Great use of the granulating paints on the flowers. I didn’t think it was possible to use them on anything but landscapes, but you did great!!! I especially like the second set of flowers & that vase was fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I love granulating colours as they remind me of Autumn and Winter, which are my favourite times of the year. 😊 The colours you used for the vases looks like a glaze I've seen on cups before. 😊
Absolutely love the granulating colors! Your flowers are gorgeous and the pots came out beautiful. I personally love working with granulating paints, some of my favorite projects have been from using the granulating water color pigments. Thank you for this lovely tutorial. Your playful teaching is what makes you so wonderful to watch. Plus you have a soothing voice. 😊
I’m loving this granulating watercolor. I just ordered a small palette from deep deep light…patiently waiting for the arrival. I forget what’s in the palette now!! lol. Man I’ve gone down the rabbit hole
I love these paints Emma! These are both so stunning paintings and I love the effect. I think the second painting at ~ 18:18 was the perfect spot - so beautiful and somehow delicate despite the granulation - think the unique properties of these of these paints were are their peak at this stage for me 😊
I absolutely love the vase look before you made them even darker and the flowers are also very pretty prefer the cosmos ones though they looked beautiful 😊
I love the granulating colours especially on the pots/ vases! But the Cosmos also are fantastic - even if I prefered the first version of them. Look great!🎨❤️
I love using granulation for my plants and flowers. You should look into Mijellos Two Tone paints with Tourmaline. They are BEAUTIFUL!! I love them and they have. A lot of colors !
I thought it was an awesome color. If you look on your Napkin or paper towel you pressed your brush on you could see the blue coming out. The Iris was awesome so were the other flowers and the vases!! The dry brush really helped. You would have to use a really light touch for those colors to come out though. I think that would be kinda hard to do?? I don't know?? Your the expert. Lolololol 😊. Emma whatever you paint it's always great looking 👌. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.
Pan pastels. I know this is off topic, but have you ever used pan pastels with your watercolor? I never knew about them until a tutorial yesterday. Very interested in your opinion. Thanks.
Do you have a source image to refer to or have you just painted those particular flowers so many times you just whip it out? I will admit I bought those same paints, took one look at them, and said YUCK! Mine must be ruined! I never bothered to swatch them 😂😂😂
Flowers are mostly soft in texture. So you should choose transparent colours to glaze or layer, retaining the softness. Also, you will use soft papers like hot press (details) or cold press (loose) . Whereas, for landscapes, illustrations etc are textured. Hence you use rough or 640 gsm paper. Similarly, for skin and fur, thick paper, opaque colours and for feathers and florals, soft 300 gsm papers can be chosen. Granulating colours are often textural and therefore, they work well for textual subjects such as landscapes, animals, still life etc. You will have fun if you choose the right combination of subject- paper- paint.
Hmmm. That sounds like perhaps you should have your own channel. Then you can say what ever you like without hijacking someone’s channel and trying to teach the teacher. Just a thought.
We all know art is subjective. Use your own materials however you see fit. There are no rules saying you cannot use granulating colors in florals. Personally, I love granulating colors and it was nice to see it used in florals. Something different!! Thank you Emma for sharing. I have had these same paints for a while, haven’t used them much, but now feel inspired to do so.
I purchased these a while ago, but haven’t used them yet. Thanks @emmajanelefebvre for demonstrating! You have given me some inspiration to go and play. ❤
Dry brushing the first pot made all the magical difference ❤
Love the monotone in the cosmos painting. These paint effects are super 👌
The pottery is beautiful! It has the look of old world vintage!
