Clueless movie commentary
Part three in our little 90's teen movie trilogy and it's time to watch Clueless! This movie commentary and reaction is one we've been wanting to do for a little while because even though it has some problems, it's still such a great film! Hope you enjoy this one and subscribe for more movie commentary and reaction videos!
80s tees is a cool online store where Sam and I buy some of our t-shirts that have official designs for movies, tv shows and music. The designs are sick and the shirts are great quality, plus you get free shipping anywhere in the world for orders over $50 usd. Would highly recommend 😁

Cher and Josh were step siblings for about a year when she was 10 and he was 12 or 13. Her dad just took him under his wing.
I rlly appreciate the fact that your commentaries on movies with a female lead never come across misogynistic like a lot of other commentators 🥰💜
dion's boyfriend is the same guy who sings in the acapella group of old guys in pitch perfect
Clueless is a modern take take on Jane Austen's book "Emma". Seriously. People write papers on this and compare the two.
Cher was never really that snobbish. She was selfish but always decent. She became more self aware by the end of the movie.
a lot of the teen slang in the movie was actually made up by the writers. This movie is the reason why people began to say things like "as if"
The movie is based on the classic novel Emma by Jane Austen. In that the main character ends up with her sister's husband's brother who has known her since she was a baby and is 16 years older than her (shes 21 and he's 37).
REST IN PEACE to the beautiful Brittany Murphy ! She was in a lot of these classics and I remember this being her first breakthrough. I actually liked her a lot in clueless.
Paul Rudd was actually mugged during the filming of clueless and was even shot at but luckily it went through his hair so he wasn’t harmed
i like that a lot of this movie is just cher learning to be a better person. definitely my favorite 90s movie
Cher (like Emma in the novel) is basically super sheltered and naive. Here it's mostly because she's a privileged teen, as in the novel, but you can add a very protective father in the book as well. In the 2007 (maybe 2008?) mini series they leaned into it very hard, but it's there in the text as well, that Emma's father basically kept his daughters near him out of fear that they'd die or get ill. Which keeps Emma very ignorant of what's actually going on.
Lol! We didn’t say “groovy” in CA in the ‘90s. Cher says it to use terminology from her mom’s time, because her mom died when Cher was a baby (probably in the late ‘70s).
Helicopters are ALWAYS flying overhead in LA! Especially if you're in a sketchy area.
the scene with lucy is just extra funny to me because for some reason mexicans and salvadorans have, like, actual beef (i seriously don’t know why, but i’m mexican on my mom’s side and salvi on my dad’s and my families stay making jokes about it) so part of me feels like not only was lucy offended to be called by the wrong nationality, but to be called a mexican of all things 😭
Pretty sure the party Cher and Christian go to was supposed to be Josh's friends. That's why it's not weird that he goes to it.
“How is she not getting it. How is she oblivious”....I mean the title is called Clueless.
its a culture thing. police helocopters are always flying over L.A. so much so they call them ghetto pigeons, so its there for authenticity
Literally she never puts her friend down, she explained vocabulary to her with no judgment... think about that
This is LA. There’s literally ALWAYS a helicopter. It was very incredibly true to form having that helicopter in the background.
