The thing that bothers me about the Milliken situation isn't the fact that he was fishing without a license, its that he jokes about what happened as if he's above everything. Im surprised his head fits through his front door bc his ego is gigantic ever since he fished the elites. Dude is arrogant as hell.
@@bluegrassbass He had knowingly not had a fishing license for a long time. CT covered that already. This was beyond a simple mistake and that is exactly what Texas F&G is going to go after him for.
As a responsible fishermen who loves the sport, asking yourself if you have a fishing license should be the first thing on your mind before heading out to any body of water to fish.
He is philosophically opposed to people needing to purchase a fishing license. He thinks that should be covered by other taxes or some other hair brained rationale. Him not buying a license is him living his "sovereign fisherman" philosophy- just like those idiots who think having to buy a drivers license is an assault on their rights. He is a wack-a-doodle.
Shit happens man. Mine is automatically renewed and the card it was setup on expired. I never got an email for it. Thank God I got an email for my hunting license or I would have been fishing without a license... Obviously it was resolved but again shit happens.
Never been a Milliken fan. It always amazes and angers me when guys like him think the rules don't apply to them. I have never and will never purchase equipment associated with him.
@ I have to admit I was all in on 6th Sense at one time, but when Milliken came on board I was out. I won’t buy their stuff anymore. To me, if you’re not going to eat a fish there is no reason to mistreat them. I try to handle all fish with care, even the dinks. I watched how trout fisherman handle their fish with care and I have always respected that and copied it. I don’t watch Milliken’s videos, I didn’t know he mistreated fish.
Randy I grew up in Texas and I know that they don't put up with people fishing without a license.I had a friend back in the day that got a heavy fine for his license being out after 2 days.If Ben's license was out he brought that problem on himself and he has nobody to blame but himself.
The shopping spree was gear he dropped off from HIS house because HE had too much gear, the whole event prize was put on by the company HE owned. There’s literally proof of him dropping all the gear off🤦♂️

I wonder how many other Fish & Game rules he has broken in his life ??? This behavior is very rarely a one-off !!! There are people who are totally comfortable breaking the Law and people who are not !!! Honesty and Integrity are lifelong characteristics that are formed from a very early age. Again, how many other Fish and Games laws/rules has he broken in his life ???
I've seen video's of how he treats bass. He is not a good example for fish care and sustainability and survival after what he puts them through by emptying out his entire catch from the live well onto the floor of his boat.
He admitted to the Warden he didn't have a valid license when he caught the fish on a recorded call. He definitely tried to pull a fast one and got caught. He also put fishing videos out for 5 months before he renewed his license. He should have his license revoked immediately. Still guys stick up for him? I heard he hooks a new lure he wants to sell to a pre caught bass then pretends to reel it in. Also we all know it wasn't a Tourney, but there was a free mount and a prize package so there is the fraud motivation...or he just doesn't care and thought he outsmarted the law. I won't miss him.
That game warden who called him and got him to admit his wrong is the man!.. made him feel comfortable enough to confess on himself. Give that guy a gold star. True professional of his craft💪..

@@havenshooksettv7853 Who cares about the gear, he broke the law. He got caught and then admitted the fraud. I'm sure he didn't care about the gear but why the deception then. Plus he fished for over 5 months without a valid license. He is just a big mouth with no respect for the law. He caught a huge fish-then realized his license expired-then went online and renewed-then submitted the fish 3 min later. It'd pretty obvious except for his Fangirls to understand. Poor Ben, I hope he gets his license revoked for a year. Bassmaster must be so proud of him. I wouldn't doubt his videos are staged also.
If Milliken cheated in the Lunker Program what about his integrity when he is Fishing an Elite tournament with no Marshal in the boat or a local tournament. If the heart is corrupt the man is corrupt.
Years ago before his bigger following on UA-cam he would post some questionable videos. One video I remembered watching he was weighing his bass with the old school metal hook scale and he was literally puncturing holes in the fishes mouth to get the hook in to weigh the fish instead of hooking under the gills like it's supposed to be used. I then commented on the video mentioning the correct way to use it and got a smartass comment back. And I understand u can eat bass but true bass fisherman release everyone because they are looked at as game fish and protecting our prize fish. And I remember him catching bass and wacking them over the head to kill the fish. And I never watched another Milliken video again. Then years pass and I hear his name in the bassmaster elites winning tournaments. Which is crazy to believe from watching his earlier videos. There is indeed a little corruption in his heart or he's that good at using livescope. Or a combination of both
@@jheiny1231 Using the old style weight scale, with hook, by hanging a fish in the gill cavity can easily damage the gills, cause bleeding, and kill the fish, IF the fish is still actively moving around. Ben Milliken is that good with FFS, as are a number of other tournament fishermen.
