i like it even more than the first one. also the music was a nice choice. Did you run into any issues with the crayons melting and mixing with the epoxy since the poxy heats up while curing?
To improve the appearance of the epoxy overlay try gently heating the epoxy with the heat gun while it's still wet. Fresh epoxy has air bubbles in it that can cause cloudiness or milkiness. Heating the uncured epoxy will force most of the bubbles to the surface.
I did do that. I'm not sure if it was on camera or if I just cut it from the edit since it wasn't super interesting to watch...and I wasn't thinking this as a tutorial type video.
@@Foureyes.Furniture Its also good idea to have vacuum chamber to remove majority of the bubbles before pouring, so only little heating is required afterwards.
I’m actually using epoxy in a wood ring project and if you let a little bit of bubbles stay in, it adds to the effect. Probably better for stand alone epoxy, though.

Honestly this looks amazing. I tried doing something similar, with the same techniques, but it wasn't a table - just a little decoration. Yours turned out much better.
I did this to a few bookshelves 2 years ago for a school project with my newphew for his classroom. Some with crayons flush to the top, and some with epoxy on top.. The epoxy ones are still looking like it did when i made them, but with a "less" glare. BUT the crayons flush to the wood ones.. I have only fixed it 4 times with tiny tiny bumps in the crayon.. And this is from shelves that are beeing frequently used but small children every day. People should really try this and see for themself.. Its super easy and looks really cool!
The music gives the video a totally different feel. I think I like it. Also your editing is way way better than any other maker that I’ve seen. Keep it up!
I'm too focused on making videos to straight up make another one. I could do something similar...it woudl be expensive. DM me on IG if you really want to talk about it.
I just wanted to say i’m overwhelmingly in love with this video? I clicked because I was just curious as to what this crayon table was and I was really ready to skip through to get to the product but everything about this video is beautiful. The editing for this video is really engaging, I didn’t even realize it was that long. It mystifies me, how nice this video is because I’ve never been so inspired by a youtube video. It’s so amazing to me. Even the sponsor was well implemented, hell it’s better than the ones that sort of ‘skit’ the sponsor. The music here is what makes it so nice and inviting to watch too. The second song just really sealed the deal for me. Then the animations, visually simple but honestly ?? it’s such a nice cut away and it all makes sense. I never leave comments especially things that are this long just raving about the technical part of a video but I feel as though this video deserves it. I’m really sorry this is so long but I feel like it needs to be said. Yeah, this video is oddly inspiring for my stories and I wanna thank you for that too.
I love your videos because the quality and the editing are very good. You can tell that you put a lot of effort and passion in your projects and videos.
The chords and melody of the music sounds very Japanese. Lots of motion and always going somewhere, where? Not sure but I don't mind. Edit: I checked who makes it and *BAM* he's Japanese.
Yup...I think I really like it b/c it's reminiscent of a lot of the video games that I played in the 90s that had, you guessed it, Japanese composers :)
The main descending melody is used in The Legend Of Zelda. It's a very iconic melody in the gaming world, as the franchise has reused it for almost every Zelda game.
I’m glad you decided to plug the holes instead of using the crayons. The crayon in the joinery was the only thing I disliked about your first one so this looks better with the plugs, to me anyway. I love the depth that came with using the epoxy in this version and it will definitely be more durable. Great job. 👍🏼
@Western Chauvinist I mean, there have been jokes about how dim Marines are for as long as the Marines have existed. Most of them have come about from the service rivalries. Sort of a good-natured ribbing. You know what MARINE stands for? Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential. Now, stop being a snowflake that gets your panties in a wad when someone makes a joke. Come to think of it, you'd be a perfect Marine.
This is the first video of yours that I have seen and I absolutely love it. You didn't need to go that hard with the quality of editing and animation but you did and it makes a very smooth and enjoyable video!!! Hope you get the subs and views to deserve on every video. A+ work!
Hey Chris Great followup to your first revision of the crayon table. The piano background and general narration are appreciated, and a nice forward step. At the 7:20 mark you mention countersinks, however they are counterbores. I have developed a process where I cut my counterbores, then make short plugs from delrin, and then top with a fill material (ie crayon for your project,), or then cap with either a short wooden plugs that have near net grain pattern to the body of piece being plug, or a contrasting wood plug. Peace
I will look to see if I can find pixs of a round slab table that I did with liquid turquoise inlay( find on Amazon). I used 2P10 thick at first( without delrin plugs) , but found it cured too quickly, and had voids. Found that by filling in with delrin or aluminum barstock you have alot less volume to capture air with the liquid element. If I cant find pics, I am in the process of helping my little guys cub scout pack make 12 pinewood derby cars this week, and have a request to produce a live edge slab table, with "liquid metal look" inlays as screw plugs. I am going to melt aluminium cans and pour them in the counterbores. If time allows next weekend I will try to do some prototypes and fwd to you via Instagram. Peace
PS I've started carving signs thanks to Dave, Eric and Vicki's UA-cam channel at make a wood sign. Your crayon melt technique instantly opened up the thought process as my kids now love to paint the carved inlays. We will try a crayon melt fill and shoot some pics.

There’s only one problem in this video it’s a great video but I don’t speak smart people so if there is like a for dummies version of this let me know
Just watch it on mute...it all comes across :)
"hey guys today i melted crayons into a dent in a table and put clear plastic juice over it so the crayon dont get stabbed"
I love how you can think of these things and do them and they work out you have
Really good ideas
Beautiful. Wax on, wax off. 😊
I wish I was this creative and crafty... Chris, you're amazing!
Nice Table I want one now. :3
Wow you have really stepped up your game on wood working and videos, nice job.
Thanks Dalton...glad to see it being noticed. Been trying :)
What about next project is table made of crayon(no wood)?
Honestly this looks amazing. I tried doing something similar, with the same techniques, but it wasn't a table - just a little decoration. Yours turned out much better.
Thanks Rosie...just give it another go :)
Hey, nice video! Only thing, the piano is realy loud.
Thanks...just turn the volume down. JK, I know what you mean. Loud within the mix :)
DjibZzzZzz really*
I did this to a few bookshelves 2 years ago for a school project with my newphew for his classroom. Some with crayons flush to the top, and some with epoxy on top.. The epoxy ones are still looking like it did when i made them, but with a "less" glare. BUT the crayons flush to the wood ones.. I have only fixed it 4 times with tiny tiny bumps in the crayon.. And this is from shelves that are beeing frequently used but small children every day. People should really try this and see for themself.. Its super easy and looks really cool!
Clever ending ;)
:)
I never have heard such good music in a youtube channel,
you have a wonderful ta for music!
Ouch, what nicked your hand?
I don't remember...I always have lots of little cuts on my hands from woodworking. Usually happens grabbing things, or installing things.
The music gives the video a totally different feel. I think I like it. Also your editing is way way better than any other maker that I’ve seen. Keep it up!
Thanks man...I thought this one needed a more upbeat edit and music to fit the edit.
how much would you charge for one?
This music reminded me of Miyazaki Films meets Legend of Zelda.
It definitely has "video game-ish" qualities to it :)
I thought fairy fountain from breath of the wild.
Yup...I think I really like it b/c it's reminiscent of a lot of the video games that I played in the 90s that had, you guessed it, Japanese composers :)
it reminded me of a studio ghibli composition
Hah! I thought so, too!
The main descending melody is used in The Legend Of Zelda. It's a very iconic melody in the gaming world, as the franchise has reused it for almost every Zelda game.
This is definitely one of my favorite videos on your channel
Is it just me or does he sound like Jason from the Good Place? Or JYAINYU
Jesse Eisenberg
Yall high. He does not sound like these dudes at all
I’m glad you decided to plug the holes instead of using the crayons. The crayon in the joinery was the only thing I disliked about your first one so this looks better with the plugs, to me anyway. I love the depth that came with using the epoxy in this version and it will definitely be more durable. Great job. 👍🏼
Do you know how many Marines you could have fed with the crayons?
A+ work!
New Razer Table Chroma RGB with USB and 16.8M colors
Your videos are so amusing. Especially your design art style and the minimalism.
I thought you were like 19 until you mentioned you have a 5 year old kid
Hey Chris
Great followup to your first revision of the crayon table.
Peace
Thanks...do you have a visual example? DM me on Instagram or shoot me an email.
Peace
PS
I've started carving signs thanks to Dave, Eric and Vicki's UA-cam channel at make a wood sign.
Your crayon melt technique instantly opened up the thought process as my kids now love to paint the carved inlays.
We will try a crayon melt fill and shoot some pics.
