Have you or your Subscribers done multi country train travel or researched it ? Any suggestions ? Length of stay and budget not that important.. Thanks
That's Crazy to watch from your side, I was stationed just a few miles from the DMZ I remember looking over to the North wondering what it was like over There! Enjoying Life Good to see!
Maybe in the next vlog you can talk about the organization of the trip, prices, the documents you had to go thru and everything. That be very interesting.
@@janthemanwlj he released a video in the series talking about how much it cost and in that he covered some of those aspects, then in the following video it was sort of a Q&A and he covered some of the documents etc. He wasn't in depth, but essentially he just said look up Koryo tours and then if you're entering/exiting via China (which I suspect is probably necessary, not sure) then make sure you have everything necessary for the China visa. But for the North Korea side it seemed like Koryo tours took care of it, you had to sign a bunch of documents and give them your passport when you arrived (which you got back at the end). All up it cost about 3000 euros (apparently the prices advertised for Koryo were in Euros oddly), including travel to and from the country and expenses in the country, for the 8 day trip.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. My favourite content on UA-cam right now. Absolutely fascinating. Looking forward to seeing the train journey! Great work. Nick! 👍🏻
Amen! I love your footage, Nick... And FYI, you sure can work for History or Travel Channel. Thank you for showing the world how beautiful and horrible it can be. 🥰💙💛
I found this series by accident the other week and I binge watched them all. It's so interesting how life is in North Korea. I was adopted from South Korea when I was a baby. I'm almost 34 now. I don't even know if I'd ever be able to go there for any reason if I wanted it had the opportunity. Can't wait for the next part.
The simbolism of this monument is breaking my heart. I remember standing in front of the "Brandenburger Tor" in East Berlin 30 years ago and then standing there 20 years later when the Berlin wall has fallen and only a thin line of pavement stones reminds of that wall and everything which it has done to all the families and friends, who has been seperated by it and all the lifes it has been taken during its existance. Watching dokumentaries about North Korea brings back my feelings of my own past here in Germany and it always gives me goosebumps.
Actually, I've never traveled to the GDR, and I regretted it. So, even if my former Korean teacher "without a head" thinks it's stupid, it made me decide to visit North Korea. 🙂
I agree. But i visited morocco last summer and they dont use carpet but gorgeous Moroccan tilles. All my pictures basically contain moroccan hotel floors and walls 😍

Indigo Traveller June 6 was Memorial Day in S Korea and the 13th was election day. That would explain why the DMZ had no action on S Korea's side of the DMZ if you went the on those days. Sorry u couldn't cross the infamous border. That would have definitely been cool!
Pamela Miller if he would say something wrong about North Korea and they are monitoring his Chanel and knows his name and how he looks he can be in serious troubles. I really don’t get why it’s worth risking your freedom even the little thing can put you in jail for life he is pretty popular too.
He gained access to the country legally and with authorization of the NK government. I highly doubt they would kill or imprison a popular e-celeb. Recently, NK has attempted to turn their image around. This would only damage it even further.
I was at the DMZ from South Korea a couple of years back but we weren't taken to the blue buildings though. We were taken to Dora Observatory where there were mounted binoculars to look over to the North side where we could see the propaganda villages and the giant flag. We were also brought down really deep into a tiny tunnel where you could see evidences of digging being done from the North side on the tunnel walls. And then we were brought to Dorasan Station that the South built so that trains can come and go the North but the station never operates since unification hasn't happen yet. But I got to buy tickets, had some faux visa stamps and got on the platform to wait around for a train that wouldn't arrive. Pretty cool visit though, would recommend.
It's actually really surprising, from your side we basically see a lot of NK soldiers at the DMZ and not a single SK. But when I actually visited the DMZ from the SK side it was the opposite, lot of SK soldiers and not a single NK one. Wonder how that actually really works.
Romain V I'm pretty sure he went there on the 6th, which was Memorial Day in S Korea. It would explain why the flags were at half mast and not many soldiers were around, especially after the peace talks and tour visiting agreements.