@disaksen7238 that is wrong. Been around for a long time before mouth clamp style clips were being used. What is absolutely wrong and deadly is puncturing the gills area with hook to weigh the fish. I don't know how u can argue the correct way to use it is more dangerous.
The shopping spree was gear he dropped off from HIS house because HE had too much gear, the whole event prize was put on by the company HE owned. There’s literally proof of him dropping all the gear off🤦♂️
@ Hard to put a price tag on the boost to his ego and potential material for his videos and marketing. Your excuse and justification is pathetic. Either his signature and name means something or it doesn't.
We all know before we throw that line if our license is valid or not. Ben has done so much bad for the sport, it’s a shame. He’s the future of Bass fishing and that’s scary.
I don’t think Randy gave a crap about a drawing for the chance to win a 5k shopping spree. This was about the vanity of having the fish registered and his you tube audience.
@@horbie5039 I don't think it was about the money or his youtube audience the legacy program involves the state collecting the fish to use for spawning programs. My understanding is that after he caught it someone told him about the program and told him to submit the fish to the program so the state could breed it, which is beneficial to other anglers in the state. So even if it was partially selfish he also contributed back to the program as was intended. And the way I see it now, the state got a bass to use for breeding in February, and they found the license issue and corrected it before the prize was given out. So he didn't benefit from breaking the rules, and upon them seeing the issue he didn't try to hide from the fact that he did it. And let's be honest he very likely didn't read the rules when he was signing up on the boat so I don't think he knowingly tried to get around the rules of the contest. So him saying it was a misunderstanding is probably honest. I don't see him trying to be deceptive at any point in the process, and yeah he didn't have a license but that may have also been an oversight where he thought he had it on auto-renew or something.
I would actually respect Milliken if he did come on the channel and be a bit humble and ask forgiveness. Admit his mistake and so on. I don't think he would do that. He should.
He can't. He is at least going to spend several months in jail, have his fishing license revoked for the year or indefinitely and be exiled from pro fishing.
The folks that defend Ben Milliken say that he’s being singled out unfairly and being made an example of. The only person who has singled out Ben Milliken is Ben himself. When you create a persona that demands attention, you’d better be ready for attention of all kinds and you’d better make sure your behavior is beyond reproach. There are plenty of UA-cam fishermen that make their fishing skills the focus of their channel, but there are some that feel the need to create a character, and then whine when people judge that character’s behavior. Ben is now the latter, and he’s shown that while he may BE a character, he doesn’t have any character.
I totally agree with everything you have written. I used to periodically watch Milliken’s channel but stopped watching after I came to the decision he was a bit arrogant and condescending. The last video I watched was shortly after he had been charged where he did not talk about the charges other to say he would not comment because of pending litigation. I made similar comments to your’s that if he was a professional fisherman there was no excuse for not having a fishing licence. I also wrote that since he put himself out there with his UA-cam videos, he therefore needed to stand up like a professional by owning up to his mistakes. I could not believe all the negative responses I got to my comments.
Good take. He basically turned himself into the Ronda Rousey of professional bass fishing. He had a big mouth, but then got knocked the eff out. Now his fans wonder why people enjoy watching him squirm!
It’s bigger then we think it is. If he didn’t have a license that time in Texas what about the tournaments he may or may have not won in Texas and he didn’t have a license.
Texas fishing licenses run 365 days from date of purchase so it is necessary to recheck your wallet each time before going out fishing. It’s possible his license expired 1-2 weeks earlier and he hadn’t noticed. Oklahoma runs Jan 1 - Dec 31 regardless of the time of year that you purchase it. I always know I am due the very first time I go to Oklahoma each year. I’m not excusing him just saying it is easier to forget on the 12 month from date of purchase licenses. I’d have to check mine in TX right now - don’t even know if it’s still valid or not. I know for sure my OK expired 17 days ago.
