I think if the parts aren't cost prohibitive to the point that you'd struggle to get your money back out of it, fixing it up so that some smaller company would be able to afford it would be the best way to go. For some little company that can't afford the price tag of the newer and bigger machines, this might be the perfect solution for them.
you know pre def machines are now more desirable shes got fair bones left in her if you have parts to fix her up id go that route instead of scrapping parting out
Do you have another bucket that would fit? If you do, change it, fix the cylinder and the leaks along with servicing it. It may be ugly, but most landscape and grading companies aren't interested in looks. They want a good running machine for reasonable cost.
It all depends on what you paid for her, and what the potential worth is at the end. You have most , if not all the skills needed at the shop. And a lot of parts. Get the thumb and bucket rehabbed , or potentially find a better used setup. Clean the whole beast up, especially the cab. Give it a good cleaning and a quick paint job and see how much you can make. I'de like to follow along, I'm sure many others would too !
I think an old pre-emissiions machine should be rebuilt at least to a functional, usable condition and kept in service. If I was in the diggin' business, I would prefer it.
I think the old girl still has some life left in her. The major parts are the swing and the undercarriage. She sounds great, depending on what you paid for her, a little TLC would make her great for a farmer or some of the sort. Besides, the slop in the boom is about the same as you'd get out of a new JCB. Man, those things have the slop factory built!
Keep it running. There's no sense to make another machine live when this machine still has life in it. I have NO idea what the costs would be for the parts to get her back, but the scuffs she's got on the doors. Considering the few leaks she has, I've seen cars with less years piss more fluids out in a month than this thing seems to have in its life time. The stuff at the end of the arm, the bushings, and such, you're in a scrap yard, so there's probably parts already laying around, or something could be either fabricated, or easy enough to get from other wreckers in the area that deal with this kind of equipment specifically. Since she runs well, and she still is agile, and most of the problems lie at the end of the arm, I'd look at just tightening up the bolts and cleaning up the leaks.
Get in touch with Allan at mountain Fortress, he could use something like this for his projects and might make you both happy. Enjoy watching your videos.
Your going to go the fastest return regardless of our opinions. My first impression is a good running older machine, pre def days, with just tons of potential. Paint and polish will fix most cosmetics, glass is reasonable, you find most of the needed parts for doors and panels to make it a better looking machine. With it being hard times on many small companies, it would be a godsend to those who need a smaller machine for demo work and loading trucks. I think labor is your biggest factor as you don't do any of the major building of any equipment.... your the fix a leak or replace hoses, twist a wire kind of guy. I took a lot older machines like these and built everyday working machines, they got another ten years out of them before the costs of upkeep sent them to the scrap piles
Q, it’s to bad IT DOES RUN GOOD. You could just freshen up the bucket and rams with new pins hold the costs down with your inventory of parts and sell it to a small out fit
C is a great series an it has a long track! I was looking at a 312 cl about two years ago. Never pulled the trigger as no way to haul it. I did end up buying a jd 323 skidsteer which weighs in around 9500 that i was able to haul.
I don’t see any other major issues other than the bucket and thumb, the rest looks cosmetic. If nothing else I’d enjoy seeing a video or two on fixing it up, obviously you have to use your judgment on a business standpoint. But my vote is fix it up
Good morning from Greece Peloponnese island and town Egio guys . Well in my opinion, do a complete restoration video series, most of us will watch those for sure 😊 it's a beautiful 😍❤️ machine and a mid size one , big enough to save it for yourself 😉 even if you have everything 😜
repair it, it would make good content then sell it to someone just starting out,it would be a great machine for a starting-out business where money is tight.
I think it’s too good to scrap yes sloppy like Granny’s knickers 😂 but runs good and the undercarriage is tight it’s definitely a machine worth flipping 👍👍💯💯
I would wonder about all the parts and labor $$$ you would put into it, (especially paint) to get it into selling condition.........might make more $$ parting it out?
fix it and keep it if you need it, or sell it to someone else, this things are so expensive in south america and you can get it in that condition in your place? my dad just to have a quarry and the machines didn't work as fine as this one
That definitely did not have a full-time operator on on it looks like a lot of seat warmers is know how to run a grease gun but today you got to hire anything that breaths
That thing had to of been at a scrap yard or a garbage dump, they are the only ones that can ruin machines like that . I didn't catch the hours but I would guess easily over 10k on it , although it's pre emissions and that makes it desirable , the amount it would cost you to get that reliable enough for you to sell without feeling guilty you would never get your money back unfortunately your going to have to part her out
We bought a linkbelt just after the Beachie creek fire to clean up the family property of a samily frien, She had most and ash and 4 inches off mud in the cab after sitting for 15 years, she was nasty.
She’s a little old and well used, and I don’t know anything about heavy equipment. That said, it doesn’t seem like a parts machine yet, close, but a little TLC could maybe turn that around.
Hey Quinton !! With the exception of the bucket & thumb ,, think you got a diamond in the ruff !! Fix what you can & send it to "AUCTION" in your area !! Who knows ,,maybe the Co. you got it from will want it back !! 🤔🙄😏👀👀👍👍👍👍👍
Pins and bushings are cheap unless you're able to line bore a lot of stuff it's just a picture of neglect I can't believe that machine is in that bad of shape for its age
The condition of this cab, only goes to prove that people don't care. I'll never understand why people treat their equipment like this. Have some pride in yourselves.
Given the absolutely insane prices excavation equipment is getting these days I'd do a C & C equipment level rebuild on it. Then flop it to finance the next buy. C&Chas taken on equipment in worse shape like that in recent years including ex military equipment bozo mechanics worked on.
At best what would make more .money new line thumb cylinder coat of paint of breaking it where you could have parts on shelf for a bit machines seem to be making decent money I'd do repairs major stuff you m may had what you need in shelf of sell it as is get new owner to go pay for repairs with a deal