When I was there, on the SK side. The guide said that the SK soldiers is there when the tourists come on the south side. And that the NK soldiers when the tourist come on the north. So as far as I understand they switch according to nr of tours on each side everyday...
I was in July on the DMZ and we were filmed (when inside one of theblue building on the demarkation line) thouroughly by NK soldier .. very intrusively
I think it was agreed on the treaty that South-Korea can't keep soldiers on their side openly watching over North-Korean side. That was what NK wanted or something.. But there was nothing about cameras - so the South-Korean side is full of cameras filming and securing the borderline and they (and allies) can be inside watching from those. They just can't hang outside and guard openly like North-Koreans can. Probably from NK's side it's so their soldiers don't accidentally have chance to talk to the SK ones etc. Keeping the appearance. But same time.. It's kinda safer for everyone this way so there is no misunderstandings etc.
I haven't seen any of photos or videos of DMZ where South Koreans stand in watch like North Koreans for awhile now. They do sometimes when there is people visiting as a tour from South Korean side.. It might be that when UN and of course US got even more involved the NK insisted more that there isn't any.. Cause early 2000s there was soldiers face to face but now not so much. They do talk and make agreemends when need to. Cameras are better yes - but that doesn't seem to be full reason.
True, when I visited NK side of DMZ they waren't there, they are never there when tourists from North side comes, they have some deal about that - our guide explaint that to us.
There do exist some tourist videos of the NK side where the South Korean guards are outside, and the tourists get to enter the blue buildings from the NK side. I will say this, it looks like the NK guards have upgraded their helmets at the DMZ now. ua-cam.com/video/FRHojGilg30/v-deo.html go to 9:24 of this video to see them enter the blue building from the NK side, and you'll also see the old helmets the NK guards wore before. No SK guards though in this one.
I live in S Korea and have been to the DMZ (last year in fact). They always have soldiers posted on the other side, however June 6 was Memorial Day and the 13th was election day here in S Korea, so it's possible that could be one reason why they couldn't be seen. I have a feeling it was memorial day as the flag was at half mast. Also, as Snezana said ^^^^ I believe there is an agreement that they will not be there at certain times. Also, after the recent peace talks I'm not sure what the DMZ is like. I'm thinking of going back and seeing if anything has changed.
I don't normally do travel vlogs but I've shared this playlist with so many people. Your knowledge and production of your videos is incredible. You can tell you put so much work and research into things and make each video genuinely interesting. Thankyou x

I've really enjoyed this series! And based on older videos I've seen from tourists going to North Korea it seems like they've expanded places they take you to visit, such as more cities outside Pyongyang and whatnot. It shows the country may be relaxing slightly... very slightly! Peaceful reunification with South Korea would be absolutely incredible to see in our lifetimes, but I think it has a long way to go before that can even become a possibility. North Korean locals seem lovely, at least... I really do hope for a better future for them.
I just want to thank you for the north korea series it has been such a journey just watching these videos i can only imagine how it must be in real life. truly thankful for these thank you.
although they are only showing what they want to show to the tourist ,it is beautiful. it’s a shame how we can’t know what the rest of the country looks like or how society really is. still really enjoying this journey! very eye opening
The scenes with that music at around 10:28 after talking about the possible reunification of Korea were absolutely stunning. Adding music like that made it seem as dramatic as it should be. It was a nice touch!
Absolutely brilliant yet again Nick. You are my hero, very envious of your travel style. So unafraid of using your camera, in any situation. I feel like a photo voyeur when I capture folks in different cultures who are clearly struggling. What is clear is it is far more important someone does it, and does it well. You do that....Damn well.
Love these videos man! You seem super respectful. I've been watching since the first, and noticed I forgot to subscribe! I've been just coming back daily lol.
I don't know if anyone has complimented you on this before but I love how you focus on the simple things like the landscape, the locals, the buildings, the passer-bys. Just really kind of showing the quote on quote "normal" life for people over there. Of course we all know that there is a chance that these stuff is not how they actually act without visitors around but still, I found it very cool!
