Was the castle not finished or just in disrepair?
Both sort of. When the wife died before completion all work was stopped so the top floors were never finished. On top of that while it sat vandalism of course stepped up and caused some of the damage.

Great video! In 1900 Boldt Castle, if completed, would have cost around $2.5 Million Dollars (not counting furnishings). Today it would cost in excess of $65 Million ! It's a shame that Louise Boldt died of consumption and the castle was not completed. But Kudos to the bridge authority for the $1 purchase with all tour funds to go into restoration which is producing amazing results.
Yes, the story around Boldt Castle is a sad one for sure. But as you said, it's a great thing that it's being preserved and being put back together after so many years of being picked over by who ever wanted to do the picking. Hey, thanks for watching and taking time to chime in.
