Sweet stuff! I was out there last month and there were always people in that spot! if youre wanting to try somewhere else, right next to Discovery World (just south of the video location) is where i was able to get away from people and catch some as well. If you have waders or arent afraid of cold water head to Estabrook park or my personal favorite Kletzsch Park. get right up to the waterfall. My experience showed that cloudy rainy days were better than bright sunny. This is where i was able to get them on egg pattern flys as well as bright pink or egg sucking leech, but they also hit 3/8 oz silver cast masters. The fly fishers fly shop in Brookfield will have all the flys you need to get on them. The net is a must have.
I had fun using light 1/8-1/4 oz long shank jigs and plastics on a regular 7’ M spinning rod with 15# braid to fluoro leader. We were sight fishing them shallow on the rocks and twitching those jigs in front of their face. We had a hard time with cranks and jerkbaits and spinners. They would follow them up and wouldn’t commit. We were standing on those nasty rocks on the east McKinley pier. The pier on se of McKinley and southsore had some zombies.
If those guys hadn't been there to loan you a net, how did you plan to land those lunkers over the wall? I didn't see anyplace you could beach the fish. How were you going to get them over the wall?
These are my old stomping grounds! One thing I never understood if these fish die after they spawn? does that mean they only spawn once do they actually wait until they’re this large to spawn only one time in their lives?
Thanks for the informative video for us shore fishing guys with no boats.

Haha. Guilty.. I was trying to leverage its head. I’m used to doing it with a fly rod from the base of the cork.
