New 2024 Mazda CX-80 - Premium 3-row Family SUV

the all-new Mazda CX-80 is the second of two new models for Europe from the company’s Large Product group. It is the most spacious car in Mazda’s European line-up and will become the new flagship for Mazda in the region.
If the CX-80 looks familiar it’s because it’s the big brother of the five-seat Mazda CX-60 that arrived in 2022. Both SUVs are designed around the same philosophies, sit on the same platform and are offered with the same choice of powertrains: a company car tax-friendly plug-in hybrid and a straight-six diesel.
The CX-80 measures 4,995 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,710 mm tall and has a wheelbase spanning 3,120 mm. That makes it 250 mm longer, 24 mm higher and with a 250 mm longer wheelbase than the CX-60, which shares the same width.
Two types of electrified powertrains are available for Europe: 'e-SKYACTIV PHEV,' a plug-in hybrid system based on a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine, and 'e-SKYACTIV D,' which combines a 3.3-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel engine with M Hybrid Boost. Both powertrains are aimed to deliver the joy of driving at will with a superior environmental performance.
The e-Skyactiv PHEV has a total system output of 327 PS and 500 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, has a top speed of 195 km/h, and offers 61 km of all-electric driving.
The e-Skyactiv D generates 254 PS, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 219 km/h.
Both powerplants are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and Mazda’s i-Activ All-Wheel Drive system. Mazda Intelligent Drive Select also offers a choice of four drive modes (plus EV mode for the PHEV) as already introduced in the CX-60.
The CX-80’s platform features double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension to ensure high levels of ride comfort, a stable posture and smooth body control. Its rear-biased, permanent all-wheel drive system combines the stability and traction of AWD with the neutral cornering characteristics of a rear-wheel drive set-up. The all-new Mazda CX-80 also has an impressive towing capacity of 2,500 kg.
The CX-60 and CX-80 are primarily targeted at Europe, the UK and Japan; while the longer and wider CX-70 and CX-90 have been developed for the Americas.
Prices for the Mazda CX-80 will start from £48,920 . That’s only £3,600 more than the CX-60’s base price and nearly £11,000 less than the entry-level Volvo XC90.
