- ok let me know which one you prefer in the comment section below ! in this video i'm comparing two epic vintage starsky and hutch toy cars from the 70's and 80's against to similarly epic nut nowhere near as cool modern ones ! the first is the greenlight 1:18th scale starck and hutch car and a smaller johnny lightning diorama depicting a scene from the opening credits of the tv show, which was a subscriber gift ! but what makes this model even coller is the fact that it is signed buy huggy bear from the show !
oh and ken and dave are their first names ! i forgot to put that bit in the video sorry !

Must say Mark that the new S&H car is pretty impressive, I used to love watching this series when I was a kid, loved the other characters, Huggy Bear and Captain Dobie, thanks for sharing another quality vlog and bringing back great memories.

The Johnny Lightning set is nice, I got it off the pegs when it was released. I like the classic Corgi set the most because we just had the best toys in the 70's and 80's, it was a great time to be a kid.

Get those cars sold or on permanent display before the upcoming diverse all female reboot comes along and kills all memories of the original classic series and no doubt have a new car to only appeal to modern audiences!

Definitely vintage for me but it was interesting that Louis preferred the modern ones, until I affected his decision with value ! Oh and you win the fact that no one else realised i’d not added the answer to the video 🤣🤣🤣 ! M
Something that always annoys me with pretty much every S&H model is they never jack up the rear wheels to get that 70s striped tomato stance!
Curiously I have the 1/18 and the doors and hood do open. May have been an RC2 casting which Greenlight reused? Still doesn’t have the correct stance though!

Turns out my S&H Torino is a 1/18 Joyride, which predates the Greenlight by a few years. Looks like the same casting although does have opening doors and hood. Someone was saving money somewhere… Fun video as always!!😊

No doubt! I own the original made in UK with box! And that's the best of all! Later versions even by Corgi can't beat the Original made by Corgi UK! Cheerio

That’s a bargain ! There must be some how to videos on UA-cam that can help ! But disassembling the model and stripping the paint may be the first step, and repro parts are available from model_supplies.co.uk hope that’s a help! M

Toys versus models/adult collectibles. You can’t compare. Toys capturing a young minds imagination with durability, playability and at a price point affordable by the mums and dads. That big car is not as much fun even though it’s way more sophisticated and a more faithful representation of the real car. I’d say that Johnny Lightenjng was aimed at the adult versions of the original kids. I always wished Corgi had given their Torino opening doors and figures that drove the car. It annoyed me that Kojaks car had his mate in the back seat firing a gun but it was driverless when I drove it in car chases. Price point I guess.
Couldn’t have put it better myself ! But it’s interesting how Louis preferred the new ones but understood how much I loved the vintage ones, and was influenced a bit by the value ! Hope all is good with you ! M
@@BROOKSCOLLECTABLES yes. I imagine Louis didn’t own toys associated with tv shows( possibly). Imaginations jumping off point to be continued with the toys associated with that show if you were lucky enough to have them. Did he know the price of the twin aerial Torino before choosing? It just goes to show the investment of imagination and time anchors us to simpler toys of our past, like the original Star Wars figures. That’s all we had while we waited for the next film, that I didn’t even know would be a thing until my parents took me years later. In that time, not being able to revisit the New Hope we spent hours recreating and extending that first story. Powerful stuff that both Disney and Hasbro seem to be clueless about. I’ll come up and we can talk for hours about this stuff over the appropriate quantity of pints.
Aerial one model number 292 made 1986 and if you by the net its the last casting of that model and it very rare mark hope all this information helps

Vintage hands down mark the aerial one is a corgi export and not many were made or survived that why I thought it would good with you in the museum and the other one was signed at a toy fair im told

Vintage has to be better. The Chinese one wouldn’t of lasted 5 minutes in my house - my brother was brutal with my toys in the late 70’s/80’s
Yeah the vintage is better but I wanted to give the modern one a fighting chance 🤣🤣🤣! Some of the 70’s dinkys could be weaponised by siblings they were so heavy and solidly made ! But we were tougher in those days ! Hope you enjoyed the video ! M
