I had the same question before I purchased Stitch Artist 1. I did finally just buy Stitch Artist 1 last week, and I'm finding there is so much to learn just with this level. I am glad I just started with Level 1. I'll upgrade to Level 2 when I've successfully mastered Level 1.

I watched the video 3 times and you skipped over converting from the jpg to a pes or embroidery format
There is no conversion. You can open a JPG as a background image and use the drawing tools to create objects to which you assign stitch types.
