Thank you😇 I made a C# natural flute using pipe of diameter of 22mm and just as you said, its taar saptak re ga ma are not playing. Can you explain role of 7th hole below 6 finger holes? Sometimes its possition is not even accessible for playing
First of all welcome to our channel 👍😊 Thank you for appreciation. If taar saptak is not being played clearly there are two problems 1. Lip plate is missing 2. Pipe diameter is too high that air is passing and not being played in taar saptak. The seventh hole serves many roles. It acts as tuning hole. 'pa' note is adjusted by seventh hole diameter. Another role is to play tivra Ma note below Pa note. And smooth transition from Ma to Pa. As normal Ma to Pa is not smooth. For Ma you need to open all holes and for Pa you need to close all holes so this transition is not smooth but for some Ragas this transition should be smooth so in those ragas this hole is important. 😊
I am a beginner first i baught a local road seller flute now I made one for myself with pvc i have put cork at 11mm and the flute is full tuned but i am unable to good sound out when all holes are closed for "pa" is this normal or any defect in my flute?
Nice to hear that you have successfully made your own flute. Now if you want to see if your flute makes sound at 'pa' note then you can use following tips: Use removable duct tape or cello tape to cover all holes and then try to play pa note. Because closing all holes with finger is difficult task for beginners. Duct tape will help to do that. If still your flute is not making any sound, Try to improve blowing technique. If it doesn't work try to reduce blowing hole size.

Thank you for taking time to comment on our video.🙏 First of all, you are right there is range of diamaters for each scale flute so, many diameters can be used to make same scale. There is mathematical calculation for that which is very complex. So most of the flute makers do some calculations and some approximations . I am going to make video on how to calculate diameter and distances of each hole. One simple method you can follow is I have given measurements for all the scales in my one video. Check that video and using that video you can use trial and error method to adjust flute to your custom dimensions.Kindly check that video 😊😊👍
Uske liye tuning cork ya stopper hota hai Jo flute ke andar hota hai. Usko andar bahar karke aap upper octave ko adjust kar sakte hai. Lekin thoda hi adjust hoga bohot jyada difference hai to wo adjust nahi hoga.
Lipplate lagane se kya fida hay ? Flute ka aavaz mea kya fark pdtha hay ? Brass or bell metal se iss mesherment flute bana saktha hay. Mera pass 6 hole ka ek brass flute hay, kam se kam 200 saal purana hay, undinome Bant set ka saath isthamal karthe dhe suna hai.
Lip plate se hava aachese andar jati hai aur flute high pitch me cracking sound nahi deti. Agar flute ki pipe moti hai to lip plate lagane ki jarurat nahi hai. Patali pipe ke liye jaruri hai. Ha aap brass se bhi flute bana sakte ho isi measurement se bas thickness and diamater same chahiye. 200 sal purani flute! Bohot badhiya kya aap photo share kar sakte hai?
Flute scale ka aisa hota hai. C se leke B tak hota hai. C,D,E,F,GA,B aur aise do set hote hai base aur medium. C base ki flute sabse badi aur heavy sound. Aur B medium sabse choti aur patli sound. To aap B base aur C medium compare karoge (Jo ki almost same length ki hogi) to B flute jyada base hogi aur C scale patli hogi. Aur aap B medium aur C medium compare karoge to B medium bohot hi choti aur patli sound ki hogi.

Yes aap kar sakte hai... Sa ka hole hai (4th from blowing hole) use thoda bada karte jao aur tuning app se match karke dekho.. half note badh jayegi... Tuning ke liye ek video banayi hai maine aap dekh sakte hai .

I am going to made c scale but it sound in c# but the pa is sound tivra ma what to do please suggest me I had made from blowing hole to tunning hole , (blowing hole10) ,10,10,10,8,12,10 and tunning hole7)what to do six hole is of 10 as mentioned is it had to be more dip or how I tune?
So your 7th hole should be bigger so it will go to higher note and it will play pa instead of tivr m. And about c#, your 4th hole from blowing hole has become big, it should be small then flute will play C after closing first three holes instead of c#.
No it's not compulsary. But if thickness of flute material is small (less than 1.0 mm) then flute vibrates on higher notes. So if lip plate is used sound will not crack and blowing into flute becomes easy using lip plate.

174.3 mm =17.43 cm. Aapko bas 10 se devide karna hai to mm se cm me covert ho jayega. Aur aap 17.43 cm lete me 17.4 le lijiye, adhe mm se jyada issue nahi ayega.
Just add length of each section you will get length upto cork (stopper). You can keep flute length of cork side as per your need because only upto cork, length matters.
Did you made so many flutes practically for experiment or you just done theorotical calculations like standing waves ,nodes antinode,end correction and all things?

Electric pipe is always best it is light weight and makes natural sound. Cpvc pipe is very thick, heavy so it makes extra clear sound which feels little bit artificial like flute sound on piano keyboard.

