If you’re interested in this video, you might be someone who enjoys Ubisoft games. You might also care about the people who make them. Without their hard work, these games don't exist - and in a toxic environment, they also become worse, something you might care about more depending on who you are. I recommend you follow that hashtag and these two Twitter accounts, run by an anonymous collective of Ubisoft devs and a collective of fans recognizing women both in-game and in the community. They’re the best ways to stay up to date on all the issues and current events going on with the company's steps toward addressing the standing allegations and issues.

A great example I have in regards to this video, is the Classic AC Parkour video you made. Your videos helped me A LOT to enjoy the series as a whole a lot more. Unity was always my favorite game but I used to crouch around and cover myself on every turn finishing a mission after 30 minutes or so because stealth has always been my preferred way to play these games. And you showed me how that process could be a lot more enjoyable by simply understanding the universal mechanics of these games. Now I'm uploading smooth gameplay videos myself and enjoying these games much more just because I discovered what my favorite playstyle is

Personally, i can say i’m glad that a lot of the core AC games before the rpg era are a lot more appreciated uploaded & talked about now, all those little nuances & play styles people find for themselves proves a lot of old opinions of AC wrong, it can be played differently & you can tell who’s playing just by watching, & if you come up with your own solutions to problems than needing to listen to content creators? you have ascended

I think my journey with AC really started with your Rogue Academy series on Unity, but your Ezio Trilogy Stealth Tips video was what really got me to start experimenting with these games. I found that while these games are relatively easy and accessible, there is a wealth of knowledge and complexity still left to be discovered. Hell, we’re still discovering new tech in the Ezio Trilogy, whether it’s Suppressed Fire or being able to assassinate horsemen from water in Brotherhood, I imagine that there are still many, many things out there that even the most dedicated of mentors don’t know about these games. And I love that. Your point about experimentation was very poignant to me because I had that exact same process: learning from older players, striking out on my own and then discovering new and interesting things that let me appreciate these games even more. Awesome video Leo, and thanks for everything!

This is the talk of a grown man :) Back in the day, I can imagine both you and I could probably rant about the "correct" way to play these games, but in the end as long as people can have games they enjoy playing (and AC has a wide range of those), then it's all that matters. Personally, I don't have the time to play games anymore, since I'm making one, and it helped me let go of all the possessive feelings I had about AC. So currently I'm very chill about it. Hope they'd make a decent Netflix AC show though.

Hey, Leo! No one deserves to be making this video more than you do. You've been an AC mentor for quite a long while now, and perhaps the most influential one, too. I only ever started to play AC games through your videos. Your channel is where I first saw ACU videos, and that's what got me hyped for the game. It was my first AC game and I was new to more or less a whole world. If not for your videos, I'd have not been able to play at all. I even quit at times, out of frustration.
But your videos comforted me like a little baby and guided me. Helped me learn. The wisdom you have acquired through all those years shows in every video. In fact, it's those words of advice that actually enabled me to play the game, now that I think of it. With time, I was able to understand the mechanics better, and optimise and strategise for myself. But that wouldn't have happened if I did not have a mentor as learned as yourself. You showed me how to adopt an aggressive stealthy playstyle. How to keep moving and maintain flow. How combat is THE mistake. How to best use tools and react to situations and plan in advance. I'm only able to play comfortably because of you, and for you I have only praise and admiration. Thank you for teaching me mechanics instead of holding my hand. Thanking you for inspiring me. Thank you for helping me cherish the assassin fantasy.

