This is a really excellent video. I have the Pride iGo Jazzy Passport which I love and is around 4 years old. Weight of the chair is my biggest issue, especially as it’s used only occasionally as a spare. The most important advice I’d tell anyone is to maintain the battery if not in regular use. This includes charging it and also turning off the actual battery. I didn’t turn off the rocker switch and after 72 hours of charging I couldn’t save it. It cost the equivalent of $415 (£323 GBP) for a new battery.
It is indeed important to properly maintain your batteries. We have a video tutorial for maintenance tips as well to help our customers. Thanks for watching our video and commenting! Power wheelchairs, if not properly maintained, can lose a lot of their performance and may even not work since it runs on electricity so it's not really recommend using them while it's snowing or under extreme weather conditions. If you want to explore other options though, you can give our non-commissioned sales expert a call at (888) 263-5601. Thanks for watching our video and commenting. We appreciate the support!
@MobilityDirect considering I live in northern Minnesota where 8 to 9 months of year is snow We need something durable. A regular power chair has been fine but looking to make it easier to get daughter to school AND have power for outings. Until this point power chair lives at school as I can't transport it. Just looking for car to doors and doors to car not going for long treks in the snow but there WILL be snow involved in daily life
2questions…..are the joy stick armrest reversible. I am left handed with a broken right elbow. 2) are their electric wheelchairs that can roll in van and lock in so one can drive
Thanks for watching our video and commenting! We have a wide selection of power wheelchairs that you can choose from. We are looking at getting one of these for mom. She was able to test drive the Journey Zoomer (that's the only one we can find in our area). She didn't like how it came to what she felt when it came to a stop ... said she found it "jarring" when she let off the control and it stopped. In your opinion, which of these chairs has the "smoothest" stop?
As a daily user of a power chair who has used several different chairs, that's about how you drive it. You don't just "let off the controls" and expect to roll to a stop, the way a vehicle would. That's not safe. You have to be sure that the chair will stop immediately if you're not intentionally moving it forward. The abrupt feeling is because the braking is not something you actively apply, the magnetic brakes are default on and released when you push the joystick, rather than engaged when you stop.
Have you seen or carry any wheelchairs like these, but have an seat that raises like the power chairs? We're trying to get something that is lighter and transportable, but has the feature of being able to elevate one's self to maybe reach a counter, look into the fridge, and etc. Not standing.

Hey you do a great job on these videos probably best reviews on youtube tbh, im in the market to purchase one for my mother, i do not understand why the manufacturers of these chairs do not give the operator the ability to disengage the wheel motors from a seated position! Example: mom gets out of the wheelchair an onto her recliner now the wheelchair is sideways directly in front of her and because the wheels are locked by motors being engaged she is unable to move it aside to recline her chair … or if she needs to reposition in to get back in the chair. Its driving me nuts that they have not thought of this bro! Anyway Thanks for the reviews an if you have any suggestions plz let me no!
That's actually a really good suggestion. I'll bring it up to the R&D team at pride and golden. They listen to our suggestions. Thanks for your support and comment.

They all do pretty well on carpet, of course it all depends on the load and how thick the carpet is. If the unit is maxed out with the weight capacity and its on very thick carpet it might get hung up, that's with every model though.

Is it true the journey chairs charge in half the time as the others? I got to test the cricket and when I would turn even a tiny bit the chair slowed to almost a stop, even if I was trying to go straight but I couldn’t push the joy stick perfectly straight. The the journey chairs do that? Maybe the chair i roads’ battery was dead becuase I can’t imagine it was so terrible to ride
It probably had a bad battery on it. Where did you test it? The journey chairs don't really charge faster, they just have smaller batteries. So it takes less time to charge.
@@MobilityDirect I tested it in store where I live, they said it was a safety mechanism to prevent the chair from tipping over. Ok I thought all these chairs had about the same travel range so I thought they’d have the same size battery. Thanks for the response!

