My father and I took a heli-trip in Silverton (CO, not AK) after I graduated high school in 2010. We were promised six runs -- we received two. On our second run, Mary Scott King fell into a creek after the snow gave way, and her helmet became stuck between two rocks. She drowned. Her boyfriend of several years had planned to propose on top of one of those peaks that day. RIP Mary. Your untimely death allowed me to reconsider the preciousness of life, and how quickly it can be stolen when you're having fun. To the progression of the sport, and to the knowledge you died doing what you love: cheers. I will shred lines in your honor until I too, expire. To Pat, and the entire Red Bull team: keep it up. You guys inspire more people than you can imagine.
