DEPRESSION isn't always dark rooms and crying endlessly. Sometimes its getting up, going to work or school, smiling and laughing all day then coming home sad and drained without knowing the reason why until its time sleep. Then repeat.
As an 18 year old who has been struggling with severe depression ans anxiety for 11 years i can say that these are all very important. I am glad someone made a video like this becasue sometimes someone who may be suffering wants someone to understand them and be there for them even when they say they don’t want it. I also always make sure to look for signs like these in people who care about. I dont want anyone to suffer the way i did or have been. To anyone who needs it you are amazing and you belong here you are beautiful your feelings are always valid.
I relate to all, especially memory loss, which is honestly really worrying. I'm always looking for these signs in people I know. I've noticed it in my cousin, but luckily they're already seeking help on it

I have memory problems too since recently which I didn’t have before despite my depression lasting multiple years now. At first I thought something was physically wrong with my mind. I thought maybe I’m close to death or did something wrong. Atleast now with this video I know what is really happening but still it’s not an fun thing to experience…

The worst part of depression is that I keep Feeling like I’m being a burden to people when I say “I feel empty” or “I’m so tired” and that’s not even all of it-it’s like I can’t even EXPLAIN how I feel. But I guess to other people there are more important things then me and my feelings? Who knows.

To some of us, #10 is an understatement. Spent about 19 years with major depression with daily suicidal thoughts, plans, near attempts, and even one actual attempt. Even in the distracting happy moments, the thoughts were “I wonder how long this will last?” Shoutout to my parents and 3 best friends for life - I’m still amazed by how you put up with my obsessive talks about suicidal thoughts and periodic ghosting. After 9 years of actively working to solve this puzzle, I’m happy to say I rarely have thoughts like that anymore. What a journey. Keep peeling back the layers of your onion!
@@fariduddin3958 I do feel lucky to have a support system, but even so, it never felt like I was going to last for any year. We all have different factors for what influences our depression, but for me, it’s been listening to lot’s of different speakers’ values and wisdom (thanks Psych2Go 😉), my scientific education in psychology, and a vivid understanding that there was a “before-time” where I used to be confident and happy. I don’t know how to win your particular war. But I have faith that it’s winnable, and I know that part of your support system is actually right here. 🙂
@@sillybug7831 There are a lot of things you can do though. I'm more of a naturopathic, functional, and holistic medicine type of person.. Specifically to avoid doctors and meds. You should read about it because it literally saved me.

I don’t like the saying that all teenagers are depressed. It’s a vicious way of normalizing serious symptoms and not taking people seriously. But i’m perfectly serious when I say that 3 friends of mine and myself all fit almost perfectly the warning signs. I don’t know how to talks about it to my friends, because we ususally just hang out together without speaking seriously to each other, and don’t know how to talk about it with my parents, i’.m afraid they won’t take me seriously and i’m also afraid they are right and I don’t have anything wrong with me. This would be so humiliating.
Well, you and your parents actually have reasons to be afraid, as the loudest of the teens tend to diagnose themselves with dozen of mental illnesses and complain to anybody online. I recommend you waiting a bit of time, and if it worsen, then go to psychologist, counsellors or [here was a joke, but people didn't understand it or did'nt find it good], choose anything without afraid (except the last one)). Everyone is trying to normalize depression and anxiety. When I tell people about my anxiety they just blame it on my sleep schedule and my eating habits but nobody asks why are they messed up. People just tell me that I am lazy and I am not focused. I don't even have friends.

Honestly almost all of these are relatable to me. I am forgetting EVERYTHING nowadays and many people started commenting on how weak and thin I am growing. They even said I started to talk lesser. And also the sleep schedule and mood swings are too apparent in my day to day life for almost a year now. I was raised as a 'strong' child, who didn't have any issues and didn't feel sad at all (like some make their sons to 'be a man'). I can't talk about this to anyone and everything just feels dull now. I am just keeping up because I know things can and will be better and I will be stronger.

been struggling with depression for close to 12 years and with the Pandemic, its just has gotten worse. I lost my 1 supporting pillar in my life 9 months ago and now I see no reason to stay in this world. I feel that its not my time to go yet but everyday is suffering and everyday is pain. I told myself that I'll give myself 1 more year to enjoy life and strive for success, and after 1 more year has passed and nothing has changed, I will go to a better place where I no longer have to suffer and feel pain. I am so exhausted. I did everything a good child would do. I completed my university studies, I worked hard, I keep fit, I don't drink, I don't smoke. But no, I dont feel alive, I dont feel happy, even breathing is tiring and painful. I'm crying as I typed this out. Why do I even exist?

