    That's awesome. Got my baby to climb in playground & bleachers on cool spring days. I showed videos to mother-in-law & that woman is so full of fear about baby falling. I sometimes wonder why my husband tells me to be careful when I go to the store. 😅

    The answer to the wooden block vs magna tiles preference is they are easier/ less challenging. Wooden blocks depend on gravity and stability of the surface. Therefore they are easier to knock over and they have to learn the challenges sloped or nesting pieces present. Whereas the magna tiles are more difficult to collapse than assemble. And so they master them faster and can build more complex structures sooner.

    I love all your videos! I am in love with your Pikler. We have an older child that is too big for the smaller Piklers out there and I love the height adjustment and the 12 dowels which make it look safer to climb. Choosing a Pikler is like choosing a car -- it's hard! And then you and your spouse have to agree on the color (or no color). Whew....I'll be glad when we finally figure it out. My vote is for this one though. Thanks for sharing all of your insights and cool product suggestions.

      Awe thank you!! there are SO many options! I'm planning to put together a guide because I researched SO many. In the blog post version of this video I linked another that my friend has - but to your point, I didn't get it because it seemed like it wouldn't work as well for older goods (though it does work VERY nicely for toddlers with this bridge functionality, but I could get another piece and do that with this one too if I really wanted - I jsut use the couch though lol)

      Hey there, we've had the same exact Pickler now for 1/2 year and could not imagine not having it. It's so strong and sturdy compared to a local one someone was building (which had smaller dowels). We are now going to spring for the scooter you recommended. Our girl is just over 2 and is trying to ride on her sister's 2 wheel scooter, but I really like the one you recommended. Thanks for your videos!

    I love the idea of the Pickler triangle. The only problem I have with it is I know my son would use it like a ladder to reach everything I have tried to put up in my tiny condo. If I can find a way to prevent that, I'd love to get kne for him. Anyone have any ideas?

    • @theconfusedmom
      @theconfusedmom  2 роки тому

      It's pretty big/not easy to move on their own in my experience. I would just look at the height of the pikler you're thinking about getting and see if it's even tall enough for him to reach what you've put up!
      The peak is angled pretty far away unlike a traditional ladder that would bring him to the shelves or whatever.
      I have a blog post with my top picks and talk about the heights: www.theconfusedmillennial.com/best-pikler-triangle/
      and a blog post on the top climbing toys which may have some better options in this situation: www.theconfusedmillennial.com/toddler-climbing-toys/
      hope that helps!!

    I recently used your link to buy this pikler triangle and I’m so excited! It should be arriving soon and we plan to gift it to my almost 2 year old for Christmas. The only thing I’m worried about is that it doesn’t seem it adjusts height wise like yours anymore? This is something I just noticed based on their pictures and I’m a bit bummed - I looked at so many and chose this one specifically because I liked how the height could be adjusted and how slim it was for storage. We’ll see when it gets here, though! Also, do you find the “base boards” get in the way at all? That was something I was uncertain about since most piklers are free standing on their four “feet”. I assumed the base part was for the height adjustment, but I feel like it’s kind of annoying and worthless if it can’t adjust and I’ll be kind of sad if this gets in the way of play or makes it difficult to set up outside (for short term outdoor play, of course). I probably should’ve asked all of these questions before placing my order, but I was getting down to the wire to get anything in time for Christmas, and I really wanted to purchase on Black Friday/Cyber Monday to take advantage of the deals that were happening. 🥲

    • @theconfusedmom
      @theconfusedmom  2 роки тому +1

      I would message them ASAP!! Even if they don't sell it, they should 100% be able to do it as a custom order. The only thing I could possibly think of is the shortage of lumbar across the globe??
      I don't find the baseboards get in the way! If anything I kind of like them because they "contain" stuff (like if my daughter goes in there like it's a tent with balls or toys or books).
      It does have an ecowax on it which doesn't make it the best option for outdoor use though! If kids have a ton of dirt on their feet and climb on it, I could see getting picked up into the frame. You can wipe it clean, but if it's a moist soil it'll be annoying to do so.

    • @theconfusedmom
      @theconfusedmom  2 роки тому +1

      Did you ever hear back from them? I just got an email from them (who I've never talked to before so I'm assuming it was from you reaching out haha) --
      They are trying to tell me that they no longer sell the adjustable via Etsy... So I asked them why the etsy listing photos still shows the adjustable height in photos... I hope they resolved this for you!
      I got your back and will do my best to help if they haven't (I threatened to pull the recommendation, even though I have it and love it, that's not cool).

    How many months in age do you suggest for the crawl tunnel

    • @theconfusedmom
      @theconfusedmom  9 місяців тому

      I always suggest checking the manufacturer's recommendation - but if supervised I feel comfortable playing with it with my child once they've been crawling for a month or so.
      The big safety things to look out for with crawling tunnels are wear and tear (they usually use a wire in the material to create the "pop" out shape, so always check it to make sure no wire is popping through) and then if siblings or an animal or something is around that would cause the tunnel to collapse on the child or close them in.
      We've played with them since my kids were very very little and I played with them for many years as a child and had neither of those things happen, but always good to superivse and check your toys regularly!

    I've been searching for an etiquette guide regarding this dilemma...should I assemble the gift for my friend's one-year old and bring it to the party? Or is this something that should be saved for the family to do so they can build it together? The toy is a little ice cream pushy thing that looks very easy to assemble. But for all I know, they like leaving stuff in boxes to save room in their home, etc? Uggh...I have looked everywhere for an answer to this. I'm surprised no one's done a video for it...hint hint... :)
