I just want to say Peter , after going through skin and lung cancer ,a broken back and having two disk fused together through my throat all in the last 5 years , it was you and that Rick bloke who inspired me to play golf again. I’m not great and I can’t bomb it like you can but thanks to you , I’m loving going and having a bash. Thanks again and love the content and banter ✌️
"That Rick bloke" hilarious lol
I’m only 5 minutes from Fleetwood. To know I could duff my shots into the same bunkers is an honour
😂
So funny! 😂
I watched the game with Padraig Harrington and thought his advice was spot on as far as you are concerned. You beat yourself up far too much and attempt to play with a ‘bad attitude’ when you do. You are a lovely man and we are all cheering you on. Cut yourself some slack. You are making a living doing something most of us would cut off a leg for and most of the time you at a level most of us would cut the other leg off for. Enjoy each and every moment. Good luck for the future.
What are you on about? His attitude is fantastic.
@@Eat-MyGoal he can get very down on himself trying to be too perfect I agree with Paddy opinion too,
Amen to this. I understand they are as human as us, and its hard to grasp how lucky they are themself. But its really something they have to say every morning and night. They are so so lucky.
@@Eat-MyGoal the attitude I refer to is when Pete beats himself up each time he makes a mistake and allows that to impact on the following holes. Harrington made the point that no one should be so arrogant to believe they can play with such an attitude and that he needs to learn to let it go.
@@Eat-MyGoal Watch Peter's video with Padraig Harrington, it'll make more sense...
Peter, I am going to be here saying this until you get through qualifying. Don't forget to have fun!! You are blessed with the ability to play a game for a living and I know you are a professional but enjoy the grass and the sky and the wind and all the beauty that comes from this great game we play. Your mind will put itself where you need it. Keep pushing forward mate.
Beautifully put 👍🏌🏼♂️
I agree. It's kind of disheartening to watch him have fun on videos and even competitive challenges then get into a tournament and tuns into what's expected if you're on TV or something with the posing and head shaking and over the top body language. I feel like he's trying to do what's "expected" instead of just playing his game.
That intro unlocks so many top gear memories for me
Just needed that kick into Jessica
i was coming here to say the same thing
It's insane how much your videos and golf have changed and improved over the last 4 years I've been watching you. Can't wait for more years of great golf content
Imagine what he’d do with a caddy. He’d play his average closer to his best golf and I’m sure gouge 5 shots out of his blowouts.
Finchy really just out working everyone right now. Huge 300k+ videos, great guests and great colabs. Mixing it up and not afraid to do something different. This is what happens when you outwork everyone. That includes the big fella from manny, the 3 big dogs at bds and the American kids. 💪
Peter! You have really stepped up your content the last 6 months. It's been really great. Some of the other "OG" youtube creators have not and are getting stale. If anything, you are keeping up with or surpassing the younger/newer creators. I re-subscribed a bit ago and now am looking forward to each new post!
This honesty with the bad play is actually gold Pete. It's so easy to let your thoughts and emotions get a grip, but the more you do this kind of competition, the more you get used to it. Paddy thinks you're good enough, we all do, it's just that you need to believe it too :). Great real comp content!
I think what this video does a great job showing, is how much golf is the mental game. It’s very clear Peter is a great golfer, but when he gets into his own head, his game suffers.
Loved the video, Peter.
It’s incredible how you bring us subscribers along for the ride Pete. I feel like I play every shot, suffer every disappointment and celebrate every great shot with you. Testament to how you and the boys get us the audience fully involved in the videos. I’m only half way through this one and that’s how I feel.
I’ve seen all of QFTO videos from seasons past. Mate I wish you all the luck with this years effort. Come on Pete you’ve got this, The Myrtle Beach comp proves it’s in the locker!!
Pete, without doubt, you have the best golf channel on UA-cam. You have assembled a great team to help you with creating some excellent content however, it wouldn't be as good as it is without you playing some great quality golf. Seriously, you have performed at a level others can only dream of but you are also too notch in front of camera, great humour and remain positive when things don't go as planned.
I injured my sciatic nerve during a practice session. I kept letting it rest but playing golf. It put me out for a year. Back in December, I woke up unable to walk and in the most pain of my life. Today, I was cleared to hit my full bag and ease my way back into golf. Here’s to breaking 80 this year!
Wow what a vote of confidence that is from Padraig. We all agree with him. Go for it 👍
And get a caddy to train that mindset and make the right decisions.