Depression is something which become heavier in our daily life when u didn’t ask for help. I think memory loss and talking slower is some signs that even ur close friends could notice it. As someone battling depression, i think it's also having extreme mood swings. Like I could be in the Happiest mood ever, but then one small thing happens and I get extremely sad.
It has been a very long ride for me. Not being able to talk, hiding your emotions for what people might say about you, not loving your self, feeling hopeless, sadness, depressed, etc I’m getting professional help now, but I do believe you also need therapy. I was diagnosed with PTSD years ago, but I denied getting help. Thinking that I can help on my own, that I was strong enough to handle situations, well I didn’t, it’s like you are fighting against the world and it’s too hard and very tiring to do that and you just can not continue, it feels very heavy. The one think I can tell you all is that you are special just the way You are, You are perfect!it’s Ok to make mistakes, Love yourself first….it takes a while to do that at least for me, and even now, I’m still working on it. Keep going, Your time will come, when you will feel you are fully complete, there are wonderful things to discover and explore in this world. Also You will be able to lift up, and help other people that are in the same situation where you were before. Continue your journey, get professional help, it’s totally fine to do that, I know I waited many years to do that. Dont wait too long my friend.
istg yall know when we need these videos. I was literally just crying bc im heading back into a bad mental state that i worked so hard to get out of. But i feel like my problems and issues arent important enough. I feel so guilty for feeling like this but i cant stop it. i don't know, im in the same situation now, really don't know how to come out of it, i don't feel liek going to a therapist because i feel im over my problems, but on the inside, i don't think that's the case :/

Don't worry about venting in the comment like in my opinion this is a good way to vent since you aren't hurting anyone here. You should see the way i have vented in the past like I once just lashed out and started punching a wall till the skin on my nuckles peeled off and even tho I never physically effected everyone I made them worry so you obviously did better than me
It's something that doesn't get talked about nearly enough. "Backsliding" is normal. It happens to us ALL when we're trying so hard to make progress, whether it's a basic behavioral modification (like breaking a bad habit) or to a major therapeutic goal (like treating or curing depression)... The reality is that you're fighting with an intangible mental construct. Invasive thoughts might be the thing, or a nightmare fuel (phobia, rather than necessarily depression), or rewiring the reward system from an addiction... There are good days and bad days, and that's also normal... Progress isn't measured in a direct line going "forward" but in steps forward, backward, and sideways... There are dozens of techniques and attitudes and mental states to go through while you process your situation, and get some improvement in coping strategies and mechanisms... and then when there's a change in your situation, and the coping technique isn't cutting it anymore for that... AND a backslide can happen. "Give me an enemy I can punch in the face!" ~Dean Winchester... You've still come so far. It's no time to toss the towel and give it up. If you need help, reach out. No honor lost for it... I believe in you! ;o)

i’ve suffered with depression almost my whole life, im 16 but ive live with a fake smile for as long as i can remember. i tell everyone that im fine and i joke alot and act like im perfectly fine, but when im alone i just cry, like bad cry. i have had suicidal thoughts and have gotten help but i still have thoughts like the video said,” everyone would be better off without me.” i’ve noticed that my love for music has helped alot and my gf is very supportive and loving and is willing to take time and just be with me during hard times. as i read comments on the vid i notice that there are people here that are like me and ig i dont feel so alone anymore. thank u for letting me share😊
Depression is a real thing and I have several people in my life who I want to share this with. When I was in my preteens, I struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts as everyone shrugged it off as a phase or something else as I'm a people pleaser type. Somedays, it feels like I just want time to stop so can take care of me. Saying no to anyone is always a struggle, even if I know I should put my health first over their wants. It's a daily battle that I hope I can one day overcome. I believe you guys can too. Don't ever stop trying. I believe in all of us. 🤗
Check the behavior of your family of origin do you have a narcissist for a parent? Describing your self as a people pleaser and not being able to say no is a major sign of someone who is a child of a narcissist. I was raised by a narcissist mother who I had to serve, I wasn't allowed to say no or have anything for myself. I only figure out she was a narcissist a few years ago I'm 60 now, if your young you can start healing much earlier than me. I also suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts which go back to my childhood or lack of one. You should be priority number one in your life anyone who doesn't support that doesn't have your best interest at heart. We also have to learn boundaries and saying no to others is part of that.
I just turned 16 on the 16th of September and I've been depressed for years, my parents would pressure me about school, they would force me to do everything even yell at me also hit me, I tried calling for help but my mom says she doesn't want me to leave her. But I'm trying to recover but I love watching your videos ^^

