I've been alive for 57 years, seen over 1000 concerts - every major act of the past 4 decades, and hundreds of incredibly talented minor ones. 20+ Grateful Dead shows. Talking Heads in '79 at CBGB. I'm talking really good, even important shows. This is, by far, the most beautiful, awe-inspiring, soul-stirring, mind-blowing piece of music that I have ever been privileged to witness. To this day, I cannot hear it - and I've listened to it 100 times - without weeping, as I did when I was there. The Caspian, from the 28 minute mark to the end, is MAJESTIC. It soars to the heavens, and took us all there too. It was the musical high point of my life. Phish is not my favorite band, but I'll say without reservation, that they were the best I've ever seen.
Frank Imburgia dude I'm listening to it on my stoop wishing this curveball wristband would have brought us back to that place.... best weekend of my life! They'll throw it down again next year! No way they'll make us wait another 3 years!
Check out the The Runaway Makisupian Jimalope they unleashed on us in Raleigh last month, as well. Musical genius performed as effortless as our next breath....And these guys are having such a great time watching our faces melt, trust me. They are the absolute masters of Free-Form Improvisational Jamming, hands down, and anyone that argues that fact has never experienced a show or is just talking from their hindquarters' opening.
I'm older and part of what I love about going to Phish shows is seeing all the younger people who are able to connect with this type of music. You know, it's not for everyone. It's more like a movie soundtrack that takes you to outer space, to the depths of the ocean, and the depths of your soul. You need to be able to follow a theme in each song and go with the changes. And from floating, no soaring upon the waves, to lookin for that dog that steals everything! I love you all. Nothin left to do but smile smile smile! PS- Thanks folks for taking me in when I go to shows alone. Such good peeps.

OMFG. I cannot stop revisiting this jam. This melts me every time. The whole thing. 3:33 glowsticks and the hold.... Tweezer spaciness. Trey dancing with the echo of the venue and hills of the Watkins glenn. Caspian switch bummed everyone out then wait. This is no average caspian. 23:45 to the end is some of the best Phish ever. 31:20 through the MIKE BOMBS makes me cry. I can't make it loud enough.
alright no joke… i’ve ran about 1000 miles to this jam. phish has played a huge role in my weight loss journey and give them immense credit for losing 110lbs. they have been with me every step of the way, literally. if any of y’all have some extra pounds to shed and love phish, the energy is yours for the taking. comment and reach out i will happily discuss with any of you in private (no charge, i am not a fitness trainer, just love helping people who want to start their journey).
Out of the 60 some odd shows I've seen nothing gives me half the ecstatic feeling I get from this one. I remember losing my friends and wandering the crowd during tweezer. Ended up reuniting during one of the peaks. Even the strangers around us were high fiving me for making it back just in time. Thank you phish for the many magical moments.
Tears of joy from Couch Tour. Now that’s saying something. You could feel the connection between the band and the fans through a television! Lucky humans.
I love jam bands, they are my favorite concerts to go to and I’ve seen many of them multiple times; The Dead, further, Pigeons, PG, Goose, Tauk, Moe, Umphreys, disco, string cheese, to name a few… I’ve even seen Phish twice but for some reason no matter how hard I try I could never get into Phish and idk why… but this… this is some great f**king music
The MSG Jam Filled Baker's Dozen is another one for me. Never could really get into Phish, but this is top tier, and the Jam Filled MSG show is just perfection
Seen most of those bands and all of the greats starting with Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, PF, almost all Jazz greats, hundreds of GD shows, everyone from that era. Phish currently rules the roost in my coup for modern music. Early on, 28 years ago, I learned to ignore the lyrics I thought were nonsense; it's more about the music itself. Great compositions, well constructed and often very complicated sonic architectures, coherent jams, a huge library, fresh renditions that evolved over the last 30+ years, energy that builds, tension that's held to final release and resolution, all performed by some of the best players around. The SiriusXM Phish channel offers an awesome sampling of PHish from broadcasting live shows in realtime to playing shows from over the years along with good commentary. A month of that might get you on the train. One of the best bands ever.
Thank god for technology. Even though I wasn't there, through the use of such technology, I just felt like I was. I get to hear it and see it. That was absolutely amazing and phenomenal. WOW, WHOA!!!!!!. Thanx for posting this.
From around 28:00 on they head to another realm altogether. It's like they just flipped a switch and decided to just give it all right right at that moment. This band is astonishing and that's an understatement.
Magnaball was so much better than anything Phish I ever saw before or since. Both sound quality wise and how they played wise. I cannot wait to return.
how is it that not one single comment was made to the insanely awesome video footage! until now. ive never seen a glowstick war captured sooo perfectly! sooo sick!
@@Buffalo420Billl Top 3 from my 1.0 to wherever we are now. The weather was perfect. The sets were well above average. Short traffic to get in and get out. Short commutes to the stage. It was seriously a perfect festival.
WOW!!!! There can be NO such thing as playing this one too much. If I were to listen to this a thousand times more, it wont be enough. Hope Phish makes their way to Long Island & I'm well enough to go see them.
I've never danced as hard as I did for this tweezcaspian. Outside, aligned under the second stack, fishman side. This is the type of experience you can't put a price tag on! And phish just keeps killing it!! What an inspiration the band is. So grateful to have experienced it with all of you. Much love freaks
It did take them a minute, but they got back. I remember during the second half of the 2011 summer tour as being the turning point for 3.0. Idk what happened, but things have been phantastic. I don't know if it was the legacy they were worrying about, or if they're were some kind of unsolved band grudges, but 09 and 2010 they spent working out the kinks. Page and Mike have been on fire the entirety of 3.0 but it took Trey and Fishman a second to come back. Im not saying those years didn't have their moments. There were a lot in 2010. But overall quality of show has just been great since they seemed to hit that point halfway through 2011. Id say everything from 2013 to preset is just as good as ever. There's not the pin point accuracy of back in the day,but god damn the type 2 jamming is out of this world. Trey's got his mojo back and I've never seen them having this much fun as they do day in and day out. Nobody can do it like Phish does it. Their type 2 jam sound is just so unique. They're the kings
Had that camera been pointed my direction at that moment it would have shown me, with tears streaming down my face, and my wife patting me on the back with a "you're gonna be OK" look because it just broke my heart while lifting it higher than I'd ever experienced at a live music event. I saw Santana do the most beautiful "Incident at Neshabur" that was my previous high point, but that's not even a close second - and I WORSHIP Carlos.
Be honest- how many of you were saying "G*d D*mmit!" to yourselves when Trey segued out of Tweezer into another Caspian. Turned into one of the best jams of the festival LOL