Your demo videos don't show how to use these chairs in a typical household. Going around tight corners and not bumping into furniture. How to pull them up front entrance stairs, etc. Going into restaurants. Pulling up to a table. Just showing in a park setting doesn't show me anything.
Thanks for watching our video and commenting. We do have a ride along video for a power wheelchair going on a grocery store. You'll have to lean a bit forward if you want to push a supermarket cart and it'll be quite difficult to do so as well with one hand on the cart and the other on the joystick. You'll probably want to consider getting a bag and sitting it on your lap while you go shopping or get a rear basket attachment to your power wheelchair. Here's the video and the product details page of the power wheel chair from the video: ua-cam.com/video/GkWAqJl2By4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MobilityDirect www.mobilityscootersdirect.com/power-wheelchairs/golden-buzzabout-power-wheelchair.html
For grocery shopping I use a basket on my lap for a few groceries. For larger amount of groceries I either bring someone with me or order online for home delivery.
Some of those Answers. Maybe easier to ask in a phone call, but if somebody who is a lifelong disabled person, I can tell you that any public location now like restaurants, malls, entrances, etc. are all going to be either the 32 or 36 inch ADA compliant with I can’t remember which that is but publicly you’ll be fine. The only place that can be challenging at times would be through clothing, rack, isles, and Some of the more crowded mall, stores that just have wall-to-wall stuff in a shopping space. However, the Restaurant tables are also ADA compliant for any wheelchair height. Easiest thing to look for is whether the arms can be flipped back or if you have what is called a desk arm which are shorter. I prefer swing away foot rest and swing away arms. Pulling things up steps are going to be a challenge for any wheelchair, If you don’t have a ramp But if you get something called a threshold ramp, you can put those over almost any small step. Just look for those on places like Amazon that have just a bad everything and you just have to measure your width of your door and the height of your step. but that’s why the return policies are important because you could purchase some thing and then try it for 30 days and send it back. Sometimes there is just no way to answer every possible scenario for each home, but I do agree. Maybe they can find a way to do just as an example an indoor video but again that would just be according to your own apartment or home. Have someone do measurements of your hallway and radiuses to give you an idea of the turn radius you need. This kind of purchase does take a lot of thought and measurement and I understand your frustration but hopefully those will give you a few of your answers,. Whether or not you would bump into furniture to do with how much you have in your home that’s what the turn radius would be so you may find that you need to remove furniture to have room for something like this which is what I have done in some cases in my relatively small home Got rid of smaller chairs, looking into shorter couches, those kinds of things I understand the finances involved in that in the planning involved in that but sometimes it’s what we need to do Just think something like “the smallest radius that you can find that also allows you for the most comfortable seat and weight of the chair itself. Looks like most power wheelchairs are going to be a 20 to the 24 inch radius maybe 27 depending on the models. I just shopped for the smallest radius that also gives you the seat size and depth that you want for comfort and you will be OK.

Prices change, we cannot post pricing on videos because when prices change, we cannot change the video to reflect the price change. If we did, we would have many upset viewers expecting an out dated price point. It's just the way it works, most other dealers do the same thing, at least the smart ones. If you want to see current pricing, visit our website or call our non-commissioned sales experts anytime.
If you click the link in the description, for the chair that interests you, it will take you to the current price. Of course, mobility direct gets a commission, but that's why they made this video.

Each passenger is allowed to have 300 watt hours, you would need to have a second person take possession of the second battery .

Here's the video and the product details page of the power wheel chair from the video:

Whether or not you would bump into furniture to do with how much you have in your home that’s what the turn radius would be so you may find that you need to remove furniture to have room for something like this which is what I have done in some cases in my relatively small home Got rid of smaller chairs, looking into shorter couches, those kinds of things I understand the finances involved in that in the planning involved in that but sometimes it’s what we need to do
Just think something like “the smallest radius that you can find that also allows you for the most comfortable seat and weight of the chair itself. Looks like most power wheelchairs are going to be a 20 to the 24 inch radius maybe 27 depending on the models. I just shopped for the smallest radius that also gives you the seat size and depth that you want for comfort and you will be OK.
I have culver mobility power chair and it's quite amazing
Do you have any folding wheelchair that allows you to elevate your legs ?
Folding wheelchairs are usually travel friendly and only has the footplate in a certain position. We have a wide selection of it on our website at
www.mobilityscootersdirect.com/power-wheelchairs/folding-power-wheelchairs.html
If you want an elevating footplate, you might want to check full sized power wheelchairs like the Golden Compass Sport:

Why don't you talk about the price
Prices change, we cannot post pricing on videos because when prices change, we cannot change the video to reflect the price change. If we did, we would have many upset viewers expecting an out dated price point. It's just the way it works, most other dealers do the same thing, at least the smart ones. If you want to see current pricing, visit our website or call our non-commissioned sales experts anytime.
If you click the link in the description, for the chair that interests you, it will take you to the current price. Of course, mobility direct gets a commission, but that's why they made this video.
