I honestly think this is one of the best scenes in the whole show. The conversation between Ricky and Gina is what I’m talking about. It actually made me so emotional.
Probably the best still tbh. Most scenes between them I can see their temperaments mesh so well together. I can actually analyze why their encouragement and criticism is healthy. Well until S2, but I ain’t going to spoil lol.

i feel like people really downplay ricky's whole struggle with change and how much it dictates his life. he had a whole breakdown the episode before cause he saw his mom's new bf (she's completely in the wrong for this) but then with ginas help he went back to the gym to at least see the end of the musical and ended up getting back with nini, the one person who made him feel like he was still in that safe unchanged zone (and that's not good). he held onto nini until the very last second because everything else in his life was changing and he was scared of it. they were holding each other back and im so glad they vocalized it because people have been saying this since the s1 finale but no one believed us. but then with gina they both help each other and understand each other, yet i still see so many of the "he doesn't deserve her" posts that are always harshly judging a mentally unhealthy kid. ricky never intended to hurt gina and the boy was way too focused on nini and making their relationship work to even think about his feelings for gina. and accepting his feelings for gina means accepting change and he's just starting to deal with that.

I’m a huge rina fan but this last episode has me confused on if Ricky even liked/likes Gina because how could she give that speech and he still choose nini and act like that conversation never actually happened.
I feel like Ricky doesn’t handle change well so he got back together with Nini because being with her feels like how life used to be. I do think that maybe he should focus on himself rather than pursue a relationship with Nini or even Gina.
At this point, I don't think Ricky deserves either girls because regardless of whether or not he wanted to talk about Gina's feelings after this, it was incredible insensitive of him to proceed to go to Gina for advice about his relationship with Nini. And I don't know about you but at this point Gina is too strong of a character for Ricky who continues to prove that he would much rather run away than anything else and not to mention that after that confession, if he does have actual feelings for Gina, he is choosing to lead Nini on and if he doesn't have feelings for Gina, then he is choosing to lead Gina on. And people are always talking about the problems he is facing at home and I am obviously not going to pretend that I know what he is going through but at the same all of that doesn't excuse how he is treating both girls.
Aside from his abandonment issues and fear of change, I think ricky also could’ve misunderstood what gina was saying. “I wouldn’t quit on us” is rather vague he could have thought that the “us” meant the whole drama club or smth plus he’s a high school boy

I can see how this is awkward. At the time of her Confession, Gina is fully expecting to never see Ricky again. (As she has to fly back to wherever they moved to. It's after the play that Ashlyn has the idea to let Gina stay with her) Still..it's INCREDIBLY insensitive for Ricky to keep throwing Nini in her face after this confession though. I'm a RINA fan so I hope they get it together
They did indeed get it together. Still I hope they address that. Ricky should clarify when his feelings for Gina started changing because he was totally uninterested in her all through s2, so his attraction to her in s3 came out of nowhere and seemed to stem from a fear of being single. He went from Nini to Lily to Gina like lightning. I don’t doubt the depth of Ricky and Gina’s connection - I do think they should be together - but Ricky needs to apologize to Gina for his insensitive behavior toward her in s2. When they said “let’s start over” in s3, it didn’t really heal anything partly because the writers were absurd enough to write the scene as if Gina’s innocent misunderstanding about the chocolates was the worst thing that happened between them when it was nothing compared to how hurt he made her feel when he was fully aware of her feelings and still led her on (i.e., “let’s say we were dating”)
@@12classics39 I agree. Season 2 Ricky was trying to be a good bf to Nini (as he should!) Him and Gina werent expecting to see each other after her confession so it was always gonna be awkward with them. He definitely got it all back in Season 3 lol
@@12classics39did we watch the same show? Ricky was def interested in Gina in s2. He had unresolved feelings for her. The only reason why he’s with Nini is bc gina “moved away”. They would have gotten together. In episode 5-7 his focus was mainly on Gina and them getting closer. Even in season 2 he tried to make their friendship less rocky. On the episode with the new years, he took way more than a few glances at Gina. Like her acknowledging him was more important than NiNi. And it was big red who ran the whole NiNi thing by her. Ricky knew it’d be uncomfy for her and said sorry on big redds behalf. When he ran that scenario with gina himself, he did cross boundaries, and brought up pain. But he also tried to explain himself and apologize. Gina is pretty passive aggressive and doesn’t like to talk about her feelings much, i get it tho, moving a lot.
