- 10 of my favorite piano pieces. Each excerpt is played by me.
0:00 Gabriel Grovlez - Petites Litanies de Jésus
1:30 Frédéric Chopin - Prelude op. 28 no. 24 in D minor
2:33 Sergei Rachmaninoff - Études-Tableaux op. 39 no. 5 in E flat minor
4:53 Johann Sebastian Bach - French Suite no. 2 in C minor: III. Sarabande
6:05 Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Sonata no. 27 in E minor: II. Nicht zu geschwind und sehr singbar vorgetragen
7:52 Sergei Rachmaninoff - Prelude op. 32 no. 13 in D flat Major
11:58 Charles-Valentin Alkan - Grande Sonate "Les Quatre Âges", op. 33: III. 40 ans, Un heureux ménage
14:44 Charles-Valentin Alkan - Grande Sonate "Les Quatre Âges", op. 33: II. 30 ans, Quasi-Faust
18:18 Johannes Brahms - Piano concerto no. 2 in B flat Major, op. 83: III. Andante
20:29 Alexander Scriabin - Fantasy in B minor, op. 28
Now that I think about it, I really should've put the 3rd movement of Schumann's fantasy op. 17 on this list! Also maybe Chopin's etude op. 25 no. 7 and Debussy's Sunken Cathedral.
Oh the Scriabin makes me weep. I see why you saved it for the end!
Marc-Andre Hamelin described the Scriabin Fantasy as "to die for", absolutely beautiful
Indeed!
The Scriabin sounds a bit noisy and unmemorable…im not hearing any beauty in this piece; but it sounds hellishly difficult, which is exactly the kind of score that would appeal to someone like Marc-Andre Hamelin
The b minor fantasy is just great.
Really great.

Lovely selections!
Eyyy it's him!!
Thanks Eric - beautiful pieces!
Fantastic music! Love these pieces. ❤
the love you have for each piece really shines through! great playing with lots of little details, and i love the diversity of repertoire in this list as well :)
Wonderful! This list is my Top 10 Pieces I Wish I Could Play.
Wow, you are such a good pianist!! Alkan, Brahms and Scriabin are one of my favourite composers!
Bravo ❤
Excellent choix musical!
Quel talent ❤
Beautiful songs❤
Very niche/lesser known selection! Refined taste
Beautiful selection and performance. Well done !
Wow, two Alkan pieces (maybe one?) on the list!
You play very good!
Indeed.
Oh the Scriabin!
Am learning it, but recently I’ve also been interested in Mussorgsky pictures at an exhibition, and I’ll have to choose between one or the other for a recital
Either way, the Scriabin is a very beautiful piece, that part especially
Do you played scriabin pieces before? cos scriabin sthetic, style, sound is very unique. I learned all 24 preludes and im learning 12 etudes to play decently his sonatas and sure the fantasy, and understand him
@@estebanparedes3319 no this would actually be the first scrisbin I’ve learned, although I listened to his sonatas many times
You are a very talented and experienced young artist. Keep up !
ur so corny for typing like that
@@raphaelconcepcion863 Why ?
@@Dylonely42 Ok Let`s Type Like This Like I`m A Bot Ok ?
@@raphaelconcepcion863 What does it have to do with bot ? I am not getting you, sorry.
@@Dylonely42 yeah youre cringe cant bare to talk to you anymore
wow, amazing playing, i love your musicality and interpretational choices
Damn you play fantasy in B minor well!
The cello/piano solos in Brahms’ second piano concerto doesn’t let you indifferent…
danke
I love the 13th too
Liked for the scriabin
Third concerti da camera from alkan should be here too!!
My all-time fave: Debussy - Clair de lune
2nd place: R. Schumann - First Loss
Haven't played that one, unfortunately. Probably will one day!
What a delight to see Scriabin and Alkan in this selection… they are severely under-rated! I was listening to Alkan almost exclusively in 2009, and to Scriabin (also almost exclusively, to the point of obsession) in 2011.