Golf aside, the quality of the video is outstanding. This video is every bit as good as anything seen on Golf Channel.
Press on Pete! Quitting becomes a habit and (other than for injury) there is nothing to gain! We will continue to play golf through the good and the bad. For that is the essence of golf itself.
Pete, you have gone head to head with some of the best golfers in the world. Golfing under the scrutiny of a golf legend is more difficult that a tourney vs, randos….
Also, the difference was literally 2 holes! It may have felt bad but it came down to performance on 2 holes.
Welcome to my world Peter. Being a member of Fleetwood golf club for nearly 20years, I've played in all sorts of weather. (Just wait till the tide comes over the wall). The quality of the video has shown the course off in a really good light. Thank you for that...
Well done on not walking in and battling through. Fleetwood is a great little track that I have played many times and when the weather is bad it’s biblical. It’s fantastic that you are sponsoring this series and putting your neck on the line playing in these events, you’re the man to be shot at. Keep it up.
Thank you for bringing the viewers along your journey in golf! Great video!
This was like watching the British open as I did over two decades ago. The video/sound clarity was reminiscent of getting up and watching the "open" at 6:00am PST. I love the rain, sound, video production, et al, really ASMR responses for me. Bless you Peter, keep forging forward and God bless you!
You are an inspiration, Pete. Youre attempting to do something unbelievably, viciously difficult, and your approach to taking on such a challenge is a wonderful example for us all. I couldnt be rooting for you any harder. Cheers!
I say it again ... the editing on these QFTO Vids is off the charts good
I sympathise with you completely today Pete. I had an open this morning and was 15 over through the front 9. Yesterday’s casual round was 5 over for the whole round to put things in to perspective. Mental game is so important for golf and without a doubt the hardest hurdle to get over
Great video. Well done production team. To have that result in those conditions and to have the pressures of filming as well. Brilliant! 👏
You have inspired me many times. Remember look for and take the positive on every shot , dump the negative. As Padraig Harrington says, stop beating yourself up. Padraig won a new fan in me. He was such a joy to watch and imparted such sage advice in your video. You have all the golf skills needed to win and again remember, as Padraig said, you are a great ball striker. PS. I enjoy your interaction with your staff. You work so well together and have created a great site.
Kudos to you for keeping going Pete. Strong heart. Well done
Good man for being so honest about it all. Golf is a head scrambler at the best of times. Good luck, keep going.
Thanks for the video and honesty. Shows that golf is hard and that you do need to give yourself a break when it doesn't go well. Keep going
Absolutely loving this series
Golf is hard man some days you are on some days are not. Love to hear your thoughts. Easier said than done is truth in golf! Keep it up brother we are here for you no matter the results!
Awesome again, I am quite enjoying seeing more competition Pete, and the change in approach to the game. Love it
Love this series Pete. It’s great getting an insight into your journey and your growth as a player. Other then the cpl hole meltdown you had an outstanding round for those conditions. Keep up the great work man. We are all rooting you on.
Three years ago at the tender age of 57 my piriformis had a similar melt down , ironically it was about the time I took up golf for the first time in my life.... my back has never been better. My doctor put it down to incorrect posture when sitting and driving long distances....
I know that pain.... It will pass...
GOOD LUCK WITH THE QUEST !!!
You will smash it !!!!!
Pete I really felt this. That looked brutal! Could feel the weather thru the screen. Well done for finishing positively. Keep going we're all rooting for you
Honestly Peter we all have these days, but the easy way out is to quit! To grind through them and maybe take away a bit of knowledge for the next time. Peter you have an incredible golf game that a lot of us want! Keep your chin up!! There’s always the next round that could be the best golf you have ever played. Love the vids Peter!!
I love the raw, emotional honesty in these videos Peter - you're clearly super passionate about your goal here and it's so great to see that! You also need to take your own advice from when you were playing the Bryan Bros - can you change what's just happened? No! Is being angry going to positively impact your game? No! Keep that in mind and you'll smash the qualifying events!!
Great thing to do sponsorship and support the local PGA. Really enjoy this type of vlog similar to when you and Rick started UA-cam. Thanks Pete.
Thanks for sharing. Competitive golf is Crazy hard and Stressful is an understatement. You'll get it. Stay in the moment, preparation will save you! Remember SMILE 😆
Another unbelievably good video. Love the mix, having these anxious, adrenaline filled rounds and of course I can’t stop smiling and giggling with every “whack!” that drops in as casually and perfectly as a Wilhelm scream.