At last, the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed "Play As Fast As Possible." There's also a lot to be said for the way we've grown our own styles. In the case of Unity, I've come to describe the ideal mindset as confident rather than just fast, because that's what I find more engaging about its fantasy. Throwing smoke to deal with groups in Brotherhood may be more reliable and require less precise planning, but the way Kino abuses the lock on and chain kill mechanics is incredibly cinematic. This is a new era for us in which we each bring something unique to the table. That being said, we *do* still need you. While assembling our new comprehensive list of guides, I've found massive gaps in easily digestible knowledge regarding AC1 and Dishonored. Right now when people ask I usually recommend one on one tutoring, which is not very scalable. I know I've asked you about these before, but instructional content is really important for us right now

Yo, love this, Leo. Really vibed with the part talking about the sinergy between no-hud stealth reapers and the guides vids. There are different levels of knowledge and awe when you first see mastery gameplay of a videogame you barely control, and then you gradually understand what is being performed in the same video after you get the hand of the mechanics yourself, but still can find techs you never knew existed (for me, the punch-drop or the semi cover kills in AC-Rev recently). I can surely say that your videos and guides both inspired me to play with more intent in my own leisure, not needing to upload, but still feeling that tingling of "hey, I done something cool and seamless". Cheers

Assassin's Creed, as a franchise, has showed me many things that I was taught but chose to ignore when I was little. It showed me the importance of my ancestry and how I should appreciate it instead of blaming my own mishaps on my blood. Most of the difficulties I faced (and still do) with both my gameplay and real life stems from my impatience, and that I should keep calm especially under the pressure my situations have. To observe, stay focused, and execute my plans with confidence. I try to adapt to my surroundings in the events I do get detected or my mistakes lead me to that situation, but I sometimes fall into the urge to pause and select "Restart Memory" so I can complete my mission flawlessly.
I've recently come back into the fold after a year of disillusion, and I've begun playing Brotherhood once I realized I've already completed AC II. The new additions to the Animus 2.0, such as VR training, are perfect for helping me practice efficiency and button discipline. Although I'm not perfect, I still put in the effort to practice whenever I can. Thank you, Leo, for helping me realize that there's a lot more to my moveset, although limited. May the Lord smile upon your blade.

And doing all that made gameplay in each one feel fresh again

finding your videos was really the catalyst that got me to be really into assassin’s creed gameplay and see how dynamic it can be! i got into the series pretty recently and binged a lot of the games because i liked the stories/lore, but when i was playing them i was just fumbling my way through the gameplay and mechanics - i was doing fine up until i got to unity, where everything just completely threw me off and i had no idea what i was doing. your unity movement guide video was the first AC video i ever watched, and i’m eternally grateful that i found it, because i don’t think i would’ve ever finished unity if it weren’t for you! i started watching a lot of your videos after that, and they’ve all helped me appreciate the mechanics of all the games a lot more. i’m on syndicate now, and while i think this game overall is just easier than unity by a wide margin, i also think that watching your videos and getting a better understanding of what i can do in these games made this game 10x more fun and manageable than any game i played before this one. i was pretty certain i would never want to replay some of the older games that gave me trouble, but after seeing your videos, i’m actually looking forward to picking them up again once i’m done the whole series. i think now i could explore so many more options than the one-track mindset i had before. so thank you for all your hard work!!! ^__^

And about play the way you want, that's true. Doing aggro stealth killing everybody without any sound is badass, but to me an "Assassin" is just like that AC1 opening cutscene: striking from inside the crowd, disappear into the crowd. That's why my favorite missions are the one with a lot of NPCs like Danton's sacrifice or the food chain. Back in AC1 i sometimes attempted a "clean hit" where i try to avoid killing as many guards as possible, assassinate the target in high profile, and then run and blend with the monks.

Well Said Leo. As Someone who got inspired by your videos to make more gameplay content, The most important thing that anyone can do is to understand the basics and then use it to express themselves.
I am not particularly skilled, Hell I didn't even know I could be creative in my approach as it was never my strength, But I found that the more I found ways to solve the targets that I had set, The more engaged I was with the game itself. This series has something unique, as in it allows us to find our own path. When I first played the games, I rushed through them, I was interested in the story after all, and didn't really care about much else. But it was only after I slowed down, Looked around when I discovered that these games are much more than what they appear to be.

I know you haven't showcased much AC Origins on the channel compared to other games, but when I was doing a playthrough of it on Nightmare difficulty, I found myself starting to really hate it due to the perceived over-focus on a combat system that never truly clicked with me. I don't know if it's objectively badly designed or if I was just doing something wrong, but either way I felt like I was staring at Bayek's limp corpse more often than I felt like a cool assassin. I knew about the reputation of the Layla games having inferior stealth to Unity and Syndicate and I started to wonder if Origins simply wasn't for me.
Then I took your advice and started experimenting with the tools the game offered to me. Origins doesn't really have a "stealth" skill tree, but I looked more closely for the first time at the Seer tree and the gadget-based playstyle it offered.
I made two discoveries through experimentation that finally allowed the game to click: the fact that an enemy hit with a sleep dart is vulnerable to a hidden blade strike even if you're in open combat, and the interaction between sleep darts and fire that puts all enemies to sleep in an AoE, which can be combined with the fire grenade tool to activate it anywhere, even in the absence of a campfire or torch in the world. With those alternatives allowing me to avoid the open combat, and by focusing all my resource upgrades on the hidden blade above everything else, I was able to play Origins as an almost completely STEALTH-focused game. Even the damage sponge giant bosses that wouldn't go down to an assassination could be handled with a process of hidden blade->adrenaline strike->sleep dart->disengage ->hide - >repeat. My ability to stay undetected improved through practice, and with the issues of the core gameplay loop resolved I was able to fully enjoy the game's incredible world design as I traveled the open world and took down each camp, tomb, and side quest with lethal joy. I ended up completing every location on the map, including both DLCs. And since I beat all the pharaohs, I guess I did eventually get proficient enough at open combat too.
That was a long-winded anecdote to just say thanks for the videos. Your direct guides for controls and techniques are very helpful, but I think the philosophy that can be applied to any game is honestly even more invaluable.

That is what makes the classic AC so beautiful and also the Far Cry Franchise. They are easy to learn but hard to master. Pretty much anyone can play through the campaign but you can do way cooler things when you dive in deeper. It is for everyone, casuals can do their one time playthrough and left the game and enthusiasts have a lot variety and things to learn about movement, stealth and combat.
I hate it when people (often times big review medias) say that this games are too easy. Not every game has to be a hardcore experience. Games are made to be fun and not to be hard or frustrating.
I playd AC a lot before and I knew a lot of things before I watched your guides and videos but I still learned a lot and my own knowledge combined with yours made me a better player and enjoy gaming even more. Not only in AC but my gaming experience overall.
And yeah, like the most folks in the comment section here, I am also someone who does not really enjoy the new Era and that is crazy, because I love RPG's in general. It just feels misplaced in the AC franchise and I am sad about it, becaus imo it would've been possibly to revive the franchise by building on its fundamentals that being: Stealth, parcour and narrative instead of just copying stuff from other franchises. Classic AC was innovative and Unique and now it just feels generic for me: comabt and loot, thats pretty much it.
But NFT's and Live Service are Ubisofts policy now....
    stay sneaky.

Through your videos, now I'm able to complete missions such as Hoarders with relative ease and efficiency. Your knowledge, guidance, and calm demeanor in delivering information ushered in a Renaissance for my love and appreciation of all AC titles, especially Unity and AC1. the struggle against my obssessive compulsive disorder and assassins creed is very tied together for me. i had OCD back when i started watching these well crafted videos of ghost and stealth runs by people like stealthgamer, swiftly unknown, and you. what i didn't know at the time, was the ammount of repetition and hours dedicated to perfecting a level, and knowing every detail of a stealth playground. my compulsion and perfectionism not only destroyed my enjoyment for the game, but also affected me in real life. i spent months of my life playing games and levels over and over again, specially ac unity, torturing myself with the game's faulty detection system, trying to do things 'perfectly', and when i did i was so frustrated it didn't bring me any enjoyment anymore.
as i began to treat my OCD i still had a problem with stealth games, until i played the ezio trilogy on the ps4. there was no restart from checkpoint buttom! with this mechanic removed, the three games where like a rite of passage for me. i realized repetition made me sick. i realized my stealth was good enough, and the thrill of trying to not be caught and at the same time, the continuity of running away and approaching the encounter from another angle gave me back the pleasure of AC again. it brought me closer to the story, made it feel like my life was at risk with every assassination, instead of mindlessly repeating the same thing for hours on end.
i promised myself to never reset an ac game due to failing on stealth, or at least as much as possible. my path of understanding how i experienced assassins creed is part of me getting to know myself better, and doing what i wanted free of compulsion. i was finally free. this is by no means an attack on other playstyles, like you said, and i still appreciate the beauty of what you and others do, and it has helped me improve my game greatly. but in real life and in the game, i found my own path, i loved to improvise stealth, and now when i look back i am glad the game allowed me to grow, and that is the value of assassins creed to me.

Funny you should upload this video and talk about how you have worked with this game, creating these guides and videos that contributed to making these games cool again, and yet you still encourage and inspire experimenting. I discovered your channel about more than a year ago and binge watched your Unity Content. It made me see the game as something with more potential than I remembered. After playing it for the second time, after watching your videos, not only was I so hooked, I 100% the game. I started experimenting, I found my own ways to play it and now I do videos on AC Unity and Syndicate where I showcase some of my favourite things about these games, such as the underrated Social Stealth. The ability to express yourself through Social Stealth mechanics in these 2 games, mostly Unity however, is incredible, something I would not expect as Unity is always showcased as a fast paced stealth game, but if you take it slow, use the crowds given to you, immerse yourself into Paris, you find an entirely different experience. This is exactly what you "preach" in this video, for us to play any game as we want, to discover and experiment. My way is the Social Stealth and even though shallow in comparison to some other games, it is still satisfying and impressive how much you can do with a shallow system. Thank you Leo K. You have truly done something great for the community and this just amplifies it.

Your videos made me went back to AC Rogue. I mean it kinda made sense because I had completed Blackflag a month before, but I've always felt like Rogue is the "most complete" gameplay wise for the kenway trilogy.
If only the game allowed you to use sword and dagger separately in Rogue, it would kinda make the combat more fun.
Not only that, if the story was at least 2-3 sequence longer and there were more stories before Shay ending up in Paris and how he lost most of his weapons going there... It would probably be up there on my top 4 AC games.

    • @LeoKRogue

Awesome! Glad you've been enjoying it, it's a pretty unique game overall. It has a singularly cold and lonely atmosphere, I find, because despite working with the Templars, Shay never really feels like "one of them" until the end, for me. Because of that the entire game has this odd sense of isolation that I haven't really felt since AC1. Unity has a bit of it too, I guess.

Just figured out that poison darts in AC 3 are very powerful, similar to Unity's berserk blades you talked about. The game never tells you about them, but I'm pretty sure they are the most effective stealth tool, because they delete detection and disable any enemy, while the bow doesn't kill the stronger npcs if you don't headshot.

I see what you're trying to do, but the answer here is Yes And No. If you can make it work and enjoy it, by all means - have fun!
Factually though, it heavily depends on the amount of enemies you're fighting and will break apart sooner than any other. Compare against Ghost of Tsushima on the hardest difficulty for example, where combat is both more challenging and more fair, and doesn't crumble with too many foes in play. Other than that, absolutely!

Thanks! Regarding my profile picture, the way I got that was by paying/commissioning an artist to specifically draw it for me, so I never really looked for many online myself, to be honest. I agree completely.
I'm open to being proven wrong, I'd actually like that more than anything, but with modern Ubisoft, it's very much "Guilty until proven innocent." _Assume_ they'll screw it up, until the moment they don't. I've been burned one time too many to approach it any other way. Ubisoft are a company who are _masters_ of "too good to be true."
They will say anything you want to hear just to get your hopes up, their PR machine is unparalleled in its efficiency at playing on long-term fans' emotions and making us believe something amazing is coming. This is their specialty. This is what they're best at.
What I'd say to anyone who's excited for that game for more than a few minutes after first learning about it is; Just be careful.

I mean Darby did the best he can to deliver that old AC experience through his quality writing but unfortunately he can only do so much due to the creative decision on these games and I honestly believe he can do so much better. Still, I'll give credit where credit is due.
