That's the freaking laptop I was waiting since 4000 series where a 6 or 8 core cpu has been paired with a moderately powerful GTX card. That will give you best of both worlds...Intel has such design for long but Acer is the first one to introduce for AMD.

I think it's mostly for students, like I would enjoy it as I'm looking for a good all around laptop with power, portability and a nice design so depending how it performs I might buy it.

WOW, this laptop is FOR ME ! I'm a student that needs a not too bulky laptop for everyday productivity, heavy multitasking and crucially I need good battery life (more than 6h at least) but at the same time I enjoy playing games in the evening, and I can't have a console since I'm moving around between my home, my girlfriend's home, and i might transfer abroad soon. Also I prefer PC gaming over console in general. I would definitely like higher refresh rates and image quality, but honestly I'm totally ok with accepting some compromises. 1080P DLSS 60fps with medium details is fine, also because the alternative for me is the Nintendo Switch that's below 720p 30fps super low details
I don't know man, the rtx 3050ti seems like shit. I mean the msi gf65 thin is also lightweight and has a rtx 3060. Infact theres a 4800h + 2060 laptop for $1k and its even thin and light with a 120hz screen. This 3050ti laptop seems like shit.

For some comparison of battery life , my Acer Aspire 7 with R5 5600U got me a max of 17hrs12mins on light usage and maximum possible battery saving settings . Really Ryzen U series is a Small Packet Big Explosion

There are some professionals who needs small, compact, lightweight and fluid 14 inch laptops with all the legacy ports. Also, some of those workers may want to play some light games at night. Gaming laptops are too heavy and designed for heavy gamers. Ultrabooks dont have necessary ports and dont come with external graphic card. Let’s face it, integrated graphics cards are almost trash. Believe me or not, there is a strong demand for all around laptops. 14 inch ultrabook + good build quality + decent keyboard and trackpad + all necessary ports + 2k bright screen + latest processor + light gaming support would be very attractive.
Super gutted that the Ezels didn't even get an update. I was hearing the 3D in the event and I was on the edge of my seat hoping that they were going to then unveil the Ezel with it and dare I say a camera on the bottom/back of the device for AR.
Glad AMD are bringing better performance and lower prices to the market, so consumers have a choice of not being ripped off by Intel! As an ultrabook with a bit more performance than the crowd, it is in the game, but it will not be on their shortlist for those looking specifically for a gaming laptop or pro laptop. It still is another choice in ultrabook land, which is a good thing, solid value if maybe not quite there design-wise? Still, it is not really swaying me away from the currently cheaper MB Air!

spent a lot talking about the graphics card and totally skimmed over the fact that this is one of the only laptops you can find with a 5000s series chip thats zen 3. If you dont care about graphics and want solid performance for productivity this is a standout!

These ultrabooks are getting nuts. In 2018, it would cost you almost 3500 USD to get a desktop with the fastest components available to match what will soon be available in sub 1000 USD ultrabooks.
This is for college students who don't want to lug around a gigantic gaming laptop from their dorm to class and back or in commute during the day, while also getting to enjoy a bit of gaming at night in their dorm rooms and during off-hours in the library

Rtx 3050 and 3060 are just fancy numbers. I don't see them performing better than last Gen 1660Ti, 2060 or 2060 super. But then again we do need new Gen cheaper gaming laptops.

Please stop asking for high refresh rate. Manufacturers won't add a better panel they'll just swap a 60Hz panel with good colours and brightness for a 144Hz with bad colours and brightness that's appalling to look at. This is not a gaming orientated machine, and not all gamers care at all about high refresh. Please just stop.
When I first viewed an Acer product twenty or so years ago I felt the design and value was great though I was uncomfortable about reliability. Time passed on and eventually around five years ago I purchased an Acer Tablet. It progressively failed and in a years time refused to boot up. Today I use it as a dead work surface. I have come across another Acer customer who had an even more horrible experience with them. I really feel I cannot trust another Acer purchase.

At this price point you would be better off going for an MSI Stealth 15m for a little cheaper or a HP Omen 15 for the same price both have a stealthy form factor for students/creatives with an RTX 3060 for Better gaming performance👍

I'm using an acer currently... Never regretted... ever. Fantastic laptops they make.
Think a laptop-setup will be the way to go with this one. 60hz gaming on the move, come back home, plug it in to your 144hz external monitor.

120 Hz screen at 300+ nits and a 3060 6 GB would have been perfection. + HDMI 2.1
Check out the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro which will come out soon, it has 120Hz, 1440p and 350 nits, unfortunately it won't have a 3060, just a 1650

You can't buy the Swift X with a 3050 TI in the UK. In the UK, it only comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with 4 GB dedicated memory. Shame.
