Yeah I also fell into this rabbit hole of fragrances. Especially facebook groups of experienced perfume lovers you share their bottles - this way I can smell the most niche fragrances in 2/5/10 ml samples.
Same the end of last year and beginning of this year i bought a crap ton of travel size fragrances (i dont do full sizes for fragrances that i defs wont use up esp bc i only do 1-2 sprays per day)
I have a group of ladies where we share new bottles. One of us would buy a full 100ml and split it 5 ways. That gives us 20ml each which is plenty when we have a large collection. Brings the cost of a spendy bottle down to manageable.
@@Mamado88 It really does work out really well, but of course, they need to be people you trust or you'd be out a bunch of money. So, be careful if you do decide to do something like that.
Thank you for the update! I think you are doing just fine! :D I have used up but also decluttered a lot of items this past year and what I learnt was, is that actually I missed certain products so much, I simply ended up skipping that step in my makeup entirely over using it to something sort of similar that I might still have. Which left me feeling incomplete and sad and wondering if other makeup users are silently judging my look... I have gained the wisdom of my own past decisions, where I THOUGHT items were similar, but no they were not. My original collection and buying rules make sense. I will stop my forced methods on reducing makeup items that I own in my collection. I shall continue to hoard, but according to my super strict curation. About perfume: so just last week I have discovered that my sense and preference of smell is changing, too. My 4+ yrs of favourite ever perfume almost made me vomit after wearing it for less than 15 minutes. And I could tell that the bottle hasn't gone off, but my nose was picking it up or inhaling it down? in a different way. I am anxious. As you said it takes a lot to find things that you like and it took me about 6 years to find my current preferences (simply never bought anything just sniffed in store before that) and to start that again.... I am not sure I want to.
Awesome that empties are going well and budget is too! On top of makeup no buy have been on a home decor/trinket no buy, have made exceptions with outdoor Halloween decor, but feeling ok about it. I’ve been good with makeup no buy 😇. Im kinda glad fragrances make me sneeze maybe id have a collection too with all the social media stuff around it 😅
Yeah I have been trying to avoid home purchases too. We just got our backyard done so we will be getting new outdoor furniture soon. Besides that, I am trying to be good :)
I’ve been more into fragrances than makeup for the past year or so. Would love to see some more fragrance videos from you. Maybe an updated collection video. :)
Always enjoy your updates! I'm totally a re-applier of fragrance! 🌺🌺 As an elder lady, I can happily report that reapplying has many a practical purpose with aging lady body bizness. It's a full-on part of body refreshment, and people just think it's fancy. It's worth it if you ever get the chance to try single ingredient notes, if you need to curb buying bottles. Like the Middle Eastern scent world, to sniff genuine fine oud and also genuine roe deer musk. These ingredients are getting more scarce and ghastly expensive. But it's easier to sniff them somewhere as an ingredient, rather than actually trying to buy them. And the Arabic fragrance world has the best. I suppose rather like trying a fine whiskey somewhere rather than buying a case.
I would absolutely LOVE to buy more fragrances, but I have such a large collection of them that I really feel bad that I am not using them enough. I opted for samples or minis recently and that helped scratch the itch, but I am SERIOUSLY considering a complete no-buy at least on fragrances, just so I can use up some of my collection amd not feel so guilty when I buy something new. I think I might do a makeup nobuy for most of next year as well, because I went completely crazy on lip oils and lip balms this year. And I have been quite poorly these past few months so I'm not even using any makeup 😭
Omg same! And I tend to feel even more guilty with fragrances because it can take so long to get through them! Especially compared to something like lip products which I can reapply more often throughout the day 😭
I think once you start to curb the makeup and skincare spending fragrance tends to move in. I've noticed that, with myself also. Since perfumes do expire and I only apply once for the day, I've decided to go on a no buy until I've used up all the older ones that I've got. And I can layer them to dupe the vibes of anything that catches my eye. I'd like to get a Middle Eastern one, but like a distinctly sweet-smoky one, not a dupe for anything. In fact I'm basically on a general no buy and mixing and matching and layering everything. Creams, blushes, lip products, etc.
There are heaps of middle eastern brands and they often have hundreds of fragrances. They have a lot that are sweet and smoky. I actually have a hard time finding some for me because most have very strong notes that I personally can’t wear.
For any European fragrance ballers on a budget, may I suggest Divain? They do dupes as well as original fragrances and when they have a sale, you can get bottles for under €15. They last quite nicely too. They also provide a tester with purchase, which you can use first to make sure you like your choice. That way you can return the bottle unopened if you don't. As for makeup, I've been replacing finished products only, though not eyeshadow palettes, as I'm whittling down my collection. I set up a new station with my recent move and I've really been enjoying using makeup again. I 5hink the cooler weather and less sweating helps with that too though 😅
Im loving perfume at the moment but this week finially opened my body butter from the body shop lychees i haven't worn perfume allxweek but wished i had opened it earlier as i would have brought more
@@KitschSnitch If you love fruity mango deliciousness, the yellow Yara, I think it's called Yara Tous is delicious. I'm pulling it out to wear again cos it's just starting to get warm enough for it.
I also jumped into the same fragrances. There are 2 different stores that opened years ago (in different malls), but I have never been and a few weeks ago I've seen their online stores and they sell samples. Even now I have an order ready for me to go get from post box with 14 samples (3ml for 3€).😂
It would be interesting to see at the end of the year/New year if you actually spent more or less doing it this way, and how the numbers compare to not doing any low buys. Not you necessarily, but I've seen some people who can actually end up spiraling more and spend more when they have strict guidelines, not sure why!
I don't tend to document how much I spend over the years so I personally couldn't do that, but it would be interesting! I do get what you mean, with any diet or restriction people can blow out once they break it. I luckily don't feel like I have done that, but I also don't think I have saved much money (I also blame the new perfume interest for that). If I wanted to save money, I would probably do a drugstore only project and focus on sales and the best product for the lowest price. But my main focus at the moment is having a smaller collection of things I really love, which means I often don't look for the cheapest option available.
Really good! They also are supposed to get stronger over time. Some of these lighter fragrances last on me most of the day (let's say 6-8 hours) but some of their stronger fragrances and dupes last until the next day haha! Those are a bit much for my nose
I like the updated name of “slow buy” to reflect both your intentions to reduce spending and the reality of how that’s been in practice

Really pretty eye look!

Loving your content on this gorgeous green palette and it is so striking with this navy top.
Love the No/Low/Slow Buy updates too
Love the green eyelook ❤

Thank you! Em Cosmetics Color Drop Serum Blush in Sunset Sky and Colourpop Lippie Pencil in Another Round ❤
I’d be interested to know what you think of the new lumi foundation- even if it’s just a short recap
I was supposed to start a wear test today, but I totally forgot haha. I will try to film a review soon :)

Looking forward to a review of the Maybelline foundation please! I was looking at it recently 😊
Yep! I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but a review is on the cards ☺️
Ooh. You discovered Middles Eastern perfumes. Ooooh. That’s a rabbit hole.
Yeah I got onto them earlier this year, but lately they have been my budgeting preference :)

Yeah that seems to be the way they're doing it now, it's a good strategy for everyone.they still get the sales and we get the variety

How are the "dupe" fragrances lasting? I tried a popular dupe brand here in the US and I couldn't smell them after 10 minutes

I'm looking for a dupe for Armani Luminous Silk, is the Maybelline you showed a good alternative?
I haven't used it yet, but I will let you know in the review :)
Super keen for the review. I've had a few foundation duds recently so wouldn't mind a winner the next time I want to scratch that itch.