I came here to check if my sister have depression.. And i realized that i am the one who has depression.. this made me cry so hard that no one has noticed for almost 2 years now.. I want to seek for help but i have a toxic household and i cant go to a therapist because of my financial problems, also i cant call a hotline because i moved to a country that i dont know the language of.. Ya know that feeling of hopelessness where recovering just seems soo far out that you kinda give up on wanting to get better? Like when you seek out help and all signs point to the only way you’re gonna get better is by fixing yourself and you just lack the energy to fix yourself so it’s not that you don’t want to get better it’s just that you don’t want to work for it? Or am I just one lazy SOB?
No, I had these feelings too, but it was because in order to fix myself I had to fix the people around me too, but how in the hell am I supposed to do that without getting slashed down by those toxic people? I already had depression, how was I supposed to get better by feeling bad about trying to fix things. I just had to wait until I had a chance to get away from those people. I got better immediately once I moved away. It took only 8 months to feel the best I had ever felt in my life because not only were these people ruining my mental state and stopped me from talking about physical health issues I had, but living with depression also affected my diet and weight. I was so unbelievably happy that I started to love fixing things and helping other people because I felt that I was done fixing myself. I am so outgoing now and have so many new friends!! Good luck to you and anyone who reads this! Think about how other people are affecting your depression and try to figure out what's wrong with THEM instead of taking their words or actions to heart. Once your realize why they act the way they do, you might just be able to start ignoring them so they have less of an effect on your life.

Just shedding some light on a darker topic but, it's nice to see another Arc-V fan here. Haven't seen some especially with a Reiji pfp in a long while. Besides that though I do agree that it's very nice to have a channel like this that cohesively covers many more difficult and misunderstood topics of mental health. It really does make it easier to just reference people to this video rather than attempting to explain something other people may not understand.
Sadly i relate to these things i don't even know im 14y/o but i have this strong urge to jump from a building, hang myself, and do some things that most people wouldn't do. They tought i was just being drama queen like saying some Sudicial things out of nowhere i do some stuff to cope myself by wearing jewel like a ring and make origami craft, and everyone will think im a kid. They had been taking away my ring and origami recently, and i immediately feel so drained, more drained than usual so much so i couldn't get out of bed.for now i had to go back to my old coping mechanism by sh and listening to happy song even though I'll ended up crying in my room, it's making me tired. No one had acknowledged me at all. No one wants to talk to me and if they did they'll probably going to turn my issues to a lecture, i hate lecture. I also have gone through the same and I know how it feels it took me weeks to get out of this, but one thing I learn that we are too strong just challenge yourself challenge your depression courageously face the issues that you are running from slowly you will start building your muscles again your perception about yourself will change and you will stood up stronger than ever. Nothing is more important than your own well being take care of yourself and everything will be alright. We are like a projector how we are from within we project similar things outside. Don't run from sorrow face it. Things are not that bad as it looks.
I can relate to all the mentioned symptoms... I always tend to keep track of everything bad/negative that happens to me, and therefore I can confirm that these symptoms definitely had manifested. I can recall numerous of instances of feeling despondent, being sluggish, and planning to give up everything. And these still persist. My pessimism and extreme self-loathing is an incentive for my attempts to purport to be intelligent (you can deduce that from the words I use in this comment), and vanity. The reason I am persevering with pseudo-intellectualism is merely to feel good about myself. Otherwise, I would feel worthless...

I've dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts for years. Ever since I was 14. I am now 24, still dealing with those thoughts. I'm very anti social, but I go out of my way for people because I don't want people to feel how I felt. The only one I cannot relate to is the appetite, I'm always eating. Food is amazing. I'm still here tho. I guess I have the urge to see if things will get better. So far, it hasn't. But, maybe one day. Thank you for this video and thank you for reading if anyone reads this. Everything can just change into okay so I want to help you in 2 ways. First I would suggest for you to read secret garden story. Im not trying to waste your time but i want to help you through it... Give it a try because the solution for depression you will find it there... After you finish reading it take notes about the solution and how can you apply it.... As a depressed person, I want to help others too. And I have an explanation on most people who have mental illnesses. Most people have this is bcuz of.....being too smart. Depression and other mental illnesses are affecting only these types of people who communicate illiterately , at least that's what I have. Humans are in fact, communicating animals, which also need a partner to survive, or they will suffer. And those people who can't communicate properly are doomed bcuz of being too smart.....
this just helped me realize why I've not been acting normal to everyone else plus i recently found out i have stage 3 cancer at the age of 15 and my life is pretty much over so my goal before i pass is to make money to support my family after I've passed. i was told my chances of survival is less then 15% so all i can do is continue moving forward and hold on to hope
worst part is i cant even spend time with my family sense I'm going to the best private school in the country meaning I'm mostly stuck in my dorms and if i leave the school then my chances of getting a high paying job is over.
Just so everyone knows, there's many types of cause for depression - one can be caused by biochemistry such as ovarian cysts, menopause, benign prostatic hyperplasia, other body organ problems and various neurological disorders - the other by emotional trauma, such as the loss of a loved one, bullying at school/work, childhood trauma, toxic family members, PTSD etc. This list is not exhaustive, there are so many factors that can cause depression, it's not always something you can do anything to alleviate the problem - however, it can be helpful to someone who has depression to know you're there, you're good to listen. Calming and supportive words can help, but they aren't a "fix" and it will not go away overnight. There are some really harmful phrases you can say to people who are depressed such as "snap out of it", "cheer up", "other people have worse lives than you." Never assume that someone "chooses" to be depressed to "get attention" because "attention seeking" in itself is a cry for help, something somewhere is hurting anyone that exhibits those kind of behaviours. "Attention seeking" can also be a subtle sign of suicide or precursor to the event. Helping someone with depression is the most noble thing you can do, but it also can exhaust you too. Be prepared to take extra care of yourself if you are helping someone who is depressed - or do your self care routine together :)

