I find it attractive and more feature than bug as it permits unique methods to connect cities with the minimum number of ports and adds to the creative aspect of the game, without it, port connections don't have that mental game of optimization and planning. It creates a skill gap between the silly player and the player who plans their port placement.
The guide was perfect, but I don't understood the rule about the connecting city with ports. Like why is there a difference at 7 : 20 and at 7 : 28 ? Because cities are both equidistant from the northwest edge if I am not wrong. gg for 4k subscribers btw !

Not much you can do unless you get the free spirit tech and disband. You might be able to expand borders to reach and build a port. Both of those options are probably not worth it to save a warrior stranded on an island

When both ports are equidistant from the northwest edge, the tie breaker is if the connection city port is closer to the north corner ( higher up)

No mention of icebreaking capabilities & strategy for naval units? I only recently discovered that rafts cannot break ice, but other naval units can.

Based for my understanding of Thalassocracy empire like Carthage, Srivijaya, Majapahit and Malacca Sultanate. Naval spam in water map is OP as hell
