Do I have to be a nurse first then get my certificate for picc line or can I go straight to getting a PICC line certificate with no nursing experience?

I was taught years ago and have done since, that labs are drawn from red port, but other port could be used. My purpose for looking for this education was to see if there are instances to NOT stop an infusion. I will be drawing labs on home care patient who has Blincyto infusing. I know not to flush line if it's only one port. I am to draw back so as not to give patient a bolus, but if he has 2 ports, do i stop med before drawing labs. I'd say yes and hold off 2 minutes like taught in this video, but my education nurse said don't turn Blincyto off. Also her helped threw tubing aside without commenting on covering the end with a end cap on IV line. (so many nurses i see NOT doing this). Don't be bashful with your port alcohol swabbing! Too many "I might" - be sure, especially in education video. Appreciate the pulsing flush especially on CVC lines. Saves complications of line clots or slow flows and difficult future blood draws.
