  • On our second day of our Byaheng Maguindanao, we explored some of the most colorful sights in Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur and Cotabato City.
We started the day at the Blue Lagoon in Datu Odin Sinsuat where we got to sample some of the local delicacies including the famous pastil.
We then drove two hours to visit the magnificent new capitol building of Maguindanao del Sur in Buluan. This was followed by several site visits of community-based tourism projects in G.S.K. Pendatum, Paglat, Datu Hoffer and Datu Piang where local cooperatives make colorful hand-woven inaul fabrics and native handicrafts made from bamboo, water hyacinth, abaca and other indigenous materials.
The highlight of the day is a visit to the most colorful mosque in the Philippines, the Pink Mosque in Datu Saudi Ampatuan.
We capped the day with a welcome dinner at the People's Palace in Cotabato City, where we got the chance to taste the delicious Maguindanao dishes and watch the beautiful dances of the Maguindanaos.
