    A river, creek or lake is a big key in the summer. But a little ac at night is awesome too lol.

      @BakerOverland  Місяць тому

      Ain’t nothin’ like a cold dip in the river to cool off! AC isn’t as important as swimming imo.

    We camp at higher elevations during the summer. Drive in the heat and camp up high.

      Smart. I got as taste of that this year and definitely loved it.

      I agree elevation works in some states but Arkansas not so much?

    Will is right about you having the best videos. The cinematography/edit/storytelling is second to none. I have no doubt that if you had more time and money to really branch out more around the country then your channel would probably have a million followers. Being from the midwest and having a family with small children really makes it hard to put out tons of variable new content. Keep up the great work though.

      Thank you Kristen! Will is a huge inspiration to me and my channel. I would love to travel more. Maybe someday that’ll happen.

    Awesome video. Arizona camper here, a couple things I would add:
    -Shade! Maybe less helpful somewhere like Arkansas, but in dry western states, the difference between being out in the sun versus tucked up in shade can make all the difference between suffering and relative comfort. Its a bit of a bougie suggestion, but I use the kammok crosswing awning, because I can put it up in seconds, I'm more likely to throw it up for quick breaks and lunches, and not just when in camp
    -If conditions allow, cowboy camp. I sleep inside my car, but whether you're on an internal platform or in an RTT, the enclosure is going to trap some heat and prevent radiant heat loss. I use a paco pad as my mattress specifically because they are relatively indestructible, and on truly warm nights I can pull the entire bed out of the car and sleep under the stars.

    This was fun. We want a portable ac but right now we use box fan, go swimming, wear light clothing, and cold water and or beverages

    The cool thing about overlanding is you can migrate to areas where it’s not as hot and humid.

    One interesting things that I learned when I was in some warmer climates is to actually drink warm beverages. I know that seems counterintuitive but when you drink something cold your body has to expend energy to warm it up which can heat you up. Now if you are sweating and dripping sweat, then moving air is crucial to help your body evaporate sweat and regulate your temperature.

      I never thought about that. That's a good tip for sure.

    Good stuff, for us its go more NORTH or out west into the higher elevations lol lets face it, summer is not ideal when the humidity and temps are high but it still beats sitting home

    Those dang horse flys are outrageous right now. I use a dewalt fan and an icybreeze that’s not that great but works. Would love to invest in a zero breeze when the budget allows it someday.

    Cool tips but I don't think I will camp in the summer especially here in Florida. We tried a couple times and it was completely miserable because of the humidity day and night and the mosquitoes and bugs. Sitting in water in Florida isn't the best option either because of alligators, snakes and whatever else that can bite.
    I would be more inclined to camp in the mountains in the summer though.

    • @BakerOverland
      @BakerOverland  Місяць тому +1

      Florida summers are a whole different beast. You’re wise to avoid them! Come hang with me in the Ozarks! Still hot and humid but less gators. 😎
