Even for true R&B fans - we tend to separate it by era i.e. this is 90s R&B (very smooth, sensual, body roll type music) - Ne-Yo is more 2000s R&B which IMO had more of a pop influence... 80s R&B was very 'quiet storm'esque and modern R&B today is very trap/hip-hop influenced.
