  • FishTrack provides the latest Chlorophyll imagery to show the density of phytoplankton in the water. Phytoplankton is a primary food source for most species of baitfish. Find clear, blue water and locate ocean frontal boundaries and eddies. The frontal boundaries between cold, nutrient and plankton rich waters and warmer, nutrient poor, clear blue waters are an excellent place to locate species such as billfish, tuna and other species of pelagics that will gather to feed on concentrations of baitfish and squid.
Most large pelagic species are ambush predators that feed by sight, so you will often find them on the edges between clear blue water and cool, nutrient rich waters. Finding these frontal boundaries between bodies of warm and cool waters is key to finding concentrations of pelagic fish. These offshore frontal boundaries will also accumulate patches of seaweed such as Sargassum and Kelp that provide cover for bait and can provide excellent fishing in many regions.