I deal with depression every day and its not always sad and crying, it's emptiness and whilst being "happy" in the moment, you always have that creeping feeling of dread and dullness.
I'm sharing this important message to you and letting you decide for yourself. You'll never know until you try, it may turn your life around when you discover God's amazing plan for your life. (1 Peter 1:3) Jesus Christ left all the glory of heaven and came down to earth through the vehicle of the womb of Virgin Mary. When the Holy Spirit came upon her, she conceived, even though she was never with a man. Jesus Christ was Fully God, Fully Man. Jesus Christ lived 33 years on earth. He healed the sick, caused the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the lame to walk, cast out demons, even raised the dead! Jesus Christ chose to suffer and lay down His life for you and I on the humble wooden Cross, for our sins (moral wrongdoings eg lies, stealing, selfishness, unforgiveness, hate, jealousy, greed, lust, adultery, murder etc etc). He laid down His life for all although He was perfect and sinless. He knew no sin, did no sin, in Him was no sin. He was the God-man who reconciled sinful man back to God (who is Holy, Perfect). He was the Representative of Man, as the Perfect Sacrifice, for God's holiness cannot co-exist with sin, and necessitates a Perfect Sacrifice as sin offering. This is so that Man can now come freely to God to HisThrone of Grace to receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. God loves man (whom He created) and this necessitates the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice to reconcile man back to God. It pained God the Father immeasurably, but it was the Only Way. 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' (Romans 3:23). 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 6:23) HALLELUJAH! Jesus Christ was brutally tortured, given stripe after stripe on His bare body using the Roman whip with ferocious hooks attached to the whip, that clawed out His flesh until He could see His own bones, and no sliver of flesh was left. He became so disfigured His face knew no form. He was spat upon, mocked at. When the time came for Him to depart earth, He said 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.' ( Luke 23:34). He had no bitterness. He was at peace. Jesus Christ became obedient unto death, even death on the Cross! The worst form of punishment of that time. Hmm, this worries me. I'd say I match in 6 of theese signs without even realising it completely. I'm having a hard time remembering when I was happy in my daily-life. I've been like this for like 2 years and actually been started to think that this is the way I am. Gonna try to make a change, thanks for this!
I came back at school after having covid (I’m good now) and it’s been so hard… every kid is SO annoying and I honestly feel so empty now… it’s been so hard… I’m not even suppose to be awake right now… but I chat control that I guess. And I have been snapping at people too. I honestly still don’t know if I have depression. But if you DO have depression…. It’s ok. We are with you. You got this!
I have dealt with this in the past, now that I look back at it, I really wish I could tell my younger self to stop doubting/criticizing myself. Always remember it does get better, you always have someone to talk to. We all care about you and strive to make you feel happy again, it might not seem attainable to you but don't give up, reach out to a trusted adult or friend. Consider seeing a psychiatrist, they really do help.
Its so hard for me to watch this. I didnt know I had this, i didnt call it depression cuz someone told me im too young to feel it, someone told me there are some people who's suffering more than me, someone told me its just me. Its been 5 years since ive kept my mouth shut, it feels normal to feel like that it may have pushed me but I helped my self out of it. But its still there, i just want to be happy again
Depression affects people of all ages and " there are others who have it worse than you" is one of the dumbest things you can say to someone suffering from depression. I feel like this comments section and on the rest of the channel is a safe place for us to share how we're feeling. But try the suicide hotline in your country too. You don't have to feel suicidal to call them. I was referred to them by my doctor and I didn't even know it was the suicide hotline until they answered the phone that way. The gentleman I talked to was Adam and he was so empathetic and calming that I felt better after I talk to him. They can also give you good resources for taking the next step to get help
yep, but please do note that you should try to not keep ALL of it to yourself that you really aren't okay, i can say from experience that it only leads to loneliness which just leads to... ✨suicide thoughts✨
This explains a lot about what's happening to me right now. I think i need some help but have no courage to share it to someone at all physically. I just don't want to trouble my parents more than i already do every passing day. I'm 21 now but still immature and don't have anything useful to do right now. My past is still eating me mentally and I always think of "what if i go back when i still haven't done this and that then do this and that instead" I'm a pathetic piece of human thrash.
I had all of these symptoms. What I did not know is that my year in pain was a sign of already present depression! Thank you for clarifying this for me. I was in so much pain that pain killers and shots did not do the trick as they should have. I was devastated. I hope never to be in that condition again and anybody for that matter. It is like a disability that you can not see from outside. Paralyzing