@@manwithears355 He lied after the fact. When I was an investigator, you wouldn't believe how many cases that would have been simple cases that turned into major cases because of the cover-up. The cover-up is almost always bigger than the original crime. Consciousness of guilt is easy to spot.
@ He was without a license for 6-7 months prior to his "oh crap! renewal". The dude simply doesn't think he should have to buy a license! Now he will learn the hard way.
Everyone makes a mistake. I mean I get he may have forgotten to get his license. It happens. But to try and get the license after the fact. So he could win a contest. Well that's a different story. Sometimes you just gotta admit you screwed up .
He said that on his ch as soon as his lawyer told him could talk about it. But people like Randy only live in a hate the world and everyone who has caught bigger fish than him. He forgets Ben was catching monster bass before any ffs came out.
@@jasonk5979 I am sure he could have gone on TX parks and wildlife to prove it to the game warden. He made a mistake. But he broke a law with that mistake
He wasn’t trying to win anything!! He didn’t enter the fish to win money! He entered the fish so they could spawn that big momma and help produce more big fish. There is way more to this story than any of us know! We should really wait and hear the whole story!
I don’t think he gave a crap about the chance to win a 5k shopping spree. I think he registered that fish for the prestige and his you tube followers. I believe he was arrogant and didn’t believe it was a big deal at the time. When it was all said and done, that fish was used for the greater good of the fishery. This isn’t the crime of the century, but there will be a price to pay. I’m guessing it will be short of losing his license unless someone wants to make an example of him.
It’s sickening. Looks like it’s 2 charges to me. Number 1 fishing without a license which is more than likely a summons. Number 2 obtain money by false pretenses which could be a felony by the dollar amount being obtained. Then just the lack of respect by him if the picture of him is true. Shows a lack of responsibility taking on his behave. Total ban from tournament competition if found guilty or taken a plea to a lessor charge. IMO
My understanding is that he didn't even really sign up to try to win, he caught the fish and someone with him told him he should submit it to the sharelunker legacy program because the state could use the fish for breeding purposes. So he did it so the state could breed bigger fish, according to him he wasn't aware of the program prior to that, and when they called him out on the timing of the catch he was honest about it, and thus disqualified from getting any prizes. He very likely didn't even read through all the rules if a buddy he was with was telling him to just sign up and do it.
@@Danthrax66 wow if that’s the case it was a very poor decision that unfortunately for him well follow him for a long time. It’s one thing to go to court another is public opinion. Hopefully it well work out for him.
Hell, we banned a dude for life from our local kayak club after finding out he was fishing our events without a license....it was actually suspended, I believe!
The major question is- when did he last have a Texas fishing license? If he had a Texas fishing license last year and it recently expired suggesting that maybe forgot to renew it that’s not as bad, but if he didn’t have a Texas fishing license at all last year or it last expired many many months from when he caught the share lunker bass then that makes it much more worse for him IMO.
Normal Texas fishing license expire the end of August but you can buy a license at any time and be charged a prorated fee and it will expire one year from that date. Most likely Ben's been fishing and filming since September 1st. without a license, 7 months. It is possible the Texas Parks and Wildlife could view some of his youtube videos and more charges be added.
Texas F&W sends me multiple emails and texts reminding me to renew my license prior to and after it expires, and I live in Arkansas. If he’s saying “I forgot”, that isn’t an excuse.
The Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact, of which Texas and most other states are members, provides for the possibility that someone who loses their hunting/fishing license in a member state could also lose their right to buy a license in all other member states. If Milliken is convicted and the Compact deems his infraction serious enough Milliken could, in essence, lose his ability to tournament fish for the length of his license suspension. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Ben’s OWN “confession” on the RECORDED phone call, will be what convicts him. As for “other” charges…..it’s quite possible that his own UA-cam videos could provide evidence that will incriminate him.
I have no problem with him catching that fish without a valid license, I believe that was a mistake. To get his license after the fact to win a tournament is not good. If these time lines are good that makes him a POS thief.
Had a childhood friend that tried that several years ago in Arkansas. Caught a new state record only to find out he bought his bass before getting license and didn’t catch it with a rod and reel. He was caught. He got fined etc. Millican should pay the fine and move on.
