know this is a bunch of years ago and all that, but I'd rather have seen more of Thranduil and Legolas in the Hobbit than Thorin. I seriously disliked his character in the movie, and I'm not sure if that was just the fault of the actor playing him, but he was a real asshole. There was so much they could have done between this father and son, and I love to still see fanart of them everywhere. Then again I'd watch six hours of Lee Pace just being Thranduil. He's just the most beautiful elf in Middle Earth, and nobody can change my mind. The man is a marvel.
So beautiful and precious...
I loved the version of this clip with Thranduil e legolas
I guess you just have to get to know Legolas and Thranduil
Oh this is just so damn beautiful! Both the song and the pictures - beautifully done♥
Someone please find me an other song to listen to before I break the replay button please. By the I love this. Oh no aaaand my replay button is broken Great. Well I'm gonna go cry myself to sleep now.
Why I feel like crying....
I'm crying!!!!!!! 😢😢😢😢 It is soooo beautiful!!!!
SO BEAUTIFUL!
Beautiful Pictures and a wonderful voice!
Started crying when the child came in singing with the mother :'(
This is so beautiful it hurts! Truly amazing
*CRY*
I even don't know will I ever meet a person who will love me and who will not demand from me anything in exchange for his love........???(((( *CRY...CRY...*
I so love this video it so cute and sweet
I would be glad if Thrandil were my father 💔😢💖😥😔
soo beautiful art and song!!
This is beautiful 😘❤️
This had me in tears
K so like yes this is cute and I’m crying cause I can
But.....
Tbh I honestly believe that after Thranduils wife dies and what not, I think that he was like sorta cold and serious towards Legolas but also had a kind heart but just never showed it because he was so broken. And with Gandalf when he did the whole speech in the BotFA UGH OML its just so SADDDDDD
love this idea though ;))
It makes me cry😢
Legolas😍😍😍😍😍

So nice. I love my dad so much. Thank you very much.
I have to show this song to my daughters...
it is very good
I love you legolas
Is, my love legolas
Tenero e comovente... Bellissimo !
Thranduil is not a tyrant in the books. I would like to think that he is more like how he is portrayed in this song. Love the song. I like the films but they portray him unfairly.
+Snowline Yeah, he wasn't as much a jerk in the books.
Finished the video, finished the tissues
My heart hurts like HELL😂
