Holding my husbands hand through his cancer journey till passing away. This song is like a prayer, a wish to be held by something bigger, a yearning for something to see us through "all the hard things we've all gotta do"
We’re here for you, love. There are people out there that know the pain you’re experiencing. You are so brave. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Blessings to you and your family. ❤
Hihetetlen, hogy 2024 van, és most 72 éves vagyok, és csak most hallottam ezt először. És én is teljesen megszállottan, ismétlődően hallgatom a lejátszási listámról.
I played this song on repeat as I laboured, waiting for my little girl to be born. Still can't listen to this song without weeping, reminiscing over the anticipation of meeting our baby and holding her for the first time. This song will always have a special place in my heart.
I rarely use the overused word, but this man is a musical genius. I’m a 40 year, 71 yr old songwriter and this man inspires something in me, only few have ever .
I'm lost in the light I pray for the night To take me, to take you too After so many words Still nothing's heard Don't know what we should do So if someone can see me now, let them see you It was my greatest thrill But we just stood still You let me hold your hand 'til I had my fill Even countin' sheep Don't help me sleep I just toss and turn right there beside you So if someone could help me now, they'd help you too. They'd help you too See you through All the hard things we've all gotta do Cause this life is long And so you wouldn't be wrong Bein' free leavin' me on my own! I must’ve been on some heavy duty medication, because when I read that entry from 2021, I don’t ever remember, hearing this song before. But I did because I wrote about it.
This is such a great song. It shuffled on my iPod while on a drive to to beach, and as cheesy as it sounds, it was just an amazing experience with the slow rhythm and the wind on my face and just wow
Not cheesy at all, Darby. Just one of life's little special moments for you. We all need them. Sometimes the smallest moments create the biggest memories. : )
That's exactly how I found this song.. jukebox in a bar in Newport Beach, California dancing with a stranger on the shore. I never saw her again but like this song will never forget this dance.
I lost my best friend and roommate of 25 years. I have this song on repeat. So many emotions. My friend and I had each other and we didn't really have anyone else. Now he's gone and I'm alone. This song is helping me in ways that I don't understand. Thank you Bahamas.
Love the song and this share of your idea of dancing under the stars listening to this song with the love of your life. The love of my life was with me for 41 years and has now been gone for 14 years. 😢 Thanks to you and Bahamas for helping me stir up my beautiful memories! 😊
Saw Bahamas for the second time Saturday night. I am old dude don't listen to much music totally jaded I'll admit it. This song makes me cry - best song I have heard in at least 20 years. This guy is simply amazing not sure how you get to be a big artist in this day and age but trust me Afie will be huge.
Found this song thru an Amy Schumer movie on Hulu. It was the closing song for an episode. Because I didn’t hear it all, I searched on UA-cam. It was his sweet voice, the pace of the music, the languid guitar that drew me in. Beautiful!
I've been watching the whole series for the first time. I *have* to go searching for the music after most episodes. This show has such depth, and it resonates long after the script ends... 🎧📻🎼📺❤️
This song is a pure gift to those who’ve lost love. It catalysed an outpouring of buried emotions in me. The words of my soul right now. Truly beautiful.
I forgot this song existed. I used to listen to it on these long walks I would go on before I left NH for college in FL. Now I'm still in FL. I'm not exactly in love with either state but I definitely took NH for granted. The life I had there for granted. I didn't realize that till my last night. Now that house is sold and I long for those walks again.
I Have missed your voice, your face, that cheeky smile of your that lights up my day!! Makes my knees weak. You feel like home... like that sweet Petrichor. I hope you like the song... brings me memories of things yet to come! Like my head on your chest your arms around me while we wait in the middle of kitchen for the coffee machine.
I love that little shake he does at 1:54 - its on my list of warm things like hazelnut coffee and fresh-out-of-the-laundry-socks. The overall tenderness of this song is so attractive; at 3:18, that face is a portrait of all the unbearable lightness of leaving and being left behind, a stare going far deeper than the previous shot of the eternal cosmic space. Oh this is so very nice, and so very tender.
When I first heard this song I was so awestruck/baffled. This is the ending to my last relationship to the T. Unreal. Thank you Bahamas for your poetry and experience ❤ straight to my heart strings
I remember being lucky enough to see this guy with a crowd of 15 people 4 years ago as an opening act on Easter night. You could tell there was something special about the guy.
I heard this song on some random documentry about living on a small sailboat, I no longer wanna go sailing, I want to go to as many Bahamas concerts to hear this song.
I have Alexa play "sleepy time music" for my birds every night for an hour before bed to help them wind down (sounds silly when I say it out loud, haha) but I'm glad I did because this song plays every night and I absolutely love it, something about it warms my heart ❤️
Why is this song so addictive? Is it the calm of waves gently rolling on the beach, the sound of angels, the slow, steady beat of my heart, the timeless, soulful sound? Then there's the actual lyrics. Wow.
There is a handful of songs in this world that just speak to your soul, this is one. I heard it in the movie Very Good Girls I believe. This song is wonderful.☺️ Thank you. 💕

My kids father I just separated from in June passed away today from complications from a brain tumor and he asked me to play this at his funeral. He sent this to me 5 days ago and I’m just listening to it… how am I going to tell our kids 😭😭😭
I have been divorced for many years but recently had a dream of my children’s dad dying, I was devastated in my dream, just gutted. I can’t imagine what it’s like losing your parenting counterpart. I don’t know how old your children are but share the music he loved with them, music speaks volumes and as far as lyrics, don’t over analyzes. I hope you find some peace and your children have healing from their father’s death 🙏🏼
@ it’s been absolutely gut wrenching.. they’re 4, 5 & 6 and I hope they can actually remember him, and not by the stories I tell and the photos.. it’s been 2 weeks and it still feels like I was just told what happened.. the backlash I’ve gotten from some of his friends and family hasn’t been helping either.. I left him so why am I grieving so badly for him. He’s the love of my life and we had no idea that a brain tumor is what caused his behavioral switch. No other symptoms until 2 months after I left.. if only I could have held on a little while longer but my children’s safety was more important than what I was feeling and none of his friends or family know what was truly happening.. I love him with everything I have. I hope he knew that
Its a shame this song is so popular and all of their other work doesn't get recognition. This song is phenomenal, which shows you how good their other stuff must be.

To take me, to take you too
After so many words
Still nothing's heard
Don't know what we should do
So if someone can see me now, let them see you
It was my greatest thrill

Cause this life is long
And so you wouldn't be wrong
Bein' free leavin' me on my own!
And I held my own
Still I rattled your bones
I said some awful things and I take them back
If we would try again
Just remember when
Before we were lovers, I swear we were friends
So if someone could see me now let them see you
Let them see you
See you through
All the hard things we've both gotta do
Cause this life is long
So you wouldn't be wrong
Bein' free here with me on my own!
