It’s worth knowing that installing a consumer unit and fixed wiring system is a notifiable thing to build and control. I’m not sure if it is notifiable in a vehicle but it’s definitely something a professional has to be consulted on because there have been cases where things haven’t been notified that need to be and fires have happened and insurance has refused to pay out. Unit is also not up to the regulations for selectivity you’d have to use individual RCBO so only the circuit that would trap an RCD is turned off however on a socket circuit you’re also required to have AFDd protection too and a search protector is required there is no immediate safety issue but it can become unsafe without it being done this way on the consumer unit the cables have to be blended in so there is no single insulated cable on show as that has the potential to become dangerous with very little damage. I don’t mean all of this in a negative way but it’s very important you know the regulations you have to do this too because they are there for a reason.
Really enjoyed your company last weekend, great to see Dork in the flesh.....I really think it's a superb van to hire out Sam's wiring is exceptional as it's one of my bug bears on some peoples vans , it's got to be neat an tidy. Well done bud. Nic your colour scheme is just perfect. . Hope to see our favourite Shropshire van couple soon. Andy an Deb x
So nice to see you both again! I haven’t forgotten your offer for if we need a big steaming 💩. We are actually passing by right now and have just been to maccies so get the toilet ready 😂
Hi Nic, lovely van build! Your sofa cushions - were they professionally upholstered? If so, what company did you use? Looks like a really good job on them! Thanks 😊
Thank you so much 🙌🏼. We got the fabric and zips from Abakan and a local seamstress sewed it all together for us. The place is called the Sewing Room in Wellington, Telford 🤗
Is there a good way to make tbe water pump stay st the bottom of the cannister? I can never 100% empty my water tank as the pump doest sit perfectly at the bottom.
It’s a pain isn’t it. Unfortunately I don’t as the entire end needs to be submerged so there will always be about 2 inches of water left if you can lay it horizontally but that’s not always easy unless you’ve got enough slack 😢
Don't be too concerned by the low input from the solar panels yet - I had the same when i first turned mine on, then I found out that the MPPT will only allow in a low wattage if the battery is already charged/mostly charged as not to overload it. Wait until the battery is discharged some more and then see the wattage increase to how much you expected to see. :~)
Good call Seamus, I had exactly the same, thought the MPPT wasn't working properly, then turned on the fridge and all the electrics to create a demand and the solar watts shot right up. Often I see sub 10w because the battery's charged and I'm not a big consumer of electric.

I don’t want to be an annoying negative Nancy…. But.. how exactly is the fire blanket and extinguisher of any use in a CUPBOARD?! Yes they are bright red and ugly, safety is like that, ugly. Put them front and. Enter on the kitchen wall where that could save a life or a van!
Not at all, I guess you have to think about all motorhomes, they don’t have fire extinguishers or blankets on show either. In houses, you don’t get one at all. So having them in a cupboard that you can access from both sides is more than enough. I’d hope if there was a fire people would get out first. Then grab the extinguisher once outside and safe 🤗
@@lee.m.bennett2635 insurance haven’t specified we even need an extinguisher or fire blanket. I don’t think that’s fair to say ‘typical UA-camr, thinks they know best’. I was just answering your concern explaining why it’s ok to be in the kitchen cupboard. In fact, we’ve done more than many people even do by providing the extinguisher and fire blanket in the first place. You’re just not happy it’s not the answer you wanted 🤷🏻♀️

Thanks for your response! I’ll look into doing just that my local ways. Finding it quite expensive doing an all in one type job online! Thanks again 😊
Hi! Do you have a link to the hose adapters you used ? Can’t seem to find them anywhere
I don't sorry, they are from Howdens though :)

Thank you so much, we will keep an eye on that when they discharge, although unlikely with the sun we’ve been getting recently 😂
