Glossier was the first brand I started using makeup with. I like the products (especially the stretch concealer), but I’m also a sucker for pretty packaging
The concealer is amazing and the wonder is so beautiful, leaves my skin looking and feeling like skin. The skin tint is mid tho. Also love the blushes, fool proof.
@@maevery7785 yesss i have very dry skin and it’s the only thing that doesn’t dry up and separate on my skin! and it gives amazing coverage while looking supes natural
I think that with a lot of the original product line, it was fairly innovative, in part because it was designed for the "no-makeup" makeup look, or what is called a "clean girl" look now. Before 2019-ish, not very many Western brands were making products that were intended to be applied lightly and to 'show the skin underneath' so to speak. Glossier was a big deal because it was courting a niche that not many companies were making products for. The industry later caught on to the demand and now there are a ton of newer brands that have that same ethos, but do it even better, with better shade ranges, better formulas, sometimes with more ethical business practices, etc. I still like some Glossier products, like the mascara and concealer, and it was a great introduction to makeup for me, but for several years the company had stopped listening to requests from fans and came out with less popular releases, which contributed to the declining popularity. Plus, the ideas behind the brand aren't as novel or exciting anymore.
I feel like Glossier is a big part of why the “clean girl” makeup became a thing, they were the only major brand that was pushing the “less is more” aesthetic at a time when makeup was VERY over the top.
I am pretty sure there have been countless of requests for worldwide shipping. I really wish they would ship worldwide someday. I can only buy Glossier products from local resellers who marked up the prices more than twice the retail prices.
To me one of the most itneresting brands is Rare beauty- because Selena’s brand literally has shade names which align with the overlying theme of the brand. It’s smart: her shade ranges are better, the makeup isn’t “light” coverage by any means but it does align with the interests and explorative nature of younger women and men. She ever uses that same pastel pink, not the exact shade, but RB is a good example of “doing it right”, of course they have made mistakes, but certainly they’ve grown exponentially and honestly in ways I can’t imagine Glossier will ever achieve
i’m 22, been using glossier products since 2016. i like the products because they always felt accessible. like i don’t need crazy tools or expensive partner products that render what you bought useless without the rest. and i don’t have to worry about looking cakey. and the user oriented marketing was refreshing, because i could see how real people applied makeup. not beauty gurus with an entire room dedicated to their makeup collection. just real people using their hands, sometimes in a rush to start their day.
The stretch concealer is a holy grail product for me. I have super dry skin and it’s the only concealer I’ve found that’s emollient enough to not cling to dry patches. It also took away the redness from breakouts without looking heavy and drawing more attention. I like Super Dew and Boy Brow too but haven’t repurchased. The other products I’ve tried are hit or miss for me. I was also highly allergic to the original Balm Dotcom formula but now that they’ve reformulated, maybe I wouldn’t be. The Wild Fig color was super pretty (if I’m not allergic to the new formula).
i geniunely loveee a lot of glossiers products, the cloud paint is my favorite brush, boy brow makes my blond brows look natural and perfect, their mascara is pretty good and the stretch concealer is a holy grail for me. also their lippies are pretty fun
I LOVE GLOSSIER!!!! The cloud paint is my favorite product. I’m a sucker for makeup that makes it look like you’re wearing no makeup. Also their brow tint is AMAZING
Interesting I never knew this. The glossier blush is honestly amazing. I forgot what the shade is called but the red one is literally a dupe for rare beauty grateful, I actually like it better because it looks more natural with or without foundation whereas the rare beauty is very difficult to blend out and doesn’t look as natural as well as it takes a lot of manipulating to make it look decent. Also the shade range is very dark skin friendly. I wear NW55 from Mac and I found that the a few shades looked excellent on my skin tone.
Agree with people being hooked on marketing with glossier. Their products are so gimmicky, it’s always surprised me how big they got. If I want a natural makeup look, I’ll just use less of my normal makeup products and I know it’ll last all day. Their stuff never really lasts long and ofc doesn’t always suit my skin tone as a tanner girl
Sometimes you just want a that delivers the results you want, it’s that simple. I don’t want a medium coverage foundation that i can water down, i’d rather have a sheer liquidy product that i can apply as i wish without worrying about looking cakey. To each their own. Also longevity isn’t something they market or promise, obviously sheer and light makeup isn’t going to last long. Sucks they didn’t have a good shade range though.
