Magic leaves traces. I think Dumbledore could have found it but he always chose to see better in the people and didn't believe it's existence. Or simply didn't look for it like Room of Requirement. Harry says in The Deathly Hallows that he atlast knows a secret that Dumbledore didn't know. Only he and Voldemort knew. Model pupil like Dumbledore and Flitwick never strayed to that part of the castle. Just like it he didn't look for it or else he would have found it. There's even possibility that he found it but chose to stay quiet so as to not aid the Slytherin's hier if he couldn't find it or knew of it.
Or voldemort could have asked any snake : hey you seen any giant snake nearby.
Or conjure snakes out of thin air and ask them to scourge the castle for hidden passage with snake signs. Or Salazar told a snake his secret and asked it to pass it on to it's generations and tell it to someone who they see can talk to snakes
While reading the book I couldn't fathom how he could discover it but then I placed myself in his shoes and there I think of many ways I can do it. It's also probable Salazar passed the secret down his family but noone took it seriously/ weren't cruel enough. Or he got it off from the Gaunt family. Maybe there was Salazar's dairy. That could explain how he got idea for his diary.

@@jeffreyluna7689 he did, he always had lust for power, after Ariana's death he simply decided not to pursue it. He explained it to Harry when he told him why he rejected being Minister of Magic.
But I don't think Dumbledore withheld information out of his desire to be considered "the greatest", I think he simply knew telling people who see you as a symbol of hope that it's all lost was counter- productive, so he somehow wanted to protect them from this truth. But yeah, many times it seemed that he thought he'd do everything best and decided not to include anyone in his plans or not to share information with Harry. And even after what happened with Sirius when it seemed he understood he'd made a mistake, he didn't change his ways too much.
I was lying in bed last night and thinking why wasn't Dumbledore at the battle of Hogwarts. Then I realised he was killed lol.

Dumbeldore is one of the most clever people I have ever seen. Like how he planned all of that stuff with Severus Snape. When Severus Snape died, I never even thought he would give Harry his memories until Harry saw what was the truth.
Dumbledore knew Voldy had Horcruxes even before the true memory. His surprise was exact number of them.

The love protection wouldn't of happened and thus Voldy would won. Dumbledore said he cannot beat Voldy so even if managed to get a 1 v 1 he would lose.

So in theory if voldy went after neville, he would be his equal. Yes he went after the potters due to them not being pure blood but if he went after

Now that you mention it, Wormtail is indirectly responsible for Voldemort’s initial defeat, allowing the Order of the Phoenix to win the First Wizarding War.
In fact, since I am an essentially very untrusting person, I would probably have wondered if my defeat was the plan all along, if I were Voldemort, after what happened in attacking the Potters. “Hey, I was double-crossed!” And I would never trust Wormtail again!

Wormtail just wanted to save his own skin. I truly don't think Voldemort, upon reflection, came to the conclusion that he was a threat.

I suspect that young Tom Riddle, after entering Hogwarts, researched his mother's family line -- the Gaunts. There he learned about the Gaunts obsession with blood status in the wizarding world. He questioned why his mother would choose to marry a muggle instead of a pureblood or half-blood wizard. He would learn that the reason would lie with his uncle, a staunch follower of Gellert Grindelwald and his vision for the equality (but actually superiority) of magical folk in the entire world. This rigid ideology, and proclivity towards violence, drove young Tom's mother into the arms of the very race, her family despised. Her death, and his muggle father's abandonment of her (his real fate unknown), left Tom an orphan. He grew up angry and bitter, lashing out at anyone he showed him kindness or affection in him in any way. So when he became old enough, he sought out his uncle and move into the Gaunt estate (he had his mother's locket to prove his lineage).

Because Dumbledore is actually a coward. Harry starts to see these flaws by book 5 (when he ignores Harry and later when Sirius dies), and has some serious issues with him in books 6 (when he visits the Dursleys and basically chastises them) & 7 after his death.

See Jorge Carbajal’s comment below. He spoke about Wormtail bringing about the defeat of Voldemort at the end of the first wizarding war. Wormtail was the one that told Voldemort where to find the Potters which ended with the curse rebounding on Voldemort. I agree with Jorge. I would have thought Wormtail double-crossed me and would have never trusted him again. Why did Voldemort still trust Wormtail?