Everything you ever post about is just to stir up unnecessary drama! I'm not a fan of Ben Milligan but I've seen several people fish a professional tournament and not have their license. I agree he should pay the fine for no fishing license but that's it he didn't do anything else wrong! And do you know who donates the $5,000 worth a tackle 6th SENSE his own company!
You’re taking to much pleasure in commenting on someone you don’t like. Would you commenting if it were anybody else? No,you’re not neutral or unbiased. Just leave it alone.
Randy isn't the television news- he has no duty to be "neutral or unbiased". Schadenfreude is a real feeling when someone as arrogant as Ben Me-liking gets his comeuppance.
If found guilty on any level BASS should issue at least a 1 year suspension. They should also threaten a life time ban if he tries to compete in a rival organization while under suspension. In fact he should be suspended pending the conclusion of any investigation or trial.Professional athletes in other sports get suspended for personal violations all the time.
I've said it before and will say it again...please, get back to giving tips and advice on fishing. Now, you are doubling down on bashing people. This has NOTHING to do with fishing tips or advice and is an actual attack on a fellow fisherman. You, yourself, have admitted to violating rules, maybe unintentionally, but you still did it. This ongoing bashing is not good for the sport. You are ANYTHING but neutral and unbiased. I'm withdrawing my membership and blocking you.
If you were neutral and unbias you would not have started out with well known "spot lighter". He was wrong in what was done even though no money changed hands. Keep to the FFS debate where you can be biased cause the unbias angle isnt working. FFS is killing the sport and the fisheries,I'll agree with you on that and have.
No, you’re not on this side of the angler because if you were, you wouldn’t be insulting the entire Bass angler community with your insults about spotlighting as you call it! Second of all anyone who knows Ben knows that he doesn’t need the money and he’s not a dumb guy he’s human. We make human mistakes and errors in life. I’m pretty sure you made your own Randy! Quite literally, everyone makes mistakes - you are correct that intent plays a role - you are assuming (not a good way to operate) that he did what he did so he could win the $5000 - In watching his video of the catch (I am not a big fan of his, yet I went and watched the video of this lunker catch) - it appeared that he was eager to make sure the fish was well cared for and properly handed off to the DNR Share Lunker program - so his intentions at that point appear good/positive/ethical, he is trying to make sure this fish can become part of the Share Lunker program (and possibly provide more fish of that size for all of us to catch) - this brings me to several questions - Was the paperwork for processing the share lunker fish general paperwork (ie, separate from paper work used to enter into the $5000 prize drawing) ? - or was it all the same paperwork (ie, all people who fill out the form, regardless of whether they want to be part of the $5000 drawing or not, is there an option on the form to opt out of being part of the $5000 drawing ?) - You are assuming he had the intent of swindling/lying his way in to winning $5000 in prizes (ie, you are assuming bad/unethical intent) - I will play devil's advocate and presume his intent was fully to preserve this awesome fish and have it become part of the Share Lunker program and that he signed the paperwork so that the fish could enter that program/not to win a prize (that is assuming good/ethic intent) - He was honest and forthcoming with the truth when he was asked about purchasing the license after catching the fish - Should he have told the DNR people right then and there that he had caught it without a license ? Yes. - Did they ask him at the time he handed it over to them ? It does not appear that they did. - Many people (including you) are assuming he had unethical/bad intent (ie, did it only to win the money) - This is a guy who has money, works for a lure making company, fishes on the pro tour, seemingly treats his kids/wife/fish well - he doesn't need the $5000 in prizes - Did he make an error in signing the papers ? Yes. - I believe this is being way overblown - Look, there is now a 13 plus pound bass in the Share Lunker program that can bred and give all of use more chances to catch monster bass, he handled the fish with care and got it in to the hands of the right people, he did many positive/good things in that process - Give him a fine, withdraw him from the contest and move forward.....many more things in this world to legitimately be concerned with......
Given the testimony of the "arresting officer" that when he called Ben he was honest about buying the license after he caught the fish that makes it seem like his intent wasn't to deceive and he genuinely misunderstood or never fully read the rules when signing up, which is why he said it was a misunderstanding.
Meh. People get caught fishing without a license all the time. It's a $50 fine here. Throwing him in jail, arresting him, etc seems excessive. However, if he won any tournaments during that time, he should have to pay back all the winnings.