I’m in my mid 30’s and was there from the inception of Glossier on Into The Gloss. I was their target audience when they first launched. Their first products (Moon & Galaxy Greens Masks). I was there when they crowdsourced us to find out what kind of cleanser they should make. Heck, I even worked for an ice cream company that made a custom flavor for their Glossier launch party (a millennial pink Bulgarian Rose ice cream with a marshmallow swirl. It didn’t need the swirl…). I even was there when they opened their flagship store in Manhattan’s Chinatown, Anyway, the consensus has always always been that their products are meh, and don’t really work well. Super sheer formulas, skincare that’s, well, fine, I guess? It really seemed better marketed to tweens and teens just starting out in the makeup world, even though their target audience on into the gloss was the same age as the writers- early to mid twenties. Boy Brow, and the original formulation Balm Dot Com of Glossier You seemed to be their really big hits, but nothing else really seemed great. I think it’s always been great marketing, subpar products. I like to call this type of brand “The Emperors New Products”.
Their skin tint was a game changer for me, i love that product and their paint cloud and boy brow are staples for me. I never even knew about their “downfall” lol
I recently bought the concealer and its great! Easy going and I like to use to color correct my undereyes. But the lack of inclisivity is apparent in MOST of their products. I have medium olive toned skin. Ami Colé is another sephora brand that caters exclusively to deeper skin tones. The lightest shade of their skin tint IS MY SHADE.
I started to use makeup last year and for Christmas my mom got me a little pack with its mascara, eye browl stuff, eye shadow and i still use it today!
I think glossier is really good for beginners (I used it as a beginner), they will literally HELP you pick shades over email. I will not be re-purchasing though, it’s formula is not the best for my skin type.
i loveee the cloud paint blushes. they used them in the show "The Great" too, and it just looks amazing. there are other similar products, of course, but i really enjoy them! Plus, I bought 2 diff colors, and theyre def going to last till expiration despite the amt of blush I pile on.
Love the cloud paint and boybrow. Also a big fan of their milky jelly cleanser and highlighter stick, the generation g lipstick was a bit patchy but it works but the glossier play lipstick gloss thing was pretty good. I’m not someone who buys a lot of makeup but it works pretty fine, I like it no need to try unnecessary for something new ig.
their concealer, brow gel, lip balm and gloss are absolute staples for me and have been for years. the cloud paint is eh. i haven’t tried anything else from them but definitely will now that i can get them at sephora without having to pay shipping
I honestly love Glossier and have used their products for years. I was unaware of the racism within the brand itself which upsets me. Hopefully things have changed since the original CEO stepped down.
The one product I would go back to is probably the boy brow. I really enjoyed their aesthetic back in the day but I feel like I can find similar products for less money that work just as well. Boy brow is the only thing that I haven’t found anything quite like
i personally really like glossier’s products, they’re easy to use and simple enough for me! i do love the packaging a lot and i agree, they have to expand certain shade ranges to be more inclusive.
i don't have much makeup and i'm particular about texture so i find i can give a little more for this stuff. it's quick and easy and pretty hard to fuck up tbh, great for a rush and most of the products last ages
I was actually unaware of everything that’s gone wrong because I’ve really only paid attention to the products 😅 I followed along with the shade range troubles because My skin tone was at the end of their original shade range but I thought the resulting additions were so positive considering the sheer coverage of all the products. it’s kind of disheartening to hear about internal problems tbh but I’m going the apparent restructuring has improved things for their employees. You is basically my signature scent at this point and stretch concealer is the only concealer I use so I really need them to not go down for good 😭
i have their cloud paint and gen g lipstick, honestly i think its both the marketing and how unique the formula is esp for the lipstick so i totally get the hype
Glossier cloud paint is the only blush I’ll use bc I haven’t found any dupes that have the same texture and/or pigment. The only other product I’ve tried from them was boy brow, and it was a total flop imo. It always flaked off within a few hours, and there wasn’t much product in the tube 🙄
I used to kind of like the cloud paint but then I met the CEO on a flight during the mask mandate and she refused to listen to the crew and was super rude to them. 😅
The marketing is really good. About two years ago it pushed me to try their serum (the ordinary does it better) and one more product that I can’t even remember But I DO remember thinking ahhh how cute the site looks and the aesthetic is so clean I stopped thinking about them until Olivia, but then I thought it’s not my vibe, I’m not a minimalist when it comes to doing my makeup. However I finally watched Olivia’s get ready with me and she was using other products I liked and sell at my job! Such as the Exa beauty foundation Now I wanna try the hydra lip balm Olivia put on I think their products are hit or miss but you can technically say that about any brand! It’s all preference. She really sold me as a Pisces because I’m one too 😭
The perfume smells so delicious and I was addicted. However I stopped using because I started learning about fragrances and wasn’t comfortable using the ingredients on body any more.
