    Wow. Very helpful right to the point. Thank you. Question please, which plan of shopify do you use? Because my basic plan on shopify is not showing that much detail? Also do you know if i can use shopify offered shipping methods instead of putting a flat rate for foreign country?

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  Годину тому

      Shopify Markets is available on all plans, you will get 3 markets maximum included. As long as you are on a Shopify 2.0 theme you should see all options. For Shipping that will depend on if you have carrier-calculated rates and who your shipping provider is but, you can offer all the same options internationally as you would domestically. It doesn't have to be a flat rate.

    Hi! thanks for the video :) My main market is Colombia and I want to sell in USA. I find de following problems: 1. In de products and pricing tab (USA Market) I am unable to select any currency other than Colombian peso and it shows this message: Shopify Payments is required to manage currency. The thing is, Shopify Payments is not available in Colombia. What should I do? 2. When trying to customize pages for the USA market, this message comes up: This Liquid template can only be customized in the Default context. Customization in other contexts is only available with JSON templates. Does this mean that my current theme (Minimal) is not compatible with Markets? Do I need to change it? if so, how do I know which themes are compatible? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  9 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately, you will need Shopify payments to use the multi-currency features however you can use a currency converter to display the prices in USD for US customers but when they go to checkout it will show peso not USD. The only way around this would be to set up the store/business under a different country or currency that supports Shopify payments. You could look into creating an LLC in the US as a non-resident and have your primary currency as USD and then have Colombian peso available for Colombian customers. Check out www.firstbase.io/ for more info on setting up the US business. For your other error it may be that you don't have markets setup because of your currency issue so can't use this feature or it could be the theme, I haven't come across that error so would need to dig into it to know more.

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi there, are you referring to the dropdown for your customers to select their currency? That would change depending on your theme - most have an option to turn on the currency selector. If not, you can add it using the geolocation app.

    How do you manage stock levels in the different countries can the markets that have been created be locked to different collections or is there a way that you can manage it within the same product?

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  6 місяців тому

      By default when one location sells out Shopify will try and fulfil the product from another location. To restrict a market to using stock from a specific location you’ll need an app like ‘Multi-location Inventory’. When you use the app you can specific which location to fulfil from based on location and when there’s 0 in that location it will say sold out for the country associated with it.

    • @theindiecollab

    On the shopify basic plan, can we sell internationally? I heard that on the basic plan, there’s only 3 countries minimum that we can sell to

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes that’s correct, as of January Shopify introduced a max of 3 for Shopify basic. I suggest you combine countries if you need more than 3, for example if you’re selling to multiple countries in the EU, group them as Europe and add multiple domains so you’re only using one market.

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  4 місяці тому

      International would be anywhere that’s not listed under another market and you have a shipping rate available for. When you click on International, you’ll see a section called shipping. When you click on that it shows you what countries you do or don’t have rates for.
      You can’t duplicate markets

      It’s very hard to tell without seeing your settings. If you update default it should update everywhere unless you specifically made a change on UK which you don’t need to do if that’s your only market. When you only have one market, all changes should only ever be done on the default. Feel free to contact me via the website link on my channel.

    • @theindiecollab

      Hi there, you can only receive payouts in one currency unless you are on Shopify Advanced or Plus which allows two, so you'll receive your payout in USD but your customer will pay in their currency. Thanks for this video. I have a question. I am in South Africa but want to sell primarily to people in the USA. I will be doing POD and my supplier is in China. When I sign up with Shopify, do I just say I am in the USA? Or what should I do? It seems like things in Shopify is complicated. Isn't it better to run a WordPress website?

    • @theindiecollab
      @theindiecollab  10 місяців тому

      Shopify is made for e-commerce and is much easier to use than Wordpress in my opinion. No need to code and infinite options with apps and build in ecom features.
      To set up as a US account you’ll need a US bank account, social security number or EIN and address if you’re planning on selling with Stripe/Shopify payments. If you don’t have that set up in the US then you’ll need to create the account in your own country and then add US as a market.
      As a non-resident you can set up a business in the US to get an EIN, bank account etc if you’re serious about selling in the US, search FirstBase.io for a service to help you set this up. I’m not an accountant so can’t advise on your best option here.

      @@Summer-u2t it looks like Shopify Payments isn't available in SA yet so your best course of action is to set up the US business as a non-resident. It's very easy via First Base. Only stores with Shopify Payments as the primary gateway can process payments in a customer's local currency so you'll need it to allow customers to pay in USD. Holding USD and paying your dropshopper in USD is probably going to save conversion fees as well.