As a Brit that moved to San Diego, CA about 16 years ago I honestly don't think I could play Links golf courses again! The golf courses of SoCal like Torrey Pines, Aviara and La Costa with blue skies are a completely different ball game. Hats off to you, Pete!
showing the line and your angle of the shot tracer makes this a joy to watch. When your ball goes right or left, talk us through what you did wrong and what you are going to do to correct it. Like Padraig when he did a swing routine to correct a hook 🙂. Good luck on your journey to the Claret Jug!!
Quality video guys. Keep going Pete.
You have the skills and you have the talent… that is unquestionable. You just gotta stay out of your own head. Golf is hard… after all, I’m still trying to break 80. It isn’t chess, you can’t think too far ahead. Take a deep breath, loosen up, relax and take one shot at a time. Hit a bad shot, forget about it and move on…can’t change the past. You got this! We are all enjoying your content. Thanks for putting yourself out there. Best of luck moving forward.
Thank you for sharing this it hit home
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.. We're pulling for you bro!
Loving your content and colabs Pete. You've got an engaging manner and a very solid game if you'd stop not believing it! Great video
Really enjoying your videos and whomever is advising you on content and audience engagement is doing a fine job. Loved the commentary on this one. 👍
Glad to see Pete sticking it out and getting back into competition. Don’t give up! This is your year.
I’ve been a sideline watcher of your content for a while now. After seeing you put yourself out there and publishing the good and the bad I felt I owed you one more subscriber. Keep up the great work.
Pete, absolutely love the editing of your videos recently, story telling and pace are on point, loving it all. Keep it up pal
Played Fleetwood on a sunny calm day and it’s an absolute joy.
Also played it when it’s completely the opposite and it can be brutal.
Oh my god Pete that was like army golf I felt your pain .. my head would have been buried a bunker ..well done you are a winner in my eyes ❤
Petes content recently has been top level! Best golfing youtuber currently
The music from the 30 minute mark is absolutely rocking. Let's have some more of that, add some face melting guitar solo; that would be epic!
Handicap of 10.8 and played yesterday. Was going great until a nightmare on the 13th - 5 off the tee and finished with a 9. In the past I would've chucked it but remembered Padraig's words to you about mentality and not beating ourselves up. So glad I did as I played the 14th-18th 1 under par and finished with a 79. Keep going Pete
I’ve been simulator practicing all winter. My score doesn’t show improvement but I know I am hitting purer and playing smarter.
Keep after it Pete.
What I see is someone, who's competitive drive and desire to master their craft that has gotten them this far, is the thing that is now holding them back.
"What got you here, won't get you where you want to be" - type deal.
Not saying lose the competitive edge, but managing expectations with yourself and being as present as you can (i.e. not thinking about the multiple puts/duffs etc.) is a great place to be!
You're a solid golfer, keep up the grind. The open will be well worth the experience :)
Oh this is amazing!
Great edit.
I enjoyed this video, looking forward to watching the rest of this series. I also like the little bit focusing on your ShotScope dashboard - I play with my V3 every round but don't do nearly enough with my data. Seeing little snippets of how you are using it will spur me on to analyse mine a little more! Good luck with the rest of the series!
Loving the videos dude
Video is a real dose of reality Peter, and interesting to hear your narrative! Come up to Newburgh for a round, its a proper test and we would love to have you play here
I love the line and distance graphics! So nice!
Padrig the legend dropping a compliment like that is a big deal.
Beautiful course and it looks like challenging conditions. You make the hard look easy and easy . . .well
Nice honesty about how you're feeling. Lots of people go through this but don't even realise.
Great video, Peter! You are swinging great and the attitude is perfect! Never be satisfied.
Tough conditions. You’ll get it.
Look up above
Pete! Outstanding work out there.
Always a good afternoon when a new Peter Finch video drops :)
I loved the Corner Peter adding extra commentary.
Very cool that you did this. I’m only 5 minutes in so don’t know how ends. You’ve been playing great lately.
Ive been watching your videos for years and they have definitely gotten better and better they are just so much fun to watch...just try not to beat urself up to much about the golf haha😂😅😊
Being a member at Fleetwood, all I can say Pete, is welcome to the real word of golf! That can be pretty classed as normal, just ask any member. Haha
Great to see you down at the course though showcasing it off.
