I love when you do reviews of scents I own; you're spot-on about the similarities to Eau Savage, scent breakdown, etc. It's classic, high quality, but low cost scents like Moustache that don't make me feel like I need to drop big money for the Creed and Tom Ford type juices. I know they are superior scents, but are they five or six times as superior to a little gem like Moustache?
@@Sam-ef2bn The best ones are still here. I can give you a chronological list, but I'd love Ashton to rank them. 1. Knize Ten (1925) 2. Dunhill for Men (1934) 3. Pour Un Homme de Caron (1934) 4. Rochas Moustache (1949) 5. Chanel Pour Monsieur (1955) 6. Guerlain Vetiver (1961) 7. Guerlain Habit Rouge (1965) 8. Aramis Aramis (1966) 9. Dior Eau Sauvage (1966) 10. Hermes Equipage (1970)
Moustache de Rochas (1949) is a legendary fragrance, and despite it’s obscurity, an important benchmark of masculine perfumery. Funny you should mention Christian Dior’s Eau Sauvage (1966): it definitely shares the same DNA as ‘Moustache’ since both were created but one of the master French perfumers of the twentieth century - none other than the great Edmond Roudnitska.
I get more of an orange smell sweet orange. But truly amazing scent, love the bottle big heavy, love the price and the fact that its from 1949 CLASSIC !!
Eau Sauvage kinda smells like Lemonheads too, I wonder if that's just an old timey thing, not many current fragrances seem to have that vibe. I personally love it, big fan of old school frags here.
This is right up my alley but I got not time for weak performance. I'm wearing my "One Man Show" as I watch this. Old man smell? Check. Classic? Check. Performance? Check. Cheap? You bet! I love it!
Cool review, I like your idea and checking out an old skool fragrance! Please do more as I feel some older fragrances are making a comeback and still relevant today as they are now unique.
Hey Ash. 1. I love your videos. 2. I have watched almost all of your videos and I dont think you ever reviewed the Lapidus Pour Homeme (Grey bottle.) 3. What is the best time and place to buy fragrances? I am 23 and I work full time and go to college full time, so affordability is an issue hehe.
I bought this edt late '60s and I agree with you that reminds me eau sauvage by CD.The only different was in the package ( the color was bleu ad witout thr stripes).Overall a beautiful smell !!!
Man this is amazing and long lasting scent .. i really love the opening and the lavender and the weird scent in middle or harsh ?? I buy it by mistake thought its the edp now i has both of it and really love both 😍😍 thanks for the review 🙏🏻
Awesome video, Ash! I’ve been waiting for this video for weeks now! I own and love the EDP, but was on the fence regarding this one. Basically, I’ve been a sub of yours for so long, I rely on your reviews for whether or not to blind buy. In this case, looks like I’m blind buying. Thanks as always Ash! 👍👊
@@nalveyna I love it, but you have to be a fan of old school fougere fragrances to appreciate it. A LOT of lemon, a lot of lavender, and lots of green notes. Not very lasting, but not meant to be.
Thanks for reviewing this, I'd been wondering how it smells and this video convinced me to buy it. It sounds like it might be just the kind of citrus fougere I've been searching for. If the scent quality is anywhere near that of the EDP, I'll definitely love it.
Would be interested in your thoughts on this vs. another classic - Eau de Rochas Homme. I have the latter and like it. Which do you prefer? Also, would welcome a full review of the EDP, which I really like.
I have and love the edp. The next flanker will be called Glorious Mustache. I am not a huge fan of lemon note or neroli sometimes so I did not love the edt but it is okay.
Last year I bought the edp, did not suit me, didn't give it really a trie...Watched your review two weeks ago and ordered the 125 ml edt version and WAW, just WAW, this is absolutely fabulous !! So classy and everything you said is spot on !! This is way underrated !! Thank you Ash !
That's what confused new fragheads like me.. I would think that the Moustache EDP smells just like the EDT but the EDP projects more and better performance.. So what it seems is Moustache EDP and EDT are two different smell? and How come Moustache has been out since the 80s but became hyped in the last few years?
Nice review.. How much this scent is similar or close to Eua Sauvage 2017 by Dior? If i would opt one of these 2 keeping in view budget & its cost whether Moustache EDT is a best alternate of Eua Sauvage 2017? Thnks in advance 🙏🏻
I got the EDP version. It is amazing! I have not found Tuxedo yet but I know the EDP smells amazing!!! The 80's was an amazing era. Gonna have to check out ghe EDT. I love your break down of it.
You should buy the original release and do a comparison. That would make for an interesting watch! Someone has it online for like $57. I mean the original from like decades ago. The juice is super dark and it's a EDT.
Video idea: "Fragrances that are marketed for the wrong gender" tell us what feminine fragrances that are great for men. Please include "CoSTUME NATIONAL SCENT INTENSE" , and review it.
I got this a while back because I couldn’t get my hands on the EDP. To me it has a little bit of a soapy vibe with the lemon. It’s also has a little bit of barbershop tones with Anamalc funk. I do actually like this but I would say it leans a little bit older and might be a little bit risky for a blind by scenario. I definitely don’t have anything else that smells like it. It’s the perfect sent to throw on after you just got a haircut.
I would not recommend blind buying this. This edt smells like eau sauvage but only the first 10min. Then it has a strange drydown that lasts until the end. I blind bought this and didn't like it at all. Check Joy Amin review on this as the way he described it is exactly what I smell. Again I recommend not to blind buy this!
I Got The Rochas Moustache Vintage Version, It's Old School&Super Legend. But, New Rochas Moustache Original 1949(New 2018) More Modern&Masterpiece Sour Fresh Fruity Scent.
i very like this video.. u give some unknown perfume a little bright.. so people may interested for check it up.. nice indeed.. moreover u are funny in this video haha
Anyone else agree the performance of this edt is terrible, i sprayed several sprays on my arm and an hour later i can barely smell it and that's sticking my nose against my arm.
I bought the parfum version about a month ago and I have to say the smell is simply out of this world (and here's the but) the longevity, performance and projection are terrible, last about an hour tops, very disappointing
@@pallemaniac Bro, what I do is spray it under my arms with a shirt on and/or on a polo shirt under the collar or under a lapel of a jacket eg., it seems to work really well on clothes, just terrible on skin 👍

Together with Eau de Rochas great buys for spring and summer. But the best fresh scent of Rochas in my opinion is Rochas l'homme