So every commenter on here has never fished without a license or one recently expired, driven without a license on you or with an expired license, never trespassed on private property to fish, never towed your boat with an expired trailer license, never exceeded the speed limit or rolled through a stop sign while driving, etc. Everyone truly believes that a simple $30 annual fee was purposely shirked in an attempt to get away with something. I hope all the people are aware that in Alabama and Texas, your fishing renewal date is September 1, in Illinois and Wisconsin it is April 1, in Missouri and Minnesota it is March 1, in Louisiana and Oklahoma it is a year from purchase and on and on. The reverence and righteousness on this channel is truly admirable.
I can't believe this video was even made. Charges against a fishing "professional". What a joke. One would think that all professional anglers would be beyond reproach. Just shows you how far this sport has fallen. What are we teaching our kids? They see things like this. The just win mentality has destroyed pro fishing.
What if it was a mistake, went to fill out the form and when asked if he had a fishing license then realized he did not have one, so he purchased one so he could answer yes on form. at this point there is nothing else to do, his fish is already swimming in aquariums one of the most photographed fish in captivity today, I would give the guy a benefit of the doubt he does not need the 5 k that he would have won, if they make a big stink about it, I would request my fish back and release it in the wild. No matter how I feel about Ben (sometime hard to watch him). He is a great FFS and that is his depth but until they remove this totally from competition he will be successful like it or not.
Had a new member in our club long time ago who we thought was cheating . He was way too lucky. Turned out he had pre-fished the waters for 2 to 3 days prior to the tournament day. He would fish full days and once he catch a bag limit, he take them to certain spot in the lake, did this many times and made his own "honey hole". What was odd was a first place spot in our tournaments didn't pay all that much.
You asked for my opinion so here it is. You make statements that are just your opinion and try to pass them off as facts. You don't know that he was aware that his license had expired. He may have caught the fish, then discovered his license was expired. You make this statement about what the form says. I don't believe that it says "including having a valid fishing license". I think you are just making that up. You're right that it speaks to integrity and you are showing that you don't have any. Unbiassed my ass. What do I think will happen to him? I think he broke a law and he will get punished for it with whatever penalty Texas has for fishing without a license.
Milliken is not a good person. The guy used to make youtube videos to make fun of people. There were questions about his fish being dead culling dead fish in an elite tournament he got away with he was fishing without a license, and he knew he was volitieing the rules these are just some examples of what we no of its what we don't no that bothers me how many times did he get away with stuff like this before
What a POS. The sad part is hes still in the elites and in their advisory board. Imagine the pros have aguy thats been arrested for tourney fraud. How tf he hasnt been thrown out yet is beyond i guess it speaks volume of the industry
Any normal well run tournament series would suspend him or fine him. With morons running the Elite series now they will probably make him bassmaster pope.
The first time I saw Ben’s channel I thought to myself this is what fishing U Tube channels have turned into?? I turned it off and said it wasn’t for me and now I know why!!
I do not agree with many of Randy's opinions. However, this is spot on. The intent is obvious, and his attitude afterwards exposes significant character flaws.
Hey Randy this is how this will go down.Texas will use this fish for share a lunker but Ben will not get the 5g shopping spree and the replica fish mount. He will probably only get fined for not having a license at the time the fish was caught and if it didn't happen during a bass master tournament BASS may not do anything.
So he lied , tried to climb the prize . After he caught her . What comes around goes around . Dishonesty will get you nowhere . Blatant dishonesty at that .
Did you have dad or mom that taught you that cheating is the right thing to do? Likely, Sad.. The law is the law. You mad cause he got caught bro? You should be scrutinized well if you ever try to fish professionally. Which I doubt as you seem to support what most of us are firmly against.
@@richierocket246 Too bad Mr. Influencer Milliken is so popular among the kids out there. He sets a very bad example of what it is to be a sportsman. I don't think he had a father to teach him that.
There have been people who have committed murder for the insurance checks, some have faked an injury for fraud. Others have promised work, gotten paid, and not done the work. Many many things have been done for or because of, the love of money and this is just one more example of that very thing. Regardless if it was an accident to "go" fishing without a license, it was NOT an accident to record the fish for the protentional of a payout. This was done with intent, period end of story. Greed will get ya, every time.