requires a lot of money when you have to line bore

Good runner, computer works, I would take care of the slop and find another cylinder and sell it to a landscaping company that is starting out.
Do you have another bucket that would fit? If you do, change it, fix the cylinder and the leaks along with servicing it. It may be ugly, but most landscape and grading companies aren't interested in looks. They want a good running machine for reasonable cost.

I say fix it up! It deserves a new lease on life - just needs an overhaul and you can get the parts you need I'm guessing fairly cheap
Fix it and sell. Still a good machine 👍🏼 just needs some love
Fix it and sell it. Still a good useable machine.
I needed that roof rail from the truck....darn! Thanks anyway...

tightening up the bolts? more like replace parts and line boreing along iwth the cylinder your talking thousands of $

no Def. HUGE plus
I think she's worth looking into to fixing it up.

Fix it, it wants to live !
That would be perfect for dirt perfect. Just his style.
Quick fix, sledge hammer panels work see if you can find the plastics for the monitor. Wouldn’t bother with paint. Send it to auction
it needs a good high pressor hot wash then all the oil leaks you can see better
Quinton, you can load the machine up send ut my way and I'll clean the cab and weld that eye back on .😃😃😃
I think it will be a good runner for sure fix it and sell it
Put the parts it needs into it.
It is a good machine...
I don’t see any other major issues other than the bucket and thumb, the rest looks cosmetic. If nothing else I’d enjoy seeing a video or two on fixing it up, obviously you have to use your judgment on a business standpoint. But my vote is fix it up
Its saveable! Just for the fun of destroying things in the yard! Go on, give it a chance.

