Fishing the Linville River Gorge, NC

- The Linville River Gorge in North Carolina offers some scenic and adventurous fishing opportunities in a hard to reach setting. The brown trout are known to grow plenty big here but with so many deep pools to hide and so much forage to feed on I had trouble catching many. The trails leading to the stream are steep and rough.

Trust me folks he AINT exaggerating about the "difficult hike" to the river but the fish population might BE exaggerated in this video. Hardly worth the effort it takes to get there. One would be far better advised to look elsewhere if quality fishing is the goal. (Slickrock is a better bet similar hike but LOADS more fish.)
Great work! Thanks for sharing on UA-cam!!!
I couldn't agree with Joe more! Would love to see you learn to fly fish, you'll catch more fish and wont do as much harm to them. More than willing to teach you if it will get you to hang up that rod and reel :) .........and bet the trout wouldn't miss those treble hooks in their soft mouth's either. Loved the area though and hope to fish up there soon myself.
Most of my recent fishing videos do feature a fly rod, usually a Tenkara. I don't think they are as productive as a spinning rod but they are more fun to watch in a video.
That music has to go.
My ears are bleedin as we speak!!!! Lol
🤣
Creepy music, sounds of running water and song birds would be appropriate.
Horrible music
always with the bizzare music
It’s his own.
First fish is a warpaint shiner
On my way there to fish what lure are you using?
Paul Downer The brown trout was caught on a #8 bead head olive woolly bugger, fished on a spinning rod.
Linville Gorge isn't the '2nd most deepest. longest canyon in North America', but it's still quite large. Good video though!
How long of a hike😊
1.8 miles horizontal. That was the easy part. I don't know what the elevation change was but that was the hard part.
what is this section of the river? hatchery supported or delayed harvest?
In the gorge I believe it is hatchery supported with a 12 month season, stocked with fingerlings via helicopter.
where exactly can you fish?does it start below the scenic falls?
The Linville Gorge is about 12 miles long. Trout are found throughout the entire gorge. You can find maps of the trail systems leading to it from the internet or maybe from the welcome center by the falls. All of the many trails are physically difficult except the one by the falls shown near the end of my video. This is near the beginning of the gorge and lots of people visit that spot, few visit anywhere else. There are also trout above the gorge.
what the fuck is this music.
That music is bad and the first trout wasn't big especially compared to my 23 incher
Outdoor Adventures With Tanner that 22 incher is cute I went on a trip to Alaska and caught multiple 30+ inchers on the lower kenai in the span of about 6 hours
Alaska or most places out west would be nice but the average person will never get out west. N.C. has some of the best trout waters anywhere. I would take western N.C. over anywhere. Remember guys, it's not always about the size!
