    EXCELLENT VIDEO. Good cattle dogs are worth their weight in Gold, such a valuable tool on a Ranch. Also fun to watch and learn how real PACK dogs work together. Great addition to your video collection ABR.

    I am glad to see you showing the training. So many people don't understand how cattle dogs work, nor that cattle have to be "trained" (as if they can be trained) to be worked. Well done sir, and kids, and Lorenzo.

    • @Fitaroy
      @Fitaroy 7 місяців тому +1

      This is an absolutely terrible display of cattle dogs. The trainer has zero control of the dogs and the cattle are under extremely unnecessary pressure.
      The cattle “breaking” from the bunch are actually being driven out of the dogs I imagine so they can try to kill one.
      For the love of god for anyone reading please do not take this as a good example of working dogs. This is a complete circus and is not good for the dogs or the cattle.
      I cannot believe this guy put this on UA-cam.

      Bundys are relatives on their own ranch a couple hours south of here.
      Long story short 30 years ago the BLM kicked cattle ranchers off of most public lands in Clark county.
      To avoid problems most people took a skimpy payoff and gave up their grazing rights. Cliven on the other hand fired the BLM for being poor managers and has been ranching with out them .Has to run them off every few years when they try to come confiscate his cattle. But it’s not all about the cattle. Fighting corrupt government is priority.

    I grew up using heel dogs working feed lots and auction yards. I became interested in Catahoula dogs and got a couple brought in from Louisiana. They were driving me nuts try to make them into something they weren't. I got to be friends with Choc and Gary Erickson (founders of the hangin tree cowdogs.) They took me and my Catahoula dogs out into a 40 acre pasture, turned 15 head of roping cattle loose. I thought "oh great! No catch pens, no panels, just me and my "untrained" wild go yonder Catahoula half grown dogs and his foundation dog Scott. Gary taught me the mind of my dogs. Next thing, I was riding in front of the cattle, my dogs were behind, Scott insured all was well and Gary and Choc rode along smiling.
    First time I saw curs and Catahoulas on your UA-cam channel I hit "like" and "subscribe!"
    I'm a big fan of your family. God bless yall!

      Best working dog I had was a male Aussie crossed on a female Catahoula, she was smaller than a Catahoula but had all the heart and the smarts of the Aussie. She was even great working horses. I could have 4 head on a hotwalker and she would know which one was setting back and would keep them going on her own. I've had a couple of heelers and a full Catahoula but I would love to get another cross as she was better than the others.

This could have been done carefully with dogs/puppies and heifers trained in a less gung ho fashion. Maybe making the video for You Tube you consider worth this level of animal stress. Most cows Learn to cooperate pretty quickly but there is always going to be at least one stubborn cow or bull that wants to cause trouble. I’ve never seen that many dogs used at one time to herd cattle. It was pretty chaotic at first but most of the cattle fell in line pretty quick.