I’ve only ever tried the cloud paint and the lash slick or whatever it was called, a mascara, and they were good, but nothing remarkable. Elf makes a good dupe for the cloud paint, it’s their putty blush they’re beautiful and last all day, unlike the cloud paint.
I’ve only tried their makeup remover and cleanser and LOVE THEM!!! The makeup remover actually doesn’t hurt my eyes (literally every other one does) and the cleanser really does clear out your pores without drying it out. Idk most of the time the claims brands make aren’t accurate but these are. The makeup is definitely for young girls who have good skin, but I think there *should* be a market for that, as most young women don’t need as much base makeup as they think they do.
I’ve tried the lip gloss, but lost it & never seemed to repurchase (I can’t justify the price for the size & the fact it’s just a clear gloss, but was a good product), I have re-bought the skin tint & stretch concealer 3 times I love them. The coverage is perfect, tiny products but they go such a long way! (Christmas - Christmas). I’ve also tried the liquid highlighter, wouldn’t buy it again bc I use powder & it sits better without. Also used the milky cleanser which was fine but again wouldn’t buy it again bc of the price :) I like the brand, nice packaging as well x
I’m soo impressed with their marketing, it seems like they barely did anything and were able to have the most coveted brand. They had this air of class, exclusivity, and (expensive, not being widely available) that lent itself well to becoming that ‘cool girl’ brand during that vsco girl era. I have never used or seen a glossier product irl lol
Admittedly I’m okay ale and white but I don’t do make up often if at all and I like the glossier product I have. Not a fan of the tint or concealer or lipstick but also, I struggle with those in general. However, love the lid shimmer, the cloud paint, the highlight stick, the gloss, the lip balms. 10/10 and they actually last so long if like me you don’t use them daily
I enjoy it, I have dry skin, don't use much makeup, and when I started I found Glossier to be a good option for me and I still do. Its not a company I want everything from but it does a good job for my skin
I like their boy brown and cloud paint but I cannot justify the price for it. That being said I’ve had their cloud paint since 2020 like the same tube and it still hasn’t finished. I probably should get rid of it bc it might be expired (bad habit of mine LOL) but it goes to show with that product a little goes a long way and it last a long time so maybe for that one I justify it’s price but not the boy brown I use the elf dupe now and it works just as well :)
I used glossier mascara 4 years ago and it made me lose lashes…like a lot 😬I’m pretty sure I was allergic to something in it. I’d never had any mascara make me loose so many lashes.
Reading some of these comments and it’s wild readings peoples different perceptions of glossier. I was in high school when it came out in 2014 and I remember a lot of Tumblr bloggers raving about their products. I coveted but couldn’t afford their products until 2017 when I bought the cloud paints on sale for Black Friday. I was in college. At this point I’ve been to the glossier stories in NYC, LA, Philly, and DC because the stores are an experience themselves. Glossier has a “cult” following for sure and I’ve always looked at brands like Milk Makeup trying to emulate its success. But no one can do glossier like glossier
I’ve had there lip balms and lot of other products since 2019 and i really love them i love their mascara and the boy brow is so good but the lip glosses are my least favorite product (no hate just my personal opinion)from the ones I’ve tried because of how they are super sticky and run out soooooo fast I’m not share if they have reformulated since 2019 but if they haven’t they should or get bigger tubes. But love them in general and they are probably one of my favorite brands.
Ngl I started buying glossier for the packaging/ marketing but it’s practically the only makeup i use. It’s fun to use and you can’t overdo it. The potted concealer is the best and it’s the only thing I’ve found my “perfect match” in. I’m sorry to give it positive reviews 🫣 I love a fresh skincare vibe makeup though. I want to look prettier, happier, healthier. Not really doing “makeup looks” anymore.
I used to use glossier products and specifically the skincare range… and then I got some major breakouts from the products that took 6 months to recover from. Their makeup… while the range wasn’t the most inclusive, unlike a lot of brands they actually had my shade and until Rare launched, I was stuck using their products for the most part. I used to love some of the glossier play stuff (the lipstick in shade Driver was everything) but generally Rare beauty drove me totally away from the brand. It’s a bigger range of products that’s more inclusive and def a lot better quality imho. Glossier had its moment… but she’s no longer the it girl imho.
