The s-, p-, and d-block elements of the periodic table are arranged into 18 numbered columns, or groups. The elements in each group have the same number of valence electrons. As a result, elements in the same group often display similar properties and reactivity. View more lessons or practice this subject at www.khanacadem...

how the frick does he write so good with a mouse
He uses a digital pen , obviously no one can write with mouse
he has a wacom tablet
@@c.a.d.contentallday7161 unless you’ve been teaching online and screen-sharing MS paint to explain things visually. Then you’d have enough practice to pull off smooth lines.
@@c.a.d.contentallday7161 wait, if he is using a pen then why hasn't he taken it off from the screen, the mouse moves like he is moving a mouse
@@leoliu4368 that's how digital pens work with certain softwares
I ain’t even English and this is way better than the lessons I got
If groups 8, 9, and 10 have the same amount of valence electrons - namely 8, why are they not grouped as one? What properties differentiates groups (families) 8, 9, and 10 - if valence electrons do not doffer those three families (also called "VIIIB")?
lmao i saw u in like 6 different comment sextions
I believe that by now we have the elements Nihonium (Nh, 113), Moscovium (Mc, 115), Tenessine (Ts, 117), and Oganesson (Og, 118)
What principle is that, and where would I find it, also why would it place the electrons in orbits without filling out the area before going to the next orbital region?
I'm still confused which element has the highest electronegativity in the alkali metals, coz google says its flourine but flourine is a non metal element
Bruh 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Omg
LOL
Cesium
It’s a halogen
isn't 4s2 supposed to be before 3d1 because the 4s orbital has less energy than the 3d orbital and according to Aufbau's principle (like you mentioned) occupies the lowest available energy level orbitals first???
Not helpful in figuring out differences between IA vs IVB vs VIIB groups, and why they are sorted that way.
Yes
what are the similar properties per each group that specifies each corresponding column?
If you watch the video by "Crash Course" on the periodic table then you'll see that he lists out the similar properties of elements in a group.
Isn't post transition metals and transitional metals on periodic table?
Neet exam ke liye sufficient hai kya khan academy se padhna

?
yeah I noticed that. he probably stopped the video and then began recording again later with a different mic.
Or his mood changed or something happened in the air........hahaha...ask the periodic table
I got confused after electron configuration was mentioned
Reply idiot subscribe or not 🙄😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
I just want to ask what group is mollusc shell belong? Like in a highest percantage what specific group
Is mollusc shell an element or or an animal?😉😎
So, which family are the least reactive among the groups in the periodic table?
Noble Gases
I have a question.....what is the meaning of group name?!!
Obviously it is not a group number or anything,it's just group name
This is a guess but group 1 and 2 form basic oxides and hydroxides so they are called alkali and alkaline earth.
Absolutely random theory
lovely
So helium has 18 valence electrons?
@@USSACADEMY wouldnt it have 2 valence electrons
A valence electron is an electron on the outermost shell of an atom. So No, Helium wouldn't have 18 Valence Electrons.
why is helium in group 18 but its valence electron is only 2 ??
its first shell is complete (first shell can only have 2 electrons) and it doesnt have any other shells
Helium, having one shell and that being it's outermost shell, has 2 shells. Atoms need 2,8,18 electrons consecutively for every shell to be stable. As it has the needed 2 electrons for shell K, it has no room for donating or receiving electrons, making it incapable of reaction. This incapability for forming bonds makes an element inert.
What is electron configuration
Distribution of electrons in shells and subshells
@@aimy5953 according to the increasing energy
If you don't understand this video then you don't know the basics of electronic configuration using the 1s2 notation
Do you know why he wrote 3d1 before 4s2? It's supposed to be the other way around cuz the 4s sublevel has less energy than the 3d sublevel.

Isnt there 8 groups?
*18
@@loficafe666 my teacher thought me 8 and I've never understand it
Either 8 or 18 both are correct. If u number the transition metals its 18 if u dont its 8. Try it : )

Hi
Scandium has the same electronic configuration as Argon....How do we know that? Because they have the same number of valence electrons? then logically speaking Y should have the same electronic configuration as KR right? Am I understanding this correctly?
Here is the link to a video that explains it a lot easier.-> watch?v=iFN9agJVea4

sorry if this is a dumb question but what is electron figuration?😂
wait . u meant electronic configuration right?
Lol it is distribution of electrons in orbitals
this made negative sense
why is your voice so deep lol
Broo.. I don't understand a thing
I recommend bullet pointing all the things you didn't understand and acquiring a basic sense of the concept before coming back to the video.

TINKY WINKY TELETUBBIES
this was poorly explained not ganna lie. you just gloss over the aufbau principle without explaining what it is first
What language is this man speaking?? What is the outhbaou principle😭😭😭
Aufbau Principle states that electrons will always occupy the lowest available energy orbits before filling higher energy orbits.
Maybe it's just me but that was so poorly explained
this is not helpful
Made a intresting topic boring.
How is Na the same electron configuration as Ne?
Its not. Na has 1 electron more than Ne.
E.C. of Na = [Ne] 3s1
Nanee!
@@harsh_adukia Can you explain why he put (Ne) after sodium during electronic configuration?