If he won any bassmaster tournaments around the time of him not having a license in Texas, should automatically disqualify him for any tournament he won during that time because when you are a professional fisherman, that title of professional attached to your name separates you from the average weekend Worrior.
I think this may be the first time that I’ve ever agreed with something you’ve said. I can almost understand somebody forgetting to buy a license. However, in this case he should have thrown the first back as soon as he noticed that he wasn’t licensed.
I thought that the Share a Lunker program was a voluntary program, where the angler could catch a large bass over 13 lbs and donates it to the state for breeding stock , and in return will receive a replica mount and other prizes. But it’s not a traditional tournament as such. Most he would be guilty of is no license.
In the end he did give the Share a Lunker program the Bass which is the most important part for Texas fisheries. There's a hate train and it's pretty obvious when trying to imply this is regular tournament fraud and not something a bit different.
Spotlighting is a hunting term and is illegal. Using the latest electronics is not spotlighting, and is totally LEGAL. Being banned from use by a couple tournament organizations does not make it spotlighting or illegal to use in virtually every other situation.
@ lol Is that the best you can do? Lmao. You’re as pathetic as Randy. It’s impressive that a mentally challenged Blauket worshipper was able to spot a typo. lol BTW…. I’d bet my level of education far surpasses yours!!! lol
TX Licenses all expire on last day in August. The day before opening day of dove season every year, which is always Sep.1. I'm guessing the lunker was caught in Winter/spring. If so would mean 6 months or more TX fishing with no license. Any fishing from Sep. 1 to the date the fish was caught, was illegal fishing.
I think a ticket just like everyone else gets is what should’ve happened unless you’re saying the fines for fishing without a license is not strict enough.
@brandongarner7252 i think the bigger problem is that he fished without a license for some time and then he registered a fish to win a "prize" without a valid license and registered it. It's basically knowingly cheating in a tournament to win a cash prize.
@@jheiny1231 Make him pay the cash prize back to make it right and call it a day. I’m sure there’s more cheating than what he did going on and real poachers law enforcement should actually focus on. @brandongarner7252 i get what your saying. But in the law enforcement eyes it's the same thing as putting weights inside your fish to make them weigh more like the walleye fisherman did. Goes back to the old saying... right is right. Wrong is wrong. And that's how laws are looked at
There is no excuse for not having a license. However, I really wish there was a national fishing license for tournament anglers, people who travel often, seniors, and the disabled.
the question is did he not buy before, trying to save the cost of the license and after catching a qualified fish purchased the license on line ,let’s look at his search engine back an see if he tried earlier but did not get a confirmation .

He was attacked with anything they could come up with to destroy. If anyone was put under a microscope they can come up with something and if laws or times are moved to prosecute someone this is a breakdown of the system. This didn't happen with this case but what would it be like with average Joe out fishing and was caught because license was possibly out by a day and you always have a licenses every year.
What a dumass. When he realized he didn’t have a liscence, why in the world didn’t he just release the fish? Would be curious to know when he realized he didnt have a liscence.
Coming from a guy telling stories about digging ditches to get into backwaters. Messing with a watershed will get you into a lot bigger trouble than having your licenses expired. Maybe we need to go back and check into this......
Sounds to me like he caught the big fish and went to register it in the share lunker program and when he did, he realized his license had expired. This was not a tournament. Come to think of it, my Massachusetts license expired the first of year. Thanks for reminding me.
I see them definitely trying to throw the book at him, and they would have every right to do so. This will not go away just because he is a video game fishing youtuber.
Id look when the last time he had a license was. If it just expired a week or two before i could understand forgetting to renew. If it was a few months or a year before its obviously intentional.
Randy he already said that he did not realize his license had expired and that once he realized that he went and purchased another one but he had already turned in the bass! It is a simple mistake we have all made. We all have multiple licenses from various states! Texas is good 1 year from date of purchase! Alabama it is August to August. It's a simple costly mistake!
Someone below pointed out that if he did have a license that only recently expired he would have a pretty good argument for a simple mistake. If he never had a license, or it expired long prior to this, he has some explaining to do.
@ordinaryangler4153 He bought the license after he caught the fish and turned it in knowing that he was breaking the rules and the law! If you really think it was a simple mistake, then your morals are as bad as Ben's.