I enjoy your vlogs so much! Its so interesting to see, not just your travel to north Korea. I just really really admire your efforts to show us such great and interesting (and very well edited) videos! :)
Nice work! I've been eager to thank you as a South Korean. North Korea is the closest country (physically and historically) but never get allowed to visit, so it was really interesting to know it as what I learnt was all from school materials. Thanks a lot! If you ever plan to visit South Korea and need any help, plz get ahold of me :)) Keep it up! Looking forward to next video as well!
@@MrMakoto2 Listen carefully to what he is saying. He is talking about the guard that greeted them at the Joint Security Area. He asked an interesting question that could potentially get him or Nick in trouble. Definitely a weird question he asked.
Yup that sounds about right, a North Korean asking for news about the outside world seems like something that could win you a one way trip to a wet room.
the country honestly looks really beautiful. and seeing people walking around getting on with there everyday life is weird because especially of North Korea you don't see much film footage of that thats what im really enjoying this series because its interesting to see the country and the skyscrapers and stuff like that but then also you have filmed people causally walking and talking and smiling as well which as we hear from what happens with North Korea thinking its all LAW AND ORDER (in most ways it is) but i think you know what i mean its nice to see a different side than war and nukes and military or something like that
It's the second time I watch your NK series and I have watched a bunch of other documentaries ! Truly, yours is the best by far . Very thorough, great images and the most interesting. It really feels like being part of the journey !
Hey Nick, I found your channel a few days ago when one of your North Korea vlogs was in my recommended and I've been hooked on your channel ever since. This morning I finished watching your Chernobyl series and I can't wait to watch your other videos. These NK vlogs are the best I have seen on UA-cam, you're doing a great job. I had no idea how beautiful the North Korean countryside is and those beaches in some of your vlogs were gorgeous. Thanks for opening my eyes up to it. NK is actually a place I've wanted to travel to so I would love if you made a video explaining the process of going to NK because I'm guessing it's not as easy as booking a plane ticket and showing up. And before some people jump on me, just because I want to travel to North Korea doesn't mean I support that country in anyway and I know someone's going to come and say that by travelling there I'm giving money to the government so therefore I am supporting it, just please leave it alone. Anyway fantastic work Nick and as a new subsriber I look forward to seeing what you do in the future. Sorry this is so long 😂
Cis White Male With Extra Privilege there is this thing called 'learning' and some ppl like to learn first hand and not believe everything they hear. As a wise person once said, "the world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page."
Catriona ditto! I could say the exact same thing. I was recommended his video when he added his first video of the N Korean series, and then I watched his Chernobyl series too! I also would be interested to go to N Korea and learn and see how life is like on the other side, except as an American who has been living in S Korea, I don't think I'll be going anytime soon. 에휴
Cis White Male With Extra Privilege I just said "Please leave it alone" because I don't feel like explaining my decision and I shouldn't have to to random people in the comment section on UA-cam. I commented on a North Korea vlog before by a different UA-camr that I wanted to go to NK and I got so many people basically attacking me for wanting to go there. And I'm not going through that process again. So that's why I didn't explain more because no matter how many times you explain something here some people just won't listen.
Sarah Kupka I really just want to see what it's like there too. Haha have you sajd it to any of your friends and family that you would like to go to North Korea? Because anyone I have said it to looks at me like I'm crazy 😂 so that will be a solo trip if I ever make it. Are you enjoying living in South Korea? Well if you wanted you could go to the DMZ from the South Korea side right?
Aw dang! I'm sad for you too for not getting to see as much of the DMZ as you wanted too. It's such a interesting place. I can't wait for the haircut episode!!! I've been eagerly awaiting each episode in this series. Great filming!
I really appreciate that you even put so much work into the cutting. Those panorama shots cut on the beat of the music are really awesome! Keep up the great work. Grettings from Germany!