Diameter of holes in all flutes are different.. so how can we know which diameter is best??? As per your video Punam flutes Diameter is 1st hole 11cm and your chart says 8.5 cm .. I'm confuse!!!.. Sir what is distance between blowing hole and cork , how can we know which distance is good for flutes .. sir I want to make flute production.. help me
Yes diameter can vary. There is range of diamtere for each scale. You have to make flute within that diameter. It is found out by trial and error. Diamteres given in my vidoes are best diamteres in that range so you can refer those diamteres. Bamboo is natural material so exact same diamteter is not possible to get. So that every bamboo flute has slightly different diameter.
Sir yesterday I made this flute. I have maintained all dimensions correctly except the diameter of pipe is 19 mm and thickness is little larger. But, as I play it it's showing F5 scale in tuner app, I played it with all holes open. Also, it's not playing if all holes are closed. Please help me with this.
Nice to hear that you made your own flute. Now, as you are saying it is showing F5 scale which is correct note. could you please tell me which note it is showing after closing three fingers. If your flute is making some sound after opening all holes then your blowing hole is correct but it is not making any sound after closing holes means that you are not closing holes properly or holes are too small.
Good explanation..., I would further like to the cork curved portion and more importantly the Mathematical formula used. Please make a detailed video on HOW CALCULATIONS ARE BEING DONE for hole placement based n different inner diameter of the pipe.

All dimensions are in milimeters. Just divide any dimension by 10 you will get in centimetres. For example if 324 is given in video then it is 324 mm and 32.4 cms.
Yes all dimensions are in mm including length. For example if you take 'c natural medium' flute distance between blowing hole and first hole is given 174.7 mm which is 17.47 cm. If you consider 174.7 is in cm then it will be 1.74 meter which is impossible. So all given dimensions are in mm. If you have error in any particular flute let me know.

जी मैं आपको समझाता हुं. जो नाप दिये है वो सिर्फ उसी भाग के है. मतलब दो होल के बीच का अंतर दिया हैं. ऊन सब नापो को मिलाने के बाद पुरी लंबाई मिलेगी फ्लुट की. सभी नाप mm मे है, cm मे नहि है. जो अंतर है वो हर दो होल्स के बीच का है. एक end से नहीं है सारे अंतर. आशा है की आपको समझ आया होगा. फिर भी कोई शंका है तो पूछ सकते हैं आप.
Hello, sir! I have tried to make an E base bansuri three times now, and it's never in tune. I use a pvc pipe. Its diameter is 2.8 cm, and its wall thickness is 3mm. The whole length of the pipe that I use is 77 cm. I don't know how to tune it. I know that I am doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is!!!! could you please help?
Don't worry.. Let's try to solve your problem. Answer following questions so that I will get some technical data about your flute.. 1) 77 cm is wrong length. It should be nearly 71 cm. Where did you get that data from? Have you followed my this video? ua-cam.com/video/MA3Uqaoy_CE/v-deo.html 2)If you have not followed that video try to use those dimensions. 3) Let's not waste your previously made flutes. Which note is shown by your flute? (Sa note in tunner app) 4) Tell me frequency shown by each hole on flute. (Sa= ? Hz, Re= ? Hz, Ga = ? Hz etc.) I will try to tell you some modifications in your flute based on above data to tune it.

In my latest flute that I made, when I close all the holes it gives Bb with a frequency of 479 Hz. Also, it's so big for my fingers to handle. I think I will make a smaller flute to start with. @@saadelmahi7513 No no you are not wasting my time at all, I feel happy to help you. unfortunately that video maker you followed has given wrong dimensions. Now for beginners 2.8 cm pipe flute is huge. E base flute is used in Indian Classical music, when you become good at flute playing. So I would recommend using C natural Medium (19 inch = 48.26 cm flute) in beginning. Dimension chart for that flute is given in this video also. but problem is it can not be made from 2.8 cm pipe. its big. You will need 1.7-2.0 cm pipe. Can you try electric fitting pipe or any similar plastic pipe? If you get pipe in that range I will prepare custom dimension chart for you and send you over Email. I have big size will it work properly?
Big size will not play higher octave notes (high pitch). Dimensions will be different. You can't directly use same dimensions.

Lip plate se hava aachese andar jati hai aur flute high pitch me cracking sound nahi deti. Agar flute ki pipe moti hai to lip plate lagane ki jarurat nahi hai. Patali pipe ke liye jaruri hai.
Ha aap brass se bhi flute bana sakte ho isi measurement se bas thickness and diamater same chahiye.

Flute scale ka aisa hota hai. C se leke B tak hota hai. C,D,E,F,GA,B aur aise do set hote hai base aur medium. C base ki flute sabse badi aur heavy sound. Aur B medium sabse choti aur patli sound.
To aap B base aur C medium compare karoge (Jo ki almost same length ki hogi) to B flute jyada base hogi aur C scale patli hogi. Aur aap B medium aur C medium compare karoge to B medium bohot hi choti aur patli sound ki hogi.

