I am glad I read the comments, I thought I was losing my mind. I saw you tie this just after it went up but didn't have any problem with the sound. Thanks for saying so as I often have times I think I am losing it. I think it is because I am always at home caring for my wife. Nice tie twice. ; ) Sean
Hi Jay, Grey Squirrel dyed black, bucktail or even arctic fox would do just as well if you can't find the runner. Veniards sell the Arctic runner so if you know a shop that stock their materials then I'm sure they should be able to help you... All the very best Davie...
hi davie really nice fly,I have tied a few flies with bug bond on the butt I have not varnished over it will the bug bond be ok what is the advantage of the varnish ? thanks for another great tye.
Hi George B, I've found it works fine and helps keep the resin bright and clear, I have always varnished over the the old epoxy resins as well as the new UV version as they always feel tacky after they set and the varnish stops this..I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks again for the kind words... All the very best Davie
Hi Thats nice Double hooks are still very popular with many anglers that fish for salmon though over that last few years rules on some waters will only allow you to use a single due to catch and release..I personally like to use tube flies as you can use whatever hook you like.. All the very best Davie
Have you heard anyone using this type fly for LANDLOCKED salmon? One would think that the landlock would strike it for the same reason the sea runs do. Thoughts? Great tie
Hi Bob, Sorry about the delay in getting back to you...I'm no expert when it comes to the landlocked salmon as you may know we don't have any here in Scotland...I did look at many of the flies used for landlocked salmon and I would say it would be a good colour combination for these fish and certainly worth a go... All the very best Davie
Hi Davie i enjoy watching all your flytying videos can i be cheeky and ask you for one of your salmon flies on a piece of white card with your autograph on please many thanks Steve Reece.
Hi Steve, If I said yes to you, by the end of the night I would be inundated with requests for flies so I'm sorry to say no, but If we ever meet then I would be very happy to do this for you..I'm glad you enjoy the the videos, and you are not being cheeky... All the very best Davie
Hi Dave, I just want to thank you for putting these videos of salmon flies on you tube , they really are helping me improve my own salmon flies.