The editing quality is really amazing, you should come to Venezuela I’m sure you could get great great footage. If you do come please make sure to hire good security
Thank you very much for your excellent N.Korea video. Would you please come to South Korea! It will be really interesting to see the differences between the two.
Was it June 6th? Cause then it was Memorial Day and that's why the flag was half mast.. What is kinda weird say for North-Korea to have the tour to the border.
Stop apologizing! Your captions are fine. As a Canadian, I'm wondering if you're secretly one of us? Sorry eh! Things haven't changed much since my visit in 2000, but the security detail (or lack thereof) was surprising. We had an armed guard on our bus, and had to turn in our camera's. Only allowed when they said it was ok, and no footage of travelling to Pyongyang. Nice to see what I saw, finally recorded. I too wanted more time in the DMZ, an iconic place! Thanks for the vids, hope you keep em coming. Again stop apologizing for that which you cannot control!
I can't thank you enough for sharing your experience with us! North Korea has been a topic of interest to me, but every show I've seen has had an agenda.
you're eating better than any other person in that country. i don't know if i could eat like that, being the only person in the restaurant and even knowing the wait staff doesn't eat like that.
Hi - I've been binging your videos all week and I have to say you have the best editing in your videos that I've ever seen on YT - you seem like such a chill guy. Keep it up man! - Ciara 🇮🇪
I am OBSESSED with your channel 😊 I have no idea how i found you, but I'm so happy I did! My co workers and i have been spending our lunch breaks watching the series. Amazing! Stay safe!
Sadly, after the NK government watched this, that guard was taken in for questioning because he wanted the news. Probably got killed or was sent to be reeducated 😞
Hey! Love your channel and nice job with the camera work. I loved your shots of the pedestrians walking along the road. You captured a side of North Korea many don't get to see. Thank you!
I would feel terrible going to a country like North Korea and eating those kinds of meals, because I know I would probably be eating in one meal what maybe twenty North Koreans won't eat in a week. I'd feel like I was indirectly stealing their food.
The North Koreans seem lovely people, its just a shame (criminal) how they have been treated over the decades, you have given us the viewer a great feel for the country and people that we do not tend to see in other vlogs, thank you. Good luck with the hair cut !
Matthew Dunn he can to get arrested for that shit I bet the government are already monitoring this chanel they are not stupid as you think he is very popular
I have been to the DMZ two times from the North Korean side and they do allow you to photograph/film military personnel within the Joint Security Area. Outside the DMZ you are not allowed to photograph/film the military.
@@justarandomguythatliketotr143 You're actually an npc. Beyond brain dead. The north korean government doesnt give a shit about a nobody on youtube. He was in the DMZ, DEMILITARIZED ZONE, he was allowed to film. Please pay attention.
Hey Nick, I was curious, haven't your trips became less attractive to you since you always have to film it, edit it and so on? Or maybe it just got even more attractive?
Another fantastic vid. Not sure what a united Korea would look like. The South is so advanced compared to the North and who's political system would the united Korea follow? You also have the added fact that the South would inherit a very large brain washed and traumatized, confused population from the North. I'm not so sure the regime in North Korea really wants a United Korea, it would kill off their own cult personality and ideology that they so much crave. I think for the North Korean regime it's a case of, (be careful for what you wish for)
Absolutely love your videos! How you only 148,650 subscribers is beyond me. Keep up the great videos. By far the best insight into North Korea I have seen. 😊👍

I somehow was suggested your N. Korea videos by youtube when the series first started, I watched out of curiosity, it's very well produced! I know you had a lot of struggles with camera stability and time constraints, but your photography, narration and music made it very interesting!

although they are only showing what they want to show to the tourist ,it is beautiful. it’s a shame how we can’t know what the rest of the country looks like or how society really is. still really enjoying this journey! very eye opening
Christine H You don't know bad stuff about California too. 😊
terex- I assume and hope you moved out of the 'horrible' USA, what country did you flee too?