So your 7th hole should be bigger so it will go to higher note and it will play pa instead of tivr m.
And about c#, your 4th hole from blowing hole has become big, it should be small then flute will play C after closing first three holes instead of c#.

No it's not compulsary. But if thickness of flute material is small (less than 1.0 mm) then flute vibrates on higher notes. So if lip plate is used sound will not crack and blowing into flute becomes easy using lip plate.

Just add length of each section you will get length upto cork (stopper). You can keep flute length of cork side as per your need because only upto cork, length matters.

Electric pipe is always best it is light weight and makes natural sound.
Cpvc pipe is very thick, heavy so it makes extra clear sound which feels little bit artificial like flute sound on piano keyboard.

Diameter of holes in all flutes are different.. so how can we know which diameter is best??? As per your video Punam flutes Diameter is 1st hole 11cm and your chart says 8.5 cm .. I'm confuse!!!..

Yes diameter can vary. There is range of diamtere for each scale. You have to make flute within that diameter. It is found out by trial and error. Diamteres given in my vidoes are best diamteres in that range so you can refer those diamteres. Bamboo is natural material so exact same diamteter is not possible to get. So that every bamboo flute has slightly different diameter.
Sir yesterday I made this flute. I have maintained all dimensions correctly except the diameter of pipe is 19 mm and thickness is little larger. But, as I play it it's showing F5 scale in tuner app, I played it with all holes open. Also, it's not playing if all holes are closed. Please help me with this.

Now, as you are saying it is showing F5 scale which is correct note. could you please tell me which note it is showing after closing three fingers.
If your flute is making some sound after opening all holes then your blowing hole is correct but it is not making any sound after closing holes means that you are not closing holes properly or holes are too small.

Sir I am confusing in millimetre and centimetre
All dimensions are in milimeters. Just divide any dimension by 10 you will get in centimetres. For example if 324 is given in video then it is 324 mm and 32.4 cms.

Is length of flute in cm ?
Yes all dimensions are in mm including length. For example if you take 'c natural medium' flute distance between blowing hole and first hole is given 174.7 mm which is 17.47 cm.
If you consider 174.7 is in cm then it will be 1.74 meter which is impossible. So all given dimensions are in mm.

जी मैं आपको समझाता हुं. जो नाप दिये है वो सिर्फ उसी भाग के है. मतलब दो होल के बीच का अंतर दिया हैं. ऊन सब नापो को मिलाने के बाद पुरी लंबाई मिलेगी फ्लुट की. सभी नाप mm मे है, cm मे नहि है. जो अंतर है वो हर दो होल्स के बीच का है. एक end से नहीं है सारे अंतर.

I have tried to make an E base bansuri three times now, and it's never in tune. I use a pvc pipe. Its diameter is 2.8 cm, and its wall thickness is 3mm. The whole length of the pipe that I use is 77 cm. I don't know how to tune it. I know that I am doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is!!!! could you please help?
Don't worry.. Let's try to solve your problem. Answer following questions so that I will get some technical data about your flute..
1) 77 cm is wrong length. It should be nearly 71 cm. Where did you get that data from? Have you followed my this video? ua-cam.com/video/MA3Uqaoy_CE/v-deo.html
2)If you have not followed that video try to use those dimensions.
3) Let's not waste your previously made flutes. Which note is shown by your flute? (Sa note in tunner app)
4) Tell me frequency shown by each hole on flute. (Sa= ? Hz, Re= ? Hz, Ga = ? Hz etc.)
I will try to tell you some modifications in your flute based on above data to tune it.

I watched the video that you recommended. I got some information although I don't understand nor speak Hindi. In my latest flute that I made, when I close all the holes it gives Bb with a frequency of 479 Hz. Also, it's so big for my fingers to handle. I think I will make a smaller flute to start with. What flute do you recommend, sir? and please bear in mind that the smaller diameter in PVC pipes in my country is 2.8 cm.

@@saadelmahi7513 No no you are not wasting my time at all, I feel happy to help you. unfortunately that video maker you followed has given wrong dimensions. Now for beginners 2.8 cm pipe flute is huge. E base flute is used in Indian Classical music, when you become good at flute playing. So I would recommend using C natural Medium (19 inch = 48.26 cm flute) in beginning. Dimension chart for that flute is given in this video also. but problem is it can not be made from 2.8 cm pipe. its big. You will need 1.7-2.0 cm pipe. Can you try electric fitting pipe or any similar plastic pipe? If you get pipe in that range I will prepare custom dimension chart for you and send you over Email.

Yes, sir, I found a water pipe whose diameter is 2.0 cm, but its wall thickness is 5mm. It's quite thick. I hope that won't affect the flute tuning. I also found a pipe whose diameter is 1.2 cm. Here is my email:
