I've had my eyes peeled for a good condition is300, and they are super rare. people are asking over 10k for ones with 250k+ miles on them its wild 😔

Thanks for another list like this. I will be in the market for a sports car in the 10-20k range sometime this winter and you nailed every suggestion. Lots of similar videos will have prices from years ago or cars that are so uncommon that you might just pray you find one

Glad you got something out of it and best of luck on your search! I figured this would be helpful with the car market being so skewed. Wanted to stick to reasonable cars that can truly be found within the claimed price range. Thanks for watching

As an owner of a 04 is300, I would like to say the best part about these cars is the suspension and steering. They are relatively lightweight for a sedan, double wishbone suspension front and rear, as well as having some of the best steering I have felt for a car of this age. The 2jz ge vvti is an excellent motor but takes some money to get it turbocharged (na-t). Overall I absolutely love my is300 and would recommend the car to anyone looking, just try to find one for a good price.

I was unaware of the double wishbone suspension, but that’s a great bonus. Glad you’re enjoying yours, I think they are certainly underrated. Looks nice from what I can see in the profile pic!

Never really considered these since it takes so much to wake them up, but it is definitely the last affordable 2jz platform, and they wont be for long. Might pick one up if I can find a manual

Honorable mention: g37- More reliable and more powerful than the g35. A lotta people sleep on them, so you can easily grab one for under 12k

Pretty good video since it's actually connectee to reality not like other videos
Only thing that always surprise me is that sub 7 secs is considered slow
I'm from Germany and over here if you got smth sub 8 sec you're pretty quick

Glad you enjoyed the video, I wanted to keep it reasonable by proving the prices of each car as well. The American car world seems to put a ton of emphasis on 0-60 and horsepower rather than power to weight ratio or handling dynamics, I’ve heard people call 4 seconds slow lol. Thanks for watching!

I don't understand how a C4 corvette made it on this list and a Base C5 didn't. A base C5 is virtually better in every single measurable category that matters (handling, braking, acceleration, reliability, fuel economy, aftermarket availability, crash rating) except price, but not by much; base C5s regularly go for $10-15k with reasonable mileage. The LT1-LT4 Corvette engines were not exactly reliable either, as they used the Optispark ignition which were severely problematic, limited in RPM range, and a nightmare to replace. Not only that, the engines were VERY sensitive to even slight overheating. So, if you get a clean C4, plan to put another $3-5k into parts and labor deleting the Optispark with a reluctor wheel retrofit, and upgrading the cooling system if you want a truly reliable & trackable car.
Also, I feel like the 05-06 GTO would have been a much better candidate for the pony car spot rather than the 3V Mustang. They handled and weighed about the same, yet the GTO has 100 hp more and can be found for $15k with approximately 70-80k miles. Not to mention, the GTO's LS2 responds WAY better to bolt-ons than the 3V.

You can find the Mk6 GTI much more readily for under 15k, and even can get the R variant in that range. Although imo the Mk7 is a better car.

suprised that for 15k you put the c4 instead of c5. You can find them pretty easily and the ls1 has 350 hp, is easy to build with high power potential. Also they look alot better imo.

    • @running2redline
      @running2redline  8 місяців тому

I agree the C5 is a much better car, had an 04 Z06 and loved it. I figured because the C4 is found with lower mileage and the C5 took 1st in my $20k video that I would mix it up a bit. No doubt a C5 under 15 is the best car out there though!

@@running2redline congrats on your c5z man those things are no joke. I still think the c5 deserves the spot but i see your pov. also what sports car is in you garage currently? 👍

Thank you, I sold the 2004 Z06 for a 2005 Base Corvette just to move into the C6 generation. Thinking in the spring I will be splitting it into two cars though. Looking at a Gen V Camaro SS for a daily and an NC Miata track build. I've been itching for more seat time on the track.@@ImporttBeats

@@running2redline nice! I will be picking up a ls3 c6 very soon, looks like I will be sharing a engine with your camaro lmao. Miata is always the answer