I think the 2018-2019 sort of Influencers like bestdressed, Emma chamberlain and stuff like that helped too. They made such good content that the masses loved whatever they used
The products. I use glossier products almost everyday. The perfume, boy brow, skin tint and future dew are all in daily rotation. I love the cloud paint too. If I buy something because of the marketing hype and I don't like it I pass it on - don't keep using it or post about it
I like to find glossier dupes bc honestly it’s overhyped and while I like a minimalist look benefit, rare beauty, Fenty and others have better products (honestly even Mac). They also have a better range so I can buy it with other people. We should use our money to support better companies
If u wanna look minimalist, use less product of what you already have. I’m not going to buy expensive product, that’s going to barely show up while it runs out quick because it’s purpose is “minimalistic look”
Glossing is the only brand I bought coz of hype n I have never been more disappointed in any makeup that glossier. I got 4-5 products n still don't use it just getting dust. Like cheap drug store random picks have never disappointed me that bad
As a graphic design student, I absolutely am obsessed with their branding, however, they have really fallen off when it comes to quality, and for the price, these days you can definitely find higher quality cheaper products.
Glossier was the first brand I started using makeup with. I like the products (especially the stretch concealer), but I’m also a sucker for pretty packaging

I enjoy it, I have dry skin, don't use much makeup, and when I started I found Glossier to be a good option for me and I still do. Its not a company I want everything from but it does a good job for my skin
Boy brow is amazing but as it is with any company not every product is going to work or be a favorite for every single person.
I’m hooked on the name. Anything with dewy and gloss in the name or product, I’m game nyahaha. So easy to manipulate me and take my money I love it 😌✨
only tried their toner and it made my face feel like it’s on fire
I love there perfume and the lip balm.
Their perfume is the best perfume I've ever smelled
I’m enjoying the Baume it helps with how dry I get working in retail with a big dry dusty warehouse
I love glossier but there’s better products out there esp like Korean products
I used glossier mascara 4 years ago and it made me lose lashes…like a lot 😬I’m pretty sure I was allergic to something in it. I’d never had any mascara make me loose so many lashes.
I remember I used really want glossier lol
I've only trued their cloud paints, I'm a big fan. Would've tried more but tey weren't readily available, maybe with them selling at Sephora, i might
And they’re trying to push that perfume by ads all over TikTok
Absolutely love their boy brow. But their other products I bought from them I wouldn't get again.
I don’t care for their makeup but the perfume is 😍😍
I’ve had there lip balms and lot of other products since 2019 and i really love them i love their mascara and the boy brow is so good but the lip glosses are my least favorite product (no hate just my personal opinion)from the ones I’ve tried because of how they are super sticky and run out soooooo fast I’m not share if they have reformulated since 2019 but if they haven’t they should or get bigger tubes.
I’ve tested the majority of their products but the only product that I like and use daily is their niacinamide super pure serum
The product. Except the only product I used, they discontinued. Fly high, Bubblewrap ❤
Honestly have not tried a single product of theirs I did not like. Except the boy brow, not all it was hyped up to be
I think the 2018-2019 sort of Influencers like bestdressed, Emma chamberlain and stuff like that helped too. They made such good content that the masses loved whatever they used
The products. I use glossier products almost everyday. The perfume, boy brow, skin tint and future dew are all in daily rotation. I love the cloud paint too. If I buy something because of the marketing hype and I don't like it I pass it on - don't keep using it or post about it
I think the products are cute but I don’t think I would find any that would fit me just right
i used to buy glossier, but it was too expensive especially for the size even if the packaging was cute
I’m not going to buy expensive product, that’s going to barely show up while it runs out quick because it’s purpose is “minimalistic look”
i swear by the boy brown and some of their skincare stuff but that’s it
Glossing is the only brand I bought coz of hype n I have never been more disappointed in any makeup that glossier. I got 4-5 products n still don't use it just getting dust. Like cheap drug store random picks have never disappointed me that bad
I got concealer lipstick putty blush n something else
Only bought the perfume because my husband likes it 🙄 my favorite is miss dior tho
As a graphic design student, I absolutely am obsessed with their branding, however, they have really fallen off when it comes to quality, and for the price, these days you can definitely find higher quality cheaper products.
Their makeup products do not work for me, but I love their scents
I wanna like Glossier because I LOVE their whole brand design, but the products themselves are meh.
Personally idk I bought their primer and just didn’t work for me at all, and it was too expensive for mee