Bessie Funk if The Dumb President goes Too Far that I Will Go Too Canada
Appreciate it! Thank you :)
Me too haha!!
Another fantastic video, thank you and keep up your work, it´s amazing. Much love from Germany
Thank you!
Put on the list: South Korea visit! I’d love to see your experiences there. This docu series is so fascinating! 🙏🏼✌🏼💗
Loving your work homie!
Liked from the UK, love all your videos, keep up the great work !!
I enjoy your vlogs so much! Its so interesting to see, not just your travel to north Korea. I just really really admire your efforts to show us such great and interesting (and very well edited) videos! :)
Thank you Hanna!
Really enjoyable journey to follow you along this entire series. Keep up the awesome work!
The way that soldier shook your hand, like he was a soulless robot.
12:26 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND that North Korean’s going to a prison camp
That could of been a test to see if he would talk against NK or give information he was told not to? just a thought
12:26 is him talking on his hotel balcony. What are you talking about?
@@MrMakoto2 Listen carefully to what he is saying. He is talking about the guard that greeted them at the Joint Security Area. He asked an interesting question that could potentially get him or Nick in trouble. Definitely a weird question he asked.
🤧
Yup that sounds about right, a North Korean asking for news about the outside world seems like something that could win you a one way trip to a wet room.
You should be a journalist though because I’ve now come back to this series three times. Best inside look of DPRK I have found online.
the country honestly looks really beautiful. and seeing people walking around getting on with there everyday life is weird because especially of North Korea you don't see much film footage of that thats what im really enjoying this series because its interesting to see the country and the skyscrapers and stuff like that but then also you have filmed people causally walking and talking and smiling as well which as we hear from what happens with North Korea thinking its all LAW AND ORDER (in most ways it is) but i think you know what i mean its nice to see a different side than war and nukes and military or something like that
It's the second time I watch your NK series and I have watched a bunch of other documentaries !
Sorry this is so long 😂
Thank you so much for all your kind words! I will make another video talking more about the process of getting into North Korea. Thanks again, Nick
I keep thinking he's saying, "We're going to the DMV" and I'm like fuck that IS a dangerous zone
Word is you never get out of there.
what's DMV?
@@hamsternuggetz did you get your ans. Then please tell me cause idk as well
Department of Motor Vehicle
I really appreciate that you even put so much work into the cutting. Those panorama shots cut on the beat of the music are really awesome! Keep up the great work. Grettings from Germany!
The editing quality is really amazing, you should come to Venezuela I’m sure you could get great great footage. If you do come please make sure to hire good security
Looking forward to your next video ! So interesting. Be safe.
Thank you very much for your excellent N.Korea video.
Would you please come to South Korea! It will be really interesting to see the differences between the two.
Best travel vlogger on UA-cam... Will go back and watch all your videos eventually..
Was it June 6th? Cause then it was Memorial Day and that's why the flag was half mast..
What is kinda weird say for North-Korea to have the tour to the border.
I know he said half mast but it’s half staff. No ship in sight.
Enjoying your North Korea series. Best videos and footage of NK I've seen so far on UA-cam.
"De-Militarized Zone" - Full of military. I know there's probably an explanation but that was my first thought lol
you speak without knowing what the words you say mean, you are an npc.
If you go to 5:45 you can actually see a South Korean soldier. I just watched this now so idk if anyone noticed this yet
11:05 Is That AUDI??!!!!
Yes, its copied
One of my favorites in this series most definitely. Your editing skills are superb!
Just became a patron of the channel. You’re the man! Keep bringing the world to the people! Cheers mate!
So cool! Thank you Austin, your support helps out a lot!
I like the way you film. It just let me feel that I am there too. For example the sound of closing the door, the sound of the old bus etc.
Oh i think he films obnoxiously, constantly focused on him
I've heard they check your camera's memory when you leave..... did you find anything like that?
When I went to the DMZ on the south korean side there was 2 guards on the north korean side and about 20-30 US military on the north side.
