  • My wife, being a better and ultimately more perceptive person than me, got me a SansAmp for Father's Day! In this video I explore the pedal and try out some of the various modes on offer.
Apologies in advance for the terrible demo, I suck! I suppose I should have mentioned that up front...luckily for all of us, the pedal itself is a monster and well worth a listen!

Good demo of the GT2. Although you can run these in an amp, they were really designed for straight into a mixer or audio interface for recording. In my opinion it is in this context they sound best. Properly mixed with some ambience effects they do a great job. Most could not tell that it is not amps they are listening to in context of music. Thanks for demoing the GT2 direct.

Hello John, really helpful your video.. finally, i found a video which shows how versatile this pedal is...definetly, this stompbox suits to any genre, from Blues, classic rock, hard rock, heavy, southern rock, and of course metal..greetings

Your pedal setup there is basically a fly rig 😂. Good demo. Have you tried the other amps with low drive levels? … can get different cleans on my Trademark 10

I hear that the clean tones of the Sansamp aren't so great so I would have liked to hear more clean tones.

Does this pedal works as a preamp/DI? I'm looking for a better alternative to the behringer v-tone DI21

Not really; it is more of an amp emulator. It does not have a balanced output, which is a typical feature of most instrument DIs. That said, you can use this is a pre-amp to go directly into a mixing board or live PA with good results, as long as the output cable doesn't exceed 35' or so.

@hp violin The Behringer V-Tone DI21 is a clone of the GT2. You will get plenty more quality with the tech21, but probably all the same sounds.

@@nick.raptis thanks for the reply. My only concern is that the GT2 doesn't have a balance xlr output, which makes it easier I guess to connect to the front of the house or a mixer.

I want a tech 21 Q strip to pair with my GT2… it has XLR out and lots of EQ options

but what are you plugging everything into? I just got one of these, plugged it into my blues jr, sounds like CRAP.

In this video, I am going into my audio interface to record on my computer. I've had so-so results using the SansAmp with an amplifier, it definitely isn't my favorite setup.

@@johnnynebraska68 Thanks, I've tried one of those interfaces and my computer is pretty good but the delay was so bad, I returned it. I wonder if I should return this pedal, because I don't have a pa system, I have a big stereo.. but I don't preform, never will.. I just wanted to achieve a metal tone and I'm pretty sure at this point a blues jr can't put out heavy driven anything without it sounding like nasally mud. Any recommendations would be ideal. I almost feel like selling the blues jr.. but I really do like it for what it is.

@@danielbrowniel plug into effects loop, also use classic mic for amp

@@danielbrowniel with a sansamp you won't get delay because you should be direct monitoring the signal. Though having said this if you configure software correctly the delay is close to zero.

You have to make sure your amp is set flat. I've had the GT2 for 25 years. An amp with no character actually works better. Turn the mids all the way up the treble and bass all the way down and start from there.