I remember when I went through depression, it wasn’t like it was a time I could pinpoint by saying I had depression at this time just it was more like nihilism for a while and wondering what was the point in doing anything, I ended up pretty much not doing anything as I didn’t care about my future and that’s why I think it’s very hard to help people with depression as they can know that how they are acting is bad for them but they just won’t care, the only reason I didn’t kill myself is because living was better than being dead, as I wasn’t living in complete torture and well being dead u don’t even feel anything anymore, ur not conscious so ur pretty much just eradicating urself from existence and therefore I came to the conclusion I rather stay alive. I never had to believe in religion or nothing like that, I just accepted thing the way they are and continue doing things, whatever that may be, eg. Taking care of my health, or getting an education because it fills my time and helps produce chemicals in ur brain to not make u feel depressed. But my overall outlook hasn’t changed and I’m glad about that as even though I can be quite sinister in my approach to life, the hard truth is just that and me personally can’t live in a world where I created a fiction delusion/ narrative for me to live in. Life can be dreadful in some ways and accepting that lets u confront those terrible situations when they arise with courage and not running and letting those issues build up until there tsunamis about to crash over the shoreline if that analogy makes sense

As an 18 year old who has been struggling with severe depression ans anxiety for 11 years i can say that these are all very important. I am glad someone made a video like this becasue sometimes someone who may be suffering wants someone to understand them and be there for them even when they say they don’t want it. I also always make sure to look for signs like these in people who care about. I dont want anyone to suffer the way i did or have been. To some of us, #10 is an understatement. Spent about 19 years with major depression with daily suicidal thoughts, plans, near attempts, and even one actual attempt. Even in the distracting happy moments, the thoughts were “I wonder how long this will last?” Shoutout to my parents and 3 best friends for life - I’m still amazed by how you put up with my obsessive talks about suicidal thoughts and periodic ghosting. After 9 years of actively working to solve this puzzle, I’m happy to say I rarely have thoughts like that anymore. What a journey. Keep peeling back the layers of your onion!

@@fariduddin3958 I do feel lucky to have a support system, but even so, it never felt like I was going to last for any year. We all have different factors for what influences our depression, but for me, it’s been listening to lot’s of different speakers’ values and wisdom (thanks Psych2Go 😉), my scientific education in psychology, and a vivid understanding that there was a “before-time” where I used to be confident and happy. I don’t know how to win your particular war. But I have faith that it’s winnable, and I know that part of your support system is actually right here. 🙂

I don’t like the saying that all teenagers are depressed. It’s a vicious way of normalizing serious symptoms and not taking people seriously. But i’m perfectly serious when I say that 3 friends of mine and myself all fit almost perfectly the warning signs. I don’t know how to talks about it to my friends, because we ususally just hang out together without speaking seriously to each other, and don’t know how to talk about it with my parents, i’.m afraid they won’t take me seriously and i’m also afraid they are right and I don’t have anything wrong with me. This would be so humiliating.
Well, you and your parents actually have reasons to be afraid, as the loudest of the teens tend to diagnose themselves with dozen of mental illnesses and complain to anybody online. I recommend you waiting a bit of time, and if it worsen, then go to psychologist, counsellors or [here was a joke, but people didn't understand it or did'nt find it good], choose anything without afraid (except the last one)). I wish you happiness, high productivity and good luck.

Everyone is trying to normalize depression and anxiety. When I tell people about my anxiety they just blame it on my sleep schedule and my eating habits but nobody asks why are they messed up. People just tell me that I am lazy and I am not focused. I don't even have friends.

Honestly almost all of these are relatable to me. I am forgetting EVERYTHING nowadays and many people started commenting on how weak and thin I am growing. They even said I started to talk lesser. And also the sleep schedule and mood swings are too apparent in my day to day life for almost a year now. I was raised as a 'strong' child, who didn't have any issues and didn't feel sad at all (like some make their sons to 'be a man'). I can't talk about this to anyone and everything just feels dull now. I am just keeping up because I know things can and will be better and I will be stronger.

been struggling with depression for close to 12 years and with the Pandemic, its just has gotten worse. I lost my 1 supporting pillar in my life 9 months ago and now I see no reason to stay in this world. I feel that its not my time to go yet but everyday is suffering and everyday is pain. I told myself that I'll give myself 1 more year to enjoy life and strive for success, and after 1 more year has passed and nothing has changed, I will go to a better place where I no longer have to suffer and feel pain. I am so exhausted. I did everything a good child would do. I completed my university studies, I worked hard, I keep fit, I don't drink, I don't smoke. But no, I dont feel alive, I dont feel happy, even breathing is tiring and painful. I'm crying as I typed this out. Why do I even exist?