It’s mind boggling that some of these guys in the comments can’t comprehend this scenario, it’s not just fishing with out a license. It would be one thing if he chose to just buy a license and never submitted form for the share the lunker non of this would happened. He knowingly filled out a false form and submitted it , so he could get a free mount and get the clout for another share the lunker catch
I wonder if Ben is disqualified from the prize for owning 6th? Now love him or hate him everyone needs to look in the mirror and ask themselves have I done anything stupid? Now as for him getting an attorney, that is his right. His biggest mistake was talking to the police. For those that don't know the police can lie to you at any time. You have the right to remain silent, have an attorney present and not have any searches without a warrant. We all have those rights. This has turned into the biggest who gives a crap case. How many people going home from the tournament have gone over the speed limit in a 8000 pound truck and 2000 boat? Get into a crash speeding or tired and kill someone and see what happens. Ben was just stupid and spoke with the warden thinking like everyone that they can talk their way out of it. If they're calling, you better get a lawyer because they know the answers and you will never win.
The thing that bothers me about the Milliken situation isn't the fact that he was fishing without a license, its that he jokes about what happened as if he's above everything. Im surprised his head fits through his front door bc his ego is gigantic ever since he fished the elites. Dude is arrogant as hell.

If he thought he out smarter the law why would he tell on his self. Sounds to me like a grown up made a mistake and then owned up to it!

The more details that have came out on this , he committed fraud , no doubt about it now .

The shopping spree that he “entered” is all the baits he dropped off from HIS house because he had too much gear.
We all know before we throw that line if our license is valid or not. Ben has done so much bad for the sport, it’s a shame. He’s the future of Bass fishing and that’s scary.
Sounds like a felony not a simple licensing issue. He tried to win money fraudulently.
I don’t think Randy gave a crap about a drawing for the chance to win a 5k shopping spree. This was about the vanity of having the fish registered and his you tube audience.
Over a license doubtful....
Just like Trump

The folks that defend Ben Milliken say that he’s being singled out unfairly and being made an example of.
The only person who has singled out Ben Milliken is Ben himself.
When you create a persona that demands attention, you’d better be ready for attention of all kinds and you’d better make sure your behavior is beyond reproach.
There are plenty of UA-cam fishermen that make their fishing skills the focus of their channel, but there are some that feel the need to create a character, and then whine when people judge that character’s behavior.
Ben is now the latter, and he’s shown that while he may BE a character, he doesn’t have any character.
thats his problem, he talks the talk and cant walk the walk
You are 100% correct.
I probably wouldn't care much if the guy wasn't so smug. Now I'm entertained
I've watched a few of his videos over the years, seemed to be a bit of a pompous douche. Wasn't convinced he was genuine about anything he did...

This is a very good point
Texas F&W sends me multiple emails and texts reminding me to renew my license prior to and after it expires, and I live in Arkansas. If he’s saying “I forgot”, that isn’t an excuse.
Thanks 03rodie!
Did he fish bassmaster tournaments without a liscense?
Maybe Ben had a bad "hangover"....
I have no problem with him catching that fish without a valid license, I believe that was a mistake. To get his license after the fact to win a tournament is not good. If these time lines are good that makes him a POS thief.

@@justinquiring7609 as far as fishing goes, NO! Lifetime fishing permit.
Oh wow Randy is also a lawyer. I should have known.
I can't believe this video was even made. Charges against a fishing "professional". What a joke. One would think that all professional anglers would be beyond reproach. Just shows you how far this sport has fallen. What are we teaching our kids? They see things like this. The just win mentality has destroyed pro fishing.
Ain't that the TRUTH !!!
Unbiased!!! Come on Randy, you know you are loving this just as much as I am.
Nothing to see here. Agree that he clearly knowingly tried to skirt the rules, but he’ll get a slap on the wrist per typical.
Milliken is not a good person. The guy used to make youtube videos to make fun of people. There were questions about his fish being dead culling dead fish in an elite tournament he got away with he was fishing without a license, and he knew he was volitieing the rules these are just some examples of what we no of its what we don't no that bothers me how many times did he get away with stuff like this before
He's given no grace in this comment section. I guess we are all perfect anglers. 😁
A livescoper's selfish mentality...
