  • Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed by Chelsea following a season-end review by the club. His departure came just one year into his two-year contract, which included an option for a 12-month extension. The decision was made by mutual consent, with the 52-year-old Argentine leaving immediately. Pochettino's tenure was marked by various challenges and unmet expectations, leading to this early termination of his contract. The club is now focused on finding a new head coach to steer the team forward.

    Hussam is bang on about the fanbase. I think Mo let his imagination go wild with the youth for profit model idea. If Chelsea’s plan is to meddle in the first team to maximise profit in sales, they wouldn’t be splashing £120m on Caicedo and Enzo. They want to buy youth players - get the players direct and not have to buy them from Brighton later. I highly doubt it’s a “we buy players to sell for profit, not achieve trophies” model that Mo was implying. They’re just not going to buy the cow when they can get the milk for free.
    On Hussam’s point - really interesting and I never put it together that I could be an age thing. The fanbase is all over the place with what they want, what they view as untenable, how little patience they have and what they deem as success in a given season.
    I don’t care if jackson was playing CB - no one should’ve made a judgement on poch until March at the least. He had a track record, so it’s not like he is a random dude pulled off the street with no history behind him. With the squad he had, coupled with the injuries, he was always going to need time to assess what he had and get his ideas across to a team full of players with both no experience and having never played together before. I remember the pre-abramovich days and hussam may be right that there is an age divide because most chelsea youtubers were poch out and now most are crying about the club sacking him. Don was poch out in October. That was 2 months in!
    The ownership have no history in the game and are learning on the job. They’ve made plenty of bad mistakes but their biggest one is paying attention to the vocal fanbase that doesn’t know what it wants.
    I’ve listened/watched maybe 15 different chelsea youtubers/podcasts reaction in the last day and the only consistent thing is that no one is being consistent about anything.
    “But the manager market is dead”
    “Anybody would be better than poch”
    - poch sacked: list of possible successors realeased -
    “None of these are chelsea standard”
    Hussam is entirely correct - the only way the fanbase isn’t calling for the new guy’s head in December is if he has a monumentally good start and we are top 3 at Christmas.

    I havent heard a single chelsea fan say they think sacking poch was a good decision. Its also pretty clear that poch himself played a part in leaving due to differences with the board. This guy speaks so confidently yet has no idea what the actual situation is at the club

    I think you’ve misinterpreted De Zerbi. Don’t think he wanted control of transfers, he just didn’t agree with the direction of the club and policy on transfers. I.e. buy young players to develop and then sell your best ones every year. He wants to build a team that can compete with a mixture.

    Not saying for one second that McKenna isn’t a risk. But people need to remember that he was literally apart of Jose Mourinho coaching staff and was the main first team coach alongside Carrick under ole’s regime. He’s helped us to decent league finishes and good run spells in Europe. He’s definitely capable of handling big dressing room personalities, potter was a good manager but just couldn’t cope with the bigger egos having coming from Brighton where he was the main focus. McKenna isn’t the same. If united are truly on a 3-4 year rebuild I would definitely take him as I believe he will develop into a really good manager.

    • @palynch
      @palynch 24 дні тому

      I'm not saying McKenna couldn't work but at the same time do United really want a developing manager alongside a developing squad? We're strapped for cash, any manager, be it ETH or a new manager, will definitely need to get European football not just next season but consistently. Idk if a manager learning on the job can achieve that.

    • @yelladean2598
      @yelladean2598 24 дні тому

      @@palynch I mean that’s exactly what Arsenal did. Personally I think it would not make sense to appointing a high calibre manager to develop this team unless he’s willing to ride that protest which I don’t think many would just look at poch for example. I’m not under this illusion that we definitely need to get European football unless your talking about Europa league. It’s going to take some time and people need to ready for that. Anyone thinking it’s a scenario where we get Top4 next season and then challenging the following is in cuculand

    • @palynch
      @palynch 24 дні тому +1

      @yelladean2598 I get the Arteta comparison but a couple of things debunk that in United's case.
      1. Arsenal had a proper board structure in place when Arteta took over. Ineos don't have their's in place yet.
      2. Arsenal board were much more financially stable and willing to take losses on players and missing out on European football if it meant long term stability. Glazers, who still own 75%, have shown the opposite.
      3. United are already going through their bad spell and are in a state of flux, if McKenna is appointed it means their solution is to sack the manager when things go bad. There is zero evidence from board level or even from a fan level that a coach like McKenna would be supported through the envitable bad spell every team has.

    I love Straight Facts but the contributors are full of contradictions. Right now Poch has left the club and left it in a much 'stabilized' position in terms of the squad cohesion, so we as Chelsea we need to build upon that by bringing a top class manager to elevate the squad.
      Whereas Man United are in a different phase to us, so McKenna would be much suited maybe to deal with that task of trying to stabilize them, but not us. Sorry.

    • @palynch
      @palynch 24 дні тому

      @Wonder0104 I agree to you to some extent but why would you get an inexperienced coach take possibly the biggest job in British football to "stabilise" them? if anything the fact that Chelsea are stable means it's a better fit for McKenna.

  • @justlooking1087

    Personally, I felt like we should’ve kept Poch for the sake of continuity. However, this “haha look at Chelsea, their board is ruining the club with this decision” analysis is just lazy. If we get the right manager in, I think we will be fine, and I hope so just because of rivals who use this lazy analysis. Some of the things they are saying are correct, but I really don’t like this arrogant, we know better than everyone attitude. They don’t even know who this Marasca guy is and they’ve already claimed he’ll fail. Poch was far from perfect this season.

But what I do care is bring me positive results, which means the club must be permanently in UCL stories every possible season. To win PL title is impossible for every PL club except MC. As long as Pep is in there plus Qatar state money is there as well nobody has a chance to win that title. Since this situation In PL was established this title has been devalued, therefore the table places from 2nd to 4th became much more valuable now.

      ...because...?
      All players have a price, particularly if they tell their club they want to leave.

    Why do we not have any Chelsea fans on this? Just two guys who clearly hate Chelsea

      No I don't see it like, just us as Chelsea fans we are oblivious in regards to what is happening to our club for the past two seasons, never mind the managers. This guy who I don't know, is just saying it as it is in terms of how these owners are actually ruining our club right before our eyes and some of fans just don't want to listen to rational people.
      They would rather listen to the PR driven by the owners.
      Mainstream media has all seeked to deceive people rather than reporting on the real stuff.
      I mean journos such as Fab, Orstein and Matt Law etc.
      Who are actually paid by the club to do this.

    Know-it-all Hussam always generalizes. All the accusations he is throwing at us. I NEVER for once did them. I back every manager and do believe in us becoming stable is key to start fixing all other problems. It seems like he interacts with a lot of kids online and that is the worst place to get to know reasonable people. Every time he is on, i end up leaving the stream. Mate, you're so obsessed with being right while having no idea that it's not true!
    Not being a fan of the current owners doesn't mean I'm worshipping Roman. I actaully didn't like many things Roman did and was always concerned about how legal his operations are!
    It is very insulting when you generalize your theories on everyone. I hope you grow more compassion and stop obsessing over that! Other than that, I love most of your streams Terry!