I… feel… the exact same. I’m universally considered a genius, supposedly charismatic, attractive, and kind but I just can’t see anything good in myself. I don’t think whoever I talk to can realize that I don’t care about how smart I am, how funny I may be, or how good my hair looks when I don’t straighten it right now. I want to have a reason to smile. I want to have a reason to look forward to tomorrow. I want a reason to stop always looking forward to sleeping because maybe then I might have a dream where everything is better. I just want someone to hug me and give me a real reason to not give up. I just wanted to say this. Depression is *NOT* a joke. If you are anything like my friend who would just watch this and start doing all the signs in it to make people feel bad for you, *don’t* Depression is a real thing, you shouldn’t fake it.
The signs are-
1. 0:19 they feel helpless and hopeless
2. 0:42 they've lost interest and pleasure in their daily
3. 1:06 they have feelings of self loathing and worthlessness
4. 1:28 they have unexplained aches and pain
5. 2:03 they feel fatigued and slow
6. 2:23 they have memory issues
7. 2:42 they develop changes in their sleep habits
8. 3:20 they have a change in their appetite and weight
9. 3:54 they're irritable and have mood swings
10. 4:25 they obsessively talk and think about death

I dont mask these symptoms...but i have seen this in myself and i am feeling like i masked these symptoms. I dont have depression for sure ig. Its just a bad phase...no i dont have depression 😅...no i dont
As someone battling depression, i think it's also having extreme mood swings. Like I could be in the Happiest mood ever, but then one small thing happens and I get extremely sad.
It has been a very long ride for me. Not being able to talk, hiding your emotions for what people might say about you, not loving your self, feeling hopeless, sadness, depressed, etc
I’m getting professional help now, but I do believe you also need therapy. I was diagnosed with PTSD years ago, but I denied getting help.
Thinking that I can help on my own, that I was strong enough to handle situations, well I didn’t, it’s like you are fighting against the world and it’s too hard and very tiring to do that and you just can not continue, it feels very heavy. The one think I can tell you all is that you are special just the way You are, You are perfect!it’s Ok to make mistakes, Love yourself first….it takes a while to do that at least for me, and even now, I’m still working on it. Keep going, Your time will come, when you will feel you are fully complete, there are wonderful things to discover and explore in this world. Also You will be able to lift up, and help other people that are in the same situation where you were before. Continue your journey, get professional help, it’s totally fine to do that, I know I waited many years to do that. Dont wait too long my friend.

But i feel like my problems and issues arent important enough. I feel so guilty for feeling like this but i cant stop it. Don't worry about venting in the comment like in my opinion this is a good way to vent since you aren't hurting anyone here. You should see the way i have vented in the past like I once just lashed out and started punching a wall till the skin on my nuckles peeled off and even tho I never physically effected everyone I made them worry so you obviously did better than me
It's something that doesn't get talked about nearly enough. "Backsliding" is normal. It happens to us ALL when we're trying so hard to make progress, whether it's a basic behavioral modification (like breaking a bad habit) or to a major therapeutic goal (like treating or curing depression)...
The reality is that you're fighting with an intangible mental construct. Invasive thoughts might be the thing, or a nightmare fuel (phobia, rather than necessarily depression), or rewiring the reward system from an addiction... There are good days and bad days, and that's also normal... Progress isn't measured in a direct line going "forward" but in steps forward, backward, and sideways... There are dozens of techniques and attitudes and mental states to go through while you process your situation, and get some improvement in coping strategies and mechanisms... and then when there's a change in your situation, and the coping technique isn't cutting it anymore for that... AND a backslide can happen.

i’ve suffered with depression almost my whole life, im 16 but ive live with a fake smile for as long as i can remember. i tell everyone that im fine and i joke alot and act like im perfectly fine, but when im alone i just cry, like bad cry. i have had suicidal thoughts and have gotten help but i still have thoughts like the video said,” everyone would be better off without me.” i’ve noticed that my love for music has helped alot and my gf is very supportive and loving and is willing to take time and just be with me during hard times. as i read comments on the vid i notice that there are people here that are like me and ig i dont feel so alone anymore.

Depression is a real thing and I have several people in my life who I want to share this with.
When I was in my preteens, I struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts as everyone shrugged it off as a phase or something else as I'm a people pleaser type. Somedays, it feels like I just want time to stop so can take care of me. Saying no to anyone is always a struggle, even if I know I should put my health first over their wants.
It's a daily battle that I hope I can one day overcome. I believe you guys can too.