The shopping spree was gear he dropped off from HIS house because HE had too much gear. There’s literally proof of him dropping all the gear off🤦♂️
That Milliken is the Devil!🙄
How dare he even fish at all!😂
Did you have dad or mom that taught you that cheating is the right thing to do? Likely, Sad.. The law is the law. You mad cause he got caught bro? You should be scrutinized well if you ever try to fish professionally. Which I doubt as you seem to support what most of us are firmly against.
@@richierocket246 Too bad Mr. Influencer Milliken is so popular among the kids out there. He sets a very bad example of what it is to be a sportsman. I don't think he had a father to teach him that.
There WILL NOT be a conviction, there was a freakin misunderstanding
😂
And yet BassMaster has him as one of the anglers reps. Ridiculous!
Not surprising. The Elite Series is a joke.
The tournament director is not doing his Job if someone is fish a tournament at that level doesn't have a license
well that didnt happen...
I think this may be the first time that I’ve ever agreed with something you’ve said. I can almost understand somebody forgetting to buy a license. However, in this case he should have thrown the first back as soon as he noticed that he wasn’t licensed.
There's a lot more to entering a fish in the share lunker program than winning money.
I was set to order waterland prescription sunglasses until I realized he was part owner. Glad I seen that before hitting submit.
Good thing Trump didn't do that
Treat him like any other angler caught with same circumstances 1 tier of justice in usa 🇺🇸
You morons keep slamming Ben which just increase his brand recognition. He’s capitalizing on Randy’s obsession with him. Keep it up Randy lol
Hey Genius...
I think you meant to say; "Increases" not Increase !
Is English your 2nd language, or are you just unejimacated ???

@@robertbentlygeorge8973 lol pathetic
First thing I think of anytime I fish, do I have a valid license... he knew.. just needs to own up to it now.
By design and with intent is what it sounds like from the affidavit.
Since you ask, I think we are going to find out how much justice this Milliken can afford. I hope its not enough.
I do and respect what you’re saying though that yes he was still in the wrong more than just fishing without a license.
@brandongarner7252 i get what your saying. But in the law enforcement eyes it's the same thing as putting weights inside your fish to make them weigh more like the walleye fisherman did. Goes back to the old saying... right is right. Wrong is wrong. And that's how laws are looked at
Interesting , now that certain people feel they are above the law…
There is no excuse for not having a license. However, I really wish there was a national fishing license for tournament anglers, people who travel often, seniors, and the disabled.
the question is did he not buy before, trying to save the cost of the license and after catching a qualified fish purchased the license on line ,let’s look at his search engine back an see if he tried earlier but did not get a confirmation .
How many people have muitlple state license and all have different renewal dates and mistakingly realize license is out when you find out and you renewing admittedly. He didn't do this on purpose i personally don't like the guy but equal justice. We see this mess all the time with names out there they to put them through the ringer look at what just happened during elections and wasn't even in no way like this.
Nobody should be required to pay for a fishing license! Just more government control!
You one of Ben's disciples? He thinks and says the exact same thing. Let us know how that works out for you....poacher.
Not surprising that he would be a live scope guy. These guys are not sportsmen.
Sounds to me like he caught the big fish and went to register it in the share lunker program and when he did, he realized his license had expired. This was not a tournament. Come to think of it, my Massachusetts license expired the first of year. Thanks for reminding me.
Randy couldn't run to his camera fast enough..🤣
Ct already covered it
@@winstonrocco1981 CT?
Texas has year to date licenses and March to March licenses
Someone below pointed out that if he did have a license that only recently expired he would have a pretty good argument for a simple mistake. If he never had a license, or it expired long prior to this, he has some explaining to do.
It's his job to keep up with simple licensing issues. Rules are rules, no matter how much you like or don't like a person.
@ordinaryangler4153 He bought the license after he caught the fish and turned it in knowing that he was breaking the rules and the law! If you really think it was a simple mistake, then your morals are as bad as Ben's.
Ignorance isn’t a defense
It’s mind boggling that some of these guys in the comments can’t comprehend this scenario, it’s not just fishing with out a license. It would be one thing if he chose to just buy a license and never submitted form for the share the lunker non of this would happened. He knowingly filled out a false form and submitted it , so he could get a free mount and get the clout for another share the lunker catch
Guilty the thing is in Texas your license is due at the end of August so he fished for over six months with no license
Who the ever decided you should have to have a license to fish In the first place. Pay the government for our god given right to fish. What a joke