I’d run it in the shape that it’s in, of course fixing the leaks and bucket to be usable again.
repair it, it would make good content then sell it to someone just starting out,it would be a great machine for a starting-out business where money is tight.
I think it’s too good to scrap yes sloppy like Granny’s knickers 😂 but runs good and the undercarriage is tight it’s definitely a machine worth flipping 👍👍💯💯
In my opinion I would fix it up and sell it. It's still in good condition which surprised me so a few minor things will be easy to fix.
easy to fix? were talking thousands of dollars in line boring
@@dieseldrivenpulvermos673explain
Fix it it's a nice machine to sell to a farmer
There's enough to save for runner ! Depends on your work l9ad.
The only cab I ever saw dirtier than that was the Cat 977K cab that worked the slag pit at a steel mill I worked at for a bit.
During summers while in law school I worked at CAT in Montgomery IL in Building K bending tubes for this excavator & wheel loaders
I would wonder about all the parts and labor $$$ you would put into it, (especially paint) to get it into selling condition.........might make more $$ parting it out?
Looked good n right on the pivot
Keep it going its a good worker
fix it and keep it if you need it, or sell it to someone else, this things are so expensive in south america and you can get it in that condition in your place? my dad just to have a quarry and the machines didn't work as fine as this one

You should fix it. Watch the $$. But seems fairly solid. Except for the bucket and thumb cylinder. Fix it. Sell it.
We bought a linkbelt just after the Beachie creek fire to clean up the family property of a samily frien, She had most and ash and 4 inches off mud in the cab after sitting for 15 years, she was nasty.

Fix it up a bit and ship it to Africa. lots of the older machines end up going there as they run well on lesser fuels.
Looks good
Looks like another good buy. The machine sounds good yes a little dirty but maybe a good pressure wash might help.
save it its got to be of use to you in the yard
make it a tool to use to help disassemble the otherpieces of equipment
Hey Quinton !! With the exception of the bucket & thumb ,, think you got a diamond in the ruff !! Fix what you can & send it to "AUCTION" in your area !! Who knows ,,maybe the Co. you got it from will want it back !! 🤔🙄😏👀👀👍👍👍👍👍
Truly ever moving part is shot .Poor Maintenance.
Pins and bushings are cheap unless you're able to line bore a lot of stuff it's just a picture of neglect I can't believe that machine is in that bad of shape for its age

Man I need that ford 8 ft bed lol
Man it's mint!! LOL
Fix thumb cylinder and I agree. Sell it to a up starting company.
Need to rebuild it. Somebody out there could benefit from good machine at a fair price.
I love your shop and equipment yard 👍
Part it out and show the whole thing so I’ll know how to do it when I buy one for parts
Hell id be interested in it
It might be better to go over the worst of the issues n sell it off. You might still b ahead of the game and keep it in use at the same time.
It can’t be the worst if it runs.
I'm sorry, I can only provide comments about products or services. Let me know if you have any other questions relating to a specific product!
Well, it’s good enough to destroy things that I say it’s good enough to fix it
Fast tracking is not a bunny it is a hare, as it toutoise and the hare.
Boys with our toys…😂😂
Yes I saw worst here in alberta pipeline but you got good deal period
Definitely not the worst. The worst one is owned by Dale brothers/ State tractor in Kansas City
Probably original rollers just new tracks
Oh yeah, let’s crush stuff
Fix it. That would be a cool video.
fix it up. looks like a good machine apart from the slop in the bucket-dipper
almost think that machine was more abused then used
Price?
What of been a good price for that
Fix it and sell it !!!
Those things are notorious for engine failure
Fix it and sell it!
How much for the excavator the way it is cat 320?
smashing pieces if junk with a bigger piece of junk 🤣🤣
Definitely a parts machine
Fix it for the yard .
save it
Bro that’s cheaper and in better condition then most of them on market place
I think that thing could have a lot more work left in it.
find a burnt machine and make this good again
fixe it up and seal it.
Make an upgrade video
Fix it and sell if it is profitable
I'd fix it up...
Fix it up someone will put it back to work
I would fix it up
2 👍👍 up bro
Fixed it up
Fix it and put the old girl back to work.
Given the absolutely insane prices excavation equipment is getting these days I'd do a C & C equipment level rebuild on it.
Then flop it to finance the next buy.
C&Chas taken on equipment in worse shape like that in recent years including ex military equipment bozo mechanics worked on.
FIX IT!
Yoy should fix it
At best what would make more .money new line thumb cylinder coat of paint of breaking it where you could have parts on shelf for a bit machines seem to be making decent money I'd do repairs major stuff you m
may had what you need in shelf of sell it as is get new owner to go pay for repairs with a deal