Check the behavior of your family of origin do you have a narcissist for a parent? Describing your self as a people pleaser and not being able to say no is a major sign of someone who is a child of a narcissist. I was raised by a narcissist mother who I had to serve, I wasn't allowed to say no or have anything for myself. I only figure out she was a narcissist a few years ago I'm 60 now, if your young you can start healing much earlier than me. I also suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts which go back to my childhood or lack of one.
You should be priority number one in your life anyone who doesn't support that doesn't have your best interest at heart. We also have to learn boundaries and saying no to others is part of that.
I just turned 16 on the 16th of September and I've been depressed for years, my parents would pressure me about school, they would force me to do everything even yell at me also hit me, I tried calling for help but my mom says she doesn't want me to leave her. But I'm trying to recover but I love watching your videos ^^

Like when you seek out help and all signs point to the only way you’re gonna get better is by fixing yourself and you just lack the energy to fix yourself so it’s not that you don’t want to get better it’s just that you don’t want to work for it?

No, I had these feelings too, but it was because in order to fix myself I had to fix the people around me too, but how in the hell am I supposed to do that without getting slashed down by those toxic people? I already had depression, how was I supposed to get better by feeling bad about trying to fix things. I just had to wait until I had a chance to get away from those people. I got better immediately once I moved away. It took only 8 months to feel the best I had ever felt in my life because not only were these people ruining my mental state and stopped me from talking about physical health issues I had, but living with depression also affected my diet and weight. I was so unbelievably happy that I started to love fixing things and helping other people because I felt that I was done fixing myself. I am so outgoing now and have so many new friends!!
Good luck to you and anyone who reads this! Think about how other people are affecting your depression and try to figure out what's wrong with THEM instead of taking their words or actions to heart. Once your realize why they act the way they do, you might just be able to start ignoring them so they have less of an effect on your life.

In my school we do this thing where u run laps I'm in 1st place but depression is ruining my career in school but the videos u make cheer me up.
Sadly i relate to these things i don't even know im 14y/o but i have this strong urge to jump from a building, hang myself, and do some things that most people wouldn't do. They tought i was just being drama queen like saying some Sudicial things out of nowhere i do some stuff to cope myself by wearing jewel like a ring and make origami craft, and everyone will think im a kid. They had been taking away my ring and origami recently, and i immediately feel so drained, more drained than usual so much so i couldn't get out of bed.for now i had to go back to my old coping mechanism by sh and listening to happy song even though I'll ended up crying in my room, it's making me tired. No one had acknowledged me at all. No one wants to talk to me and if they did they'll probably going to turn my issues to a lecture, i hate lecture. Sometimes i feel worthless listening to these lectures ,i had learning helplessness at the age of 8-9 to this day,i couldn't get a job done even if i used to love it now it's just nothing to me ,someone better had it better than me so i give up,If you read this far thanks a lot to read my message

I also have gone through the same and I know how it feels it took me weeks to get out of this, but one thing I learn that we are too strong just challenge yourself challenge your depression courageously face the issues that you are running from slowly you will start building your muscles again your perception about yourself will change and you will stood up stronger than ever.
Nothing is more important than your own well being take care of yourself and everything will be alright. We are like a projector how we are from within we project similar things outside. Don't run from sorrow face it. Things are not that bad as it looks.

I always tend to keep track of everything bad/negative that happens to me, and therefore I can confirm that these symptoms definitely had manifested. I can recall numerous of instances of feeling despondent, being sluggish, and planning to give up everything. And these still persist.
My pessimism and extreme self-loathing is an incentive for my attempts to purport to be intelligent (you can deduce that from the words I use in this comment), and vanity. The reason I am persevering with pseudo-intellectualism is merely to feel good about myself. Otherwise, I would feel worthless...

I've dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts for years. Ever since I was 14. I am now 24, still dealing with those thoughts. I'm very anti social, but I go out of my way for people because I don't want people to feel how I felt. The only one I cannot relate to is the appetite, I'm always eating. Food is amazing. I'm still here tho. I guess I have the urge to see if things will get better. So far, it hasn't. But, maybe one day. Thank you for this video and thank you for reading if anyone reads this. As a depressed person, I want to help others too. And I have an explanation on most people who have mental illnesses.
Most people have this is bcuz of.....being too smart.
Depression and other mental illnesses are affecting only these types of people who communicate illiterately , at least that's what I have.
Humans are in fact, communicating animals, which also need a partner to survive, or they will suffer.
And those people who can't communicate properly are doomed bcuz of being too smart.....

