So happy for you and Gary looks so pleased and you're right.Our yard flooded here in Southern Oregon a few weeks ago, but I put down wood chips in the garden area and nothing floated away. Wood chips are the best and very few weeds. Sooo glad you're safe.

Making a clearing in the garden is an excellent idea because as we get older tripping & fall risk increases !
Being that we all want to keep gardening as long as possible… falling in the garden due to clutter…. as a consequence we don’t heal as quickly as in former years.

This is the only way they would know. We found your channel years ago. Because we were looking for a hummingbird recipe. We are still waiting to see what damage the first ever February tornado caused in WI. Heard roofs were off, trees and power lines snapped. It wasn’t too far away and many didn’t think it would happen. The ride home at rush hour I’m sure was interesting for some folks.
Love what wood chips have done for my garden! We have Worms!! It’s taken several years and we never had any worms before as it’s sandy and dry. Every year I find more and do a happy dance. Past owners were not very kind to the soil, but slowly I’m cleaning it up and getting topsoil created. We have been blessed by several arborists that bring us loads of chips. I think I need an end loader. I need to get it distributed faster. Leaving some piles to break down as it looks better than most potting soils.
I hope the tornado didn't cause too much damage. That's the great thing about wood chips, it's a natural way to build soil. Works with clay or sand. Thanks for your comment, Gary.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy thank you. There were about 26 houses/farms hit and half uninhabitable. Two tornadoes-EF1 and a strong EF2. I think the latter was closer to a 3 as there was cars flipped and heavy machinery flipped. No one seriously hurt surprisingly and thankfully..

I love my free wood chips! I have heavy clay soil, added wood chips and as it breaks down it improves the clay below. Getting ready to spread some more. It kept the weeds down also.

I love Gary's wood chip garden, it is so robust. Some five years back I had started using wood chips on my back yard garden and it is so wonderful not to use commercial fertilizer any more. I have build up my soil where it looks like raised bed garden. Yes I agree with you Robbie your own grown food is very tasty.

How about the chickens?
The chickens did well. I cleaned up the coop and moved their poop into my garden. It's dry now. Had to dig a bigger trench to stop water flowing in just incase we have another rain event like this one. Thanks.

My plants love the hydrogen peroxide in the rain.