One of the greatest series EAVR!!! And cant believe u really shooked hands with a guard wat r the odds.
Thank you, my friend!
Indigo Traveller ur welcome new bud 😉
Interesting stuff. This channel is very underrated, especially this series
8:15 honking was staged so the city would look busy
I'm glad there are videos like this. Something most people will never see. I love stuff like this. Thank you
you're eating better than any other person in that country. i don't know if i could eat like that, being the only person in the restaurant and even knowing the wait staff doesn't eat like that.
But then in the west the staff often don't eat like the guests 🙄
Hi - I've been binging your videos all week and I have to say you have the best editing in your videos that I've ever seen on YT - you seem like such a chill guy. Keep it up man! - Ciara 🇮🇪
4:09 Yup, 조선은하나다! means "Korea (Choson/Joseon) is one!"
Cheers!
paonquinho i love the Joseon era. Im a k-drama fan ehhee
love it!! i really enjoyed watching it
7:39 No one gonna mention North Korea’s collection of aliens in jars?
Facehuggers
You are smart, comprehensive. Good work!
Looking forward to the next one!
Cheers!
I knew it! I was so mad he said that
How do you know the hard way taken off?
I know this is an old comment but I gotta say that’s scary.
Thanks for the content, brotha! I just came across your page a few weeks ago and I’ve already watched like 90% of your uploads. Safe travels! Cheers!
So cool! Thank you, my friend!
Thank you for sharing this video with us about North Korea. One day I would like to go visit this country myself. I find it very fascinating. 🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵
Really interesting to see north korea the way you presented it bro
The North Koreans seem lovely people, its just a shame (criminal) how they have been treated over the decades, you have given us the viewer a great feel for the country and people that we do not tend to see in other vlogs, thank you. Good luck with the hair cut !
Amazing video man, really well done. The scenes with the guitar music was an absolute masterpiece. Loved it!
11:29 crossing guard is bae
I am enjoying all your videos . Amazing clips
I feel like i have been waiting for weeks for this episode, but it has only been a couple of days🙈 btw; your series are amazing!😍
Thank you so much!
Are you currently in North Korea
I found this series at 4am last night haha hooked! Awesome channel! All the love from Ireland~!
I thought you said you cannot film military
Matthew Dunn he can to get arrested for that shit I bet the government are already monitoring this chanel they are not stupid as you think he is very popular
i believed they checked everything he filmed so, i think they probably let it pass.
These are the best series, if have learned more from NK than ever! Keep up the awesome work!
Hey Nick, I was curious, haven't your trips became less attractive to you since you always have to film it, edit it and so on? Or maybe it just got even more attractive?
I’ve been binging your videos for a week. Amazing content. Honestly, astonished you don’t have millions of followers. Keep up the awesome work!
I think for the North Korean regime it's a case of, (be careful for what you wish for)
Saw your first North Korea video in my recommended and I've been hooked since! Been up all night binge watching your channel.
Hi Nick. any plans to visit Japan?
One day, Gaz!
Absolutely love your videos! How you only 148,650 subscribers is beyond me. Keep up the great videos. By far the best insight into North Korea I have seen. 😊👍
I swear North Korean Girls are even more pretty than South Korean girls because they don't bleach their faces and get plastic surgery. For real though, some of the girls were really beautiful.
Agreed!
I would be giving a standing ovation at the private concert
Yeah but there’re probably half dead and severely depressed because of their stupid leadership
Incredible series Nick, already looking forward to your next destination. Safe travels man!
Fun drinking game: take a shot every time he comments on the roads being rough.
They looked fine
I found myself checking your series everyday for an upload, it was a fantastic series thank you so much.
Was that the final episode or did something bad happen to you?
Updates on my Instagram 🙏
I somehow was suggested your N. Korea videos by youtube when the series first started, I watched out of curiosity, it's very well produced! I know you had a lot of struggles with camera stability and time constraints, but your photography, narration and music made it very interesting!