this just helped me realize why I've not been acting normal to everyone else plus i recently found out i have stage 3 cancer at the age of 15 and my life is pretty much over so my goal before i pass is to make money to support my family after I've passed. i was told my chances of survival is less then 15% so all i can do is continue moving forward and hold on to hope
worst part is i cant even spend time with my family sense I'm going to the best private school in the country meaning I'm mostly stuck in my dorms and if i leave the school then my chances of getting a high paying job is over.
Just so everyone knows, there's many types of cause for depression - one can be caused by biochemistry such as ovarian cysts, menopause, benign prostatic hyperplasia, other body organ problems and various neurological disorders - the other by emotional trauma, such as the loss of a loved one, bullying at school/work, childhood trauma, toxic family members, PTSD etc. This list is not exhaustive, there are so many factors that can cause depression, it's not always something you can do anything to alleviate the problem - however, it can be helpful to someone who has depression to know you're there, you're good to listen. Calming and supportive words can help, but they aren't a "fix" and it will not go away overnight. There are some really harmful phrases you can say to people who are depressed such as "snap out of it", "cheer up", "other people have worse lives than you."
Never assume that someone "chooses" to be depressed to "get attention" because "attention seeking" in itself is a cry for help, something somewhere is hurting anyone that exhibits those kind of behaviours. "Attention seeking" can also be a subtle sign of suicide or precursor to the event.
Helping someone with depression is the most noble thing you can do, but it also can exhaust you too. Be prepared to take extra care of yourself if you are helping someone who is depressed - or do your self care routine together :)

5. They feel fatigued and slow.
6. They have memory issues.

I deal with depression every day and its not always sad and crying, it's emptiness and whilst being "happy" in the moment, you always have that creeping feeling of dread and dullness.

I came back at school after having covid (I’m good now) and it’s been so hard… every kid is SO annoying and I honestly feel so empty now… it’s been so hard… I’m not even suppose to be awake right now… but I chat control that I guess. I have dealt with this in the past, now that I look back at it, I really wish I could tell my younger self to stop doubting/criticizing myself. Always remember it does get better, you always have someone to talk to. We all care about you and strive to make you feel happy again, it might not seem attainable to you but don't give up, reach out to a trusted adult or friend. Consider seeing a psychiatrist, they really do help.
Definitely need to talk to my brother he has about 8 out of 10 of these things
Its so hard for me to watch this. I didnt know I had this, i didnt call it depression cuz someone told me im too young to feel it, someone told me there are some people who's suffering more than me, someone told me its just me. Its been 5 years since ive kept my mouth shut, it feels normal to feel like that it may have pushed me but I helped my self out of it. But its still there, i just want to be happy again
Depression affects people of all ages and " there are others who have it worse than you" is one of the dumbest things you can say to someone suffering from depression. I feel like this comments section and on the rest of the channel is a safe place for us to share how we're feeling. But try the suicide hotline in your country too. You don't have to feel suicidal to call them. I was referred to them by my doctor and I didn't even know it was the suicide hotline until they answered the phone that way. The gentleman I talked to was Adam and he was so empathetic and calming that I felt better after I talk to him. They can also give you good resources for taking the next step to get help

This explains a lot about what's happening to me right now. I think i need some help but have no courage to share it to someone at all physically. I just don't want to trouble my parents more than i already do every passing day. I'm 21 now but still immature and don't have anything useful to do right now. My past is still eating me mentally and I always think of "what if i go back when i still haven't done this and that then do this and that instead" I'm a pathetic piece of human thrash.

I had all of these symptoms. What I did not know is that my year in pain was a sign of already present depression! Thank you for clarifying this for me. I was in so much pain that pain killers and shots did not do the trick as they should have. I was devastated. I hope never to be in that condition again and anybody for that matter. It is like a disability that you can not see from outside. Paralyzing
It's kind of scary because I'm too nervous to ask my parents if i could gi to a doctor to see if i have depression or anxiety, but I don't know if it's just my extreme introvertedness.

I remember when I went through depression, it wasn’t like it was a time I could pinpoint by saying I had depression at this time just it was more like nihilism for a while and wondering what was the point in doing anything, I ended up pretty much not doing anything as I didn’t care about my future and that’s why I think it’s very hard to help people with depression as they can know that how they are acting is bad for them but they just won’t care, the only reason I didn’t kill myself is because living was better than being dead, as I wasn’t living in complete torture and well being dead u don’t even feel anything anymore, ur not conscious so ur pretty much just eradicating urself from existence and therefore I came to the conclusion I rather stay alive. I never had to believe in religion or nothing like that, I just accepted thing the way they are and continue doing things, whatever that may be, eg. Taking care of my health, or getting an education because it fills my time and helps produce chemicals in ur brain to not make u feel depressed. But my overall outlook hasn’t changed and I’m glad about that as even though I can be quite sinister in my approach to life, the hard truth is just that and me personally can’t live in a world where I created a fiction delusion/ narrative for me to live in. Life can be dreadful in some ways and accepting that lets u confront those terrible situations when they arise with courage and not running and letting those issues build up until there tsunamis about to crash over the shoreline if that analogy makes sense
These are also all the symptoms of inflammation in the body, gut, and brain.
