Dinky’s Auction Center - Shirley Bucket Excursion

This episode of our Shirley Bucket Excursions take us to to the Friday auction at Dinky's Auction Center, located in the the heart of Amish country between Montgomery and Odon in the middle of Daviess County. Hosting 49 Friday night auctions a year, Dinky’s is unlike any auction you've ever been to because so many auctions are happening at the same time in as many as 12 auction rings. They're selling antiques, goats, chickens, rabbits, and other livestock; lots of furniture, lumber and building supplies, old toys, hoses and paintings, flowers and anything that is brought in on Thursdays and Fridays to sell on consignment.
The auctions started here in 1996 after John Lengacher Jr. bought the 40-acre property from Jacob “Dinky” Stoll. His “Dinky” nickname comes from Dinkum Creek, the creek that runs through the property.