All the best for the future
Dave
Keep up the grind, you have got the game
I also struggle with Piriformis syndrome so I feel for you and know exactly what you are going through with the hip/back/nerve discomfort.
Thanks very enjoyable.
Good effort to keep battling along and to look at the positives and looking for the opportunities for next time. Keep your chin up
Concentrate on the game mate. We as fans and those who enjoy a little game from time to time will understand. You need to concentrate on it and shake out the rust. Your fan base isn't going anywhere bud. You got this!! Go get that xp to level your game up. Lol. I'm cheering for you mate!! But always, always remember. Have FUN!!!
We love ya Pete! 🤙🤙🤙
Commenting to let you know that we love these videos - how to compete and how to prepare to compete - more than any other. Conditions are tricky and there are some good players out there. Would love to see an extended video on your strokes gained as it is tempting to look at things like three off the tee and think it wrecks your score (and it does), but I always get the feeling watching you that those partial wedges could just go a tiny bit closer, and that a few more putts from 9-10 feet could drop. Keep these up Pete, if you ever feel this pressure, remind yourself that most of us would love to be able to strike the ball like you, and that we all have more bad days than good - unless your name is Scheffler!
Finchy, this video just makes you more relatable. It was a tough watch as we all want you to do well, but it’s one round, move on. I also think you’d really benefit from having a caddy. Not to tell you which shots to play but to help with the mental health as you go round.
Really interesting Pete, love the post review analysis too
Appreciate the "A Knight's Tale" quote Pete!
Pete, your game has definitely been trending the past couple of months!
Finchy, you've got a great swing, smooth as hell.
I always think a that swing when I'm playin, keep smooth and don't rush, cheers bud.
Golf is hard, well done for hanging in there Pete. That "What if...?" crooked thinking is a killer though. Best of luck in the quest..
Love the video and breakdown of the round. Love the stats too. Hope to have some for of shot tracking one day
I got cold watching you Pete, and I'm in Australia!
Keep positive Pete, I appreciate its not always easy but listen to Padraig’s advice the best you can 👊
You're obviously a bloody good golfer. Put this one down to experience and be ready to go again. Still on the road - some bits are going to be bumpier than others.
I feel your pain with the sciatic nerve. Last year I played 3 rounds with 2 slipped discs. Not very nice but played 2 of my best rounds then. Nice easy swings and club up. Thanks for your videos.
Great honest round there Pete. I play a lot of links golf in North Wales and it can be so brutal, yes you do want to walk off sometimes. However as you saw, everyone else was struggling as well so you have to take it just one shot at a time. I played my first medal off the back tees last week and didnt care about the score, I just played each shot as it came. Had one double, four three putts and still shot 80 gross putting me 4th. Ignoring the scorecard was a big thing there and just leaving the last bad shot behind me - looking forward to seeing you progress, your game has come on massively.😁
Hang in there Pete - can’t wait to see you tee it at an Open - maybe this year!
I agree with one of my heroes Padraig - you have a great long and short game … you can make the Open Pete
Peter this is a tip, I play competetive golf myself, and as a 21 year old lad I have some issues that reminds me of you when it comes to expectations and beating myself up. Here's a tip that has revolutionised my mental. As much as possible whenever you have a bad shot or an unideal line etc. don't go with the mentality of "this was bad" or "I should've done this", go out there with the mentality of "maybe it got a good bounce" or "Im gonna ace this put". Its not cause im naive or anything like that, but in my experience it cuts down my negative thoughts ALOT and helps negate the snowball effect. If you imagine that you're mad 100% of the time after hitting a bad shot, this helps reduce that to only 20% of the time. This doesnt mean you don't get annoyed, but you're not mad while walking up to the ball, when theres nothing you can actually do or distract your mind with.
Then when you come up to the ball and see the bad lie and maybe get annoyed it's easier to say to yourself "I gotta focus on this next shot", cause youre actively interacting with something then. Hope it helps.
Pete, I think you should get the band back together in a collaborative Quest for the Open. You, Carter, Fryer, Rick (he may be “too big”), all pushing each other. One of you guys will get through. That would be awesome.
Peter has already psyched himself out before the round started . Positive thoughts always no negative stuff
Tough conditions on the day but like you said you need to look forward to the next shot and not think about the last, all the best for the next round 👍.