By the way - sorry if the comment section is an inappropriate place to ask this question, but I could not find any contact information on your channel - do you take commissions? I am looking for a performer who would record a piece for a fee. Please send a personal message if you are interested. Yours sincerely, Andreï.
I am interested! I sent you an email with more details.
I was surprised to see Alkan here. Some of his compositions are definitely "interesting", but using word "beautiful" to describe his work wasn't really first on my mind :D
What about Concerto de Camera ?
what are those tapping sounds 😭
I think it was the piano bench and paper sounds (people in the audience had programs)
You should add Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring
Masterpiece
Andante Spiniato Polonaise is the bset

Beautiful pieces, but Rachmaninoff at least has even more beautiful pieces than those listed here.
I think you misread the title of his post, it's the most beautiful he's played, not the most beautiful...overall
0:37 in the triplet they played g twice? Bach lots different from score?
Chopin prelude a bit weak and smudged and Beethoven op27 2nd too fast. It even says in title not tii fast
But overall good
I dont think that Beethoven's too fast, it needs to be like that so you could get a nice, cantabile melody in the main voice. If you drag it too much it waters down, and the melody gets lost in my opinion.
Scriabin for the win 💯… could easily pick 9 other pieces for the other slots but #1 is fantasy B minor hands down that second theme is most gorgeous melody of all time and rest of piece is wonderful too
couldn't agree more, second theme is the most gorgeous melody ever written
Well the 10 most beautiful pieces I played are muuuuuch more gorgeous!!no comparison
Yeah, I was going to say...
most?
I wonder if Daniel Grimwood’s entire list would be Henselt. Just kidding
You should learn some chopin
I played like 9 Chopin pieces already lol
@@ericbouchard3745 and none of that 9 was not as beutiful to go for top tier?
@@francescpousbergada6795 I would've put etude op. 25 no. 12, but I've never recorded it.
Maybe it is time to stop reading Nietzsche, it is really not helpful.
How dare you!
@@tobiedavis8841 😂😂
What does Nietzsche has to do with this video
@@phoneminlwin5160The uploader wrote in his channel description that he likes Nietzsche
May i ask why such is your opinion?
Scarlatti not in the list, how it is possible?
I've never played any Scarlatti. I'm sure I will one day!
@@ericbouchard3745 ah ok, that is the reason ;-)
You have a lot of choice:-)
To be honest, his name doesn’t come in our minds when I read "most beautiful"…
@@Dylonely42 maybe because you do not know his compositions well. Some sonatas are real masterpieces.
@@Christian-uv6gs Any recommendations ?
Is this a joke? I mean, nice performances, but I guess you need to get out more. I could randomly select any 10 Chopin nocturnes and they would easily top every single piece on this list. And that's just from one composer, and just the nocturnes!
That’s your opinion. And this is the pieces THIS pianist has played and subjectively likes. I think it’s a solid list, yes there are more beautiful pieces out there, but not everyone can play anything
I dont think any chopin tops the Scriabin
@@Michael-hc5my Then he should have titled the video "my ten favorite piano pieces that I actually play." Or something like that.
@@duryi6399 That's personal preference, IMO no way (Scriabin is very, very nice but Chopin is often sublime), but I am not going to argue on this. It's one of the pieces, so fine. But my problem is with the list as a whole. It is ludicrous, given the available alternatives. This is not even arguable.
Can you shut up? Thanks!@@KRGruner
The pieces have been cut, destroyed!
The pianist is good, no doubt about it, but this idea of uploading small fragments of a same piece is outrageous, is but destoying good music.
A pity. Never back to this channel.
why do you have to leave a comment then? if you want to hear the full pieces then look them up and listen to them performed by world class pianists, i dont see why uploading small fragments of pieces is "outrageous" in any way, its just him simply showing which parts of the pieces he likes most. its a common thing to do to avoid viewers getting bored. the title of the video is "Top 10 most beautiful piano pieces I've ever played".
@@karrotkake Heretic, be gone!