Any one who finds this interesting will want to watch the Great Wizarding War series by Broad Stokes. Snape and the Marauders was actually a prequel to it.
It us now in its tenth chapter. While it isn't cannon it strives to be capatable with it.
Snape and the Nauraders- James and his friend are drinking enough to impair their judgment on graduation night. They totally underestimate Snape's abilities and he, even though he has also been drinking, beats all four of them. He is about to kill James when Lily Evans stops the fight. While this is an actual movie the following chapters are radio plays.
Chapter 1 Wounds and Wear
Begins right after Snape and the Mauraders. Lily, James and Sirius are outside St. Mungo's Remus is bleeding barley Lily gets then inside.
Chapter 2 The Chess Master.
Begins with Arthur Weasley playing chess with a character not in the books or film. This character is a secret Death Eater.
Chapter 3 Expectation
Remus recovers. Death Eater raid to get a special plant. Remus released and goes to Sirius's flat. A full moon comes up.
Chapter 4 The End if Innocence
Remus changes to a werewolf. Sirius as a big black dog Animagus protects people and drives Remus to the wilderness.
Chapter 5 Crossing Paths
Remus is warmly welcomed by a werewolf community. Lily, an apprentice healer treats an injured Death Eater but calls for an Auror to arrest him. The Death Eater escapes killing a healer and two others

Either the Potters or the Longbottoms, one of those two would be chosen by the Dark Lord. In my opinion, fate decided that the mother of whichever family Voldemort choose would die because there would be no way for the child to survive without his mother's loving sacrifice. There was, at least in theory, the possibility that the father could have survived but realistically that was not going to happen.
which is kind of stupid, and I think JK just gave up just like she mash anything and everything in books 5-7..because in book 5 moody even says "this isn't like last time, this time we are much smarter, stronger, so we won't fail". You should make a video about why Wormtail was listening in on everything at Snape's house..I think JK was going to build on it, but clearly it went nowhere.

You seem to have a great understanding of The Harry Potter books vs the movies, but you keep not mentioning one fact hint & told in the Deadly Hallows. Lilly Potter had a touch of Seer sight. She saw glimpses of her future thru out school, but more so once James & her began their relationship, and later she knew of her pregnancy. By dream vision, and a fast rile of that told her of Snape, James, herself, and the son (Harry). She died with the accepted knowledge of her son's survival.

Sometimes I get confused on how many wizards and death eaters there are
I have a theory about the elder wand that maybe you could look into and confirm or deny it.
My theory is that Dumbledore then Draco then Harry were only the second and third and forth owners of the elder wand.
Yes other have had and used it but it never chose them as its owner. Because the very first owner was never beaten, he was killed in his sleep not beaten in a duel. Not until Dumbledore beat Grindlewald and then Draco beat Dumbledore and then Harry beat Draco.
Now on Pottermore their is an article on the elder wand that says it can also take the emotion. So the emotions that Dumbledore had against Grindle could have been the key factor to winning and gain the elder wand. Also When Draco disarmed Dumbledore he was full of unbridled emotion, terror of Volde and knowing that if he failed meant the death of him, fear and sadness of having to kill one of the people that never showed him any hatred for who and what his family was, that only showed him acceptence, so that would have also drawn the elder wand to him. Then when Harry fought Draco the deep hatred for draco being part of Dumbledore getting killed and his sadness and anger at losing another person he seen as a father figure to him, all would have won the elder wand over to him.

I wonder if Dumbledore sacrificed Lily and James to take down Voldemort. I think the timeline would have went something like this:
1. Dumbledore found out Snape, a known Death Eater had overheard the prophecy and just let him go.
2. Snape comes to warn Dumbledore Voldemort is after the Potters, confirming his suspicion that he would target the half blood like he is.
3. Wormtail volunteers to be secret keeper, when Sirius was already chosen thus outing himself to Dumbledore he was the spy. Dumbledore was upset, but too calm and collected when he was awaiting Hagrid to bring Harry to Privet Drive, like he was unsurprised by what happened. He knew of the ancient magic that shielded Harry, and was sure Lily and James would sacrifice themselves in attempt to save Harry, thus invoking the charm that Voldemort would underestimate and causing his downfall
